Lotus Carroll1,777,588This is the Event for our December Self Portrait Challenge: 'Tis the Season. What this means is create your image to portray or offer commentary on whatever the current season means to you... this should differ for each of us, though I'm sure there will be many common themes. Let's see what this time of year means to you, as creatively as possible! Here is where you enter your ONE "'Tis the Season" Self Portrait. Your photo must have been captured during this month. Not adhering to rules will get you disqualified. *Tips & Inspiration* I've rounded up some truly magnificent "seasonal" self portraits in a gallery, and hope they inspire you as much as they do me! Randy Scherkenbach43,490Join us for a photowalk at the beautiful Holy Hill Basilica in Hubertus. Not only is the church itself beautiful, it also includes a tower with stunning views of the surrounding Kettle Moraine landscape. Additionally, it should be perfect timing for peak fall color in the beautiful wooded areas around the church. After the walk we will meet up at the nearby Tally Ho Pub for a pint and to compare our shots. http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/hubertus-wi-united-states/Scott Kelby World-Wide Photowalk at Holy Hill2013-10-05 12:00:003
Lotus Carroll1,777,588This is the Event for our September 2013 Self Portrait Challenge: A Great Cell Phone Photo. Just because you use a cell phone doesn't mean your self portrait has to be of the "facebook style" mobile or reflection variety. That little guy has a camera inside it, so treat it like one! Here is where you enter your ONE Self Portrait using only a cell phone to capture and process (no computer software post processing!). Your photo must have been captured this month. This Event remains open until 11:59 CST September 30th, so you have until then to create and enter your best photo from this month. Please read all rules (scroll down). It makes a huge difference! Is there junk in the room behind you? If yes, it's not a good place to shoot. ETC. *DO NOT just slap a filter or cheesy effect on and call it a day - take the time to try different edits and pay attention to the elements of your photo.  *DO NOT point your phone at a mirror and take a reflection photo where we can see your phone. *DO NOT have your arms in the photo as you're holding the phone out in front of or above you. *DO NOT duckface. *DO NOT showcase your cleavage as the main subject. *Here's a list of Photo Apps you can try out:* Snapseed VSCOcam Retouch (cloning tool!) David R Robinson34,770One of the things I love being able to do when I travel is meet other G+ photographers.  If I have free time in the evenings, I will often try to do a photowalk.  On Monday (August 12th, 6:30pm) I will be meeting @104166683851434520973 and hopefully some others for a twilight photowalk in downtown Milwaukee.   We are meeting at Rock Bottom Brewery, will shoot our way down the riverwalk, and perhaps also hit the Milwaukee Art Museum.  Randy created an event in the Wisconsin Photographers community (https://plus.google.com/communities/111399010064347256287), but the way G+ does events in communities, I can't share it, so I'm creating an event here that I can share in case anyone that sees my stream is interested.  It's probably a long shot given that I'm doing this last minute, but just in case.Downtown Milwaukee Twilight Photowalk2013-08-12 18:30:004

Randy Scherkenbach43,490Road Trip Photography Tour of the Lighthouses of Wisconsin. There's quite a few (map here: http://goo.gl/maps/pgcc2) so for the first trip I think we should start in Kenosha, then hit Racine, Wind Point, Milwaukee, Port Washington and if there's still time, Sheboygan. If this goes well, we can do another trip for the Door County lighthouses, and another for the Lake Winnebago lighthouses. Sunrise is 5:15 am on June 1st, so let's meet at the Kenosha Lighthouse at 5:00 am.Wisconsin Lighthouse Tour2013-06-01 07:30:003

Miraestels by Robert Llimós.  They could be a pair of stevedores on deck, each marooned on their tiny pontoon. But they seem content to stand alone, legs astride, gazing up at the heavens. Placed too far out in the harbour to see many details, one thing visible only from the water is that each figure hides a coloured star behind its back, apparently representing the different cultures that make up Barcelona. The artist has played with this figure in an iconic way over time, reproducing it in different materials and diverse settings. These figures are of polyester and fibre-glass.

The Calling at Night
The Calling by Mark di Suvero is the most controversial piece of public art in Milwaukee.  It's placement at the end of Wisconsin Avenue blocks the view of the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum.  Place this piece anywhere else and it is just fine, but where it sits now is an eyesore.

Catedral de Barcelona
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia (Catalan: Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia), also known as Barcelona Cathedral, is the Gothic cathedral and seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona, Spain. The cathedral was constructed from the 13th to 15th centuries, with the principal work done in the 14th century. The cloister, which encloses the Well of the Geese (Font de les Oques) was completed in 1448. In the late 19th century, the neo-Gothic facade was constructed over the nondescript exterior that was common to Catalan churches. The roof is notable for its gargoyles, featuring a wide range of animals, both domestic and mythical.
