While wandering the lively streets of Sevilla, I stumbled upon this peaceful little courtyard. This beautiful city is a slice of paradise!

The Puente Nuevo "New Bridge" is the newest and largest of three bridges that span the 390ft-deep chasm that carries the Guadalevín River and divides the city of Ronda, in southern Spain. The term "nuevo" is a bit of a misnomer, as the building of this bridge commenced in 1751 and took until 1793 to complete. There is a chamber beneath the central arch that was used for a variety of purposes, including as a prison. During the civil war (1936 to 1939), both sides allegedly used the prison as a torture chamber for captured opponents, killing some by throwing them from the windows to the rocks below at the bottom of the El Tajo gorge.

Plaza de España in Sevilla is a majestic architectural complex built as the central office for the Ibero-American Exposition, a world fair held in Seville in 1929. At night, the fountains are turned off, the canals become still and reflective, and it is transformed into a magical wonderland. The plaza is a massive half circle; the building runs continuously along the outside of the half circle while a large fountain is located in the center. One can easily spend an hour here just walking around the courtyard.
An interesting tidbit ... Plaza de España has been used for some of the scenes of episode II of George Lucas' STAR WARS saga Attack of the clones.

When I was about 12 years old, I was told that we were moving to Gibraltar. I was so excited about the prospect of a new adventure, and sorely disappointed when the whole thing fell through. During the brief period of time when my hopes were high, I did a large amount of reading on Gibraltar. And of course, what excited me the most were the monkeys. And for the last 15 years, the Rock of Gibraltar has placed high on my list of must-see places. I wasn't disappointed, and I'm proud to say I have now seen the monkeys! One even sat on my shoulder (and didn't bite me, thankfully). So here you go … a Gibraltar monkey, perched high on the Rock. At present, some 300 monkeys in five troops occupy the area of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve.
