We have a large bottle of Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar lying around for mixing in with Aztec Clay Mask, but don't really use it for cooking or anything else.
I felt some signs of sore throat yesterday, and have already used some hexetidine in hopes of stopping it, but then remembered reading somewhere that Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar can be used to treat sore throats. I think I got overzealous and drank too much vinegar (and too little water to dilute it).
My stomach was on fire for some time, but I still managed to fall asleep for a nap. When I woke up, the signs of an incoming sore throat was gone.
Thank you hexetidine and apple cider vinegar.

I'm not really a fan of Disney characters so I was in for a shock when I saw a Cubic Mouth Minnie Mouse tin coin purse whilst browsing a seller's eBay store. After a quick Google search, seems that the Cubic Mouth edition of Mickey Mouse characters has been around for several years now. Now that I'm looking at it, it actually looks cool and I kinda want one.

I decided to run the Uncircle Inactives extension (which I haven't done for a while). I filtered the inactive ones since August 8 (around the time where my visits to G+ declined), and more than 200 people in my circles haven't posted anything for two months now. The activity in my stream has cooled down too..

This show totally slipped off my mind. It's a funny and a light TV series that I've liked right from the start. I'm not sure why I had forgotten about it since I had remembered Doctor Who and the upcoming season 3 premiere of The Walking Dead. Hearing about the season 5 of The Adventures of Merlin being so near is a very pleasant surprise.
Here is the official trailer for series 5 of BBC Merlin

Trying out Google Drive. I'm quite contented with Dropbox, but Google Drive's pricing plans is cheaper so I feel that it is worth taking a look.
However, the desktop application crashed when I synced my Google Docs files for offline viewing (but the syncing finished before the application closed). I opened it again to see if it will crash again if I sync several local files, but it was pretty fast and smooth. Oddly, .gdoc files opens on Firefox. I tried changing it by opening the 'Open with..' menu but the application selected is Google Drive and not Firefox.

I am trying to study Nihongo (yet again). I bought a Premium membership with JapanesePod101.com so I would have an incentive not to slack in studying, lol.
Learning Kanji has been the most discouraging part for me. While I have an idea on what some kanji characters mean (I know a little Mandarin and some basic Chinese characters), having several pronunciations for a word is a bit daunting. Sadly, the Kanji resource in JapanesePod101 isn't as good as I would like. I recommend sticking to a myriad of free Kanji tools online. Even the Japanese IME in Windows has a great tool in aiding my studies. My favorite feature would be the handwriting tool. You use your mouse to write a character and the suggested list of characters shows up. The Onyomi and Kunyomi readings are also given, so it's really cool.
I also signed-up for Lang-8 to practice. I'm not too happy with the i... more »

Day 26: A book that most people have not read
(Will be skipping some of the days, but will get back at them tomorrow)
I assume a lot of people haven't read this because of Twilight but I admit I did liked The Host by Stephenie Meyer. The premise was good, and although many parts of the book made me cringe, overall I enjoyed reading it.
I'm not much happy with the ending. I felt that Wanderer's (Wanda) character development has been in vain. She develops sympathy for humans and eventually came to realize that humans should be left alone, then gets inserted again in another human body (probably just to have a justifiable excuse for a sequel).

Day 19: A book from your favorite author
I wouldn't call Arthur Golden my favorite author, but I don't think I'd have the chance to mention Memoirs of a Geisha other than this, so there.
I love Japanese shit.
I've watched a lot of Japanese shows like Kamen Rider Black, Time Travel Tondekeman (known as Time Quest here), and Takeshi's Castle as a kid but didn't really cared about their origins. It was when I accidentally flipped the channel to WINS TV, and saw "Oh, Tokyo!", I became aware on how amazing Japan is that I became a fanatic. A few years later, Yu Yu Hakusho (or Ghost Fighter) was aired here and suddenly, everyone was crazy about Japan and anime. Yay, more comrades!
With that said, Memoirs of a Geisha is exactly what someone like me would really eat up. If the setting was different,... more »

Day 18: A book that most people have read
I am just assuming that most people have read this (Enchanment) since Orson Scott Card is a pretty popular. But for those who haven't, think of Enchantment as Sleeping Beauty with time travelling. I enjoyed reading most parts of the book, though I think it turned haywire near the end.

Day 17: A book that you wish you saw at the library
I have two books for this one, and I managed to find these books on a library, but I wanted to share my story.
The first book is The Fireless Inferno by Arnel Salgado. One of my favorite authors/columnists highly praised this book, and after a little online searching, I saw several people claiming this book a masterpiece, and it was so bad, it's so good. Problem is, it was published when I was a year old and the book wasn't reprinted so very few copies of the book exists. However, I managed to read a copy at the National Library of the Philippines. The library is quite far from where I live, that I didn't want to borrow the book. And there is a limit to the amount of pages you can photocopy inside the library, that I just resolved to finish the book in one sitting. I wasn't able to finish... more »

Day 15: A book that you used to love but now hate
I am ten days behind #30daysofbooks but I intend to catch up. I don't have anything for this one. I don't really hate or dislike any book that I used to love, even though I did outgrew a lot of books.
Day 16: A book that you often see at the library
I'll just base my answer on my elementary schools' library. I borrowed this book, Don't take a bath on Friday several times as a kid. There's nothing much in it - just a compilation of popular Philippine superstitions and illustrations. In our school, apart from educational books, newspapers, magazines and 'popular' books, book choices are pretty slim. That's why this book catches my eye every time.

Day 14: A book that describes you
I've been racking my brain for a book that describes me, but found none. I just went with a book written by Bob Ong since several people told me that my "humor" is similar with the author. I chose this particular book, Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas (roughly means 'The Favorite Book of Judas') because this book and I have an elusive fate. I've lost count on how many times I've bought a copy of this because I seem to always misplace it. I couldn't even find the last copy that I bought that's why I haven't taken a pic.
The content is mixed. The book is part fiction and part point of view narration of the author. The fiction part tells the story of a man who committed suicide, and isn't sure if he is having a conversation with God or with Satan.

Day 13: A book that no one would expect you to love
(I am a posting this more than a week late!)
I think I've mentioned it several times here on G+ so this wouldn't really come as a surprise to some, but for most people, even those I know personally get really surprised to know that I own (and love, lol) the Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal. I've never read (or bothered to) the other spin offs in Sweet Valley apart from their time in middle school. I just came across them in our school library when I was a kid and just loved it.

Day 12: A book that is a guilty pleasure
With my acquisition of an ebook reader, I resolved to read tons of cheesy romantic novels and erotica novels since now I don't have to worry about toting and owning books with suggestive covers, but I haven't gotten around to doing it. So for now, I guess I'll just go with The Adventures of Captain Underpants as a guilty pleasure. I started reading the books in my late teens, and still love them today. I am also constantly keeping my eyes peeled for them, as they're a bit hard to find in my neck of woods. Tra la la!

Day 10: A book from a local author
(Will be posting four days worth of the #30daysofbooks challenge today)
The Filipino language is syllabicated and the Filipino Alphabet consists of 20 indigenized Latin alphabet. Kids learning it would pronounce the alphabet as A-Ba-Ka-Da-E-Ga-Ha-I-La-Ma-Na-Nga-O-Pa-Ra-Sa-Ta-U-Wa-Ya.
So this book, ABNKKBSNPLAko?! by Bob Ong is actually pronounced as Aba, Nakakabasa na Pala Ako which roughly means "Oh, I know how to read now?!" or "Wow, I can read now?!". It's written in the Filipino language, and the author narrates stories about his days as a student, as well as his first few years of working.
This book became wildly popular here. Part of the books success would be the nostalgia factor, as well as its humor. Growing up, I only had a few friends who share my passion in reading... more »

Day 09: A book that makes you fall asleep
I was originally going to place a photo of textbooks, but I think it is universally acknowledged that textbooks possess a mysterious power that lulls everyone to sleep. I chose this instead. I'm not too sure what's the name of this book, as the cover and several pages are torn. I distinctly remember one of my older cousins reading this story to me + singing "I see the moon". Well, I wasn't a very nice kid and laughed :)
Ensuing photos for today are all taken with the unfortunate frosted lens (accidental) effect. I wanted to wait till the camera reaches room temperature so the frost would vanish, but after 15 minutes of waiting it was still frosted. Oh well.

The new Google+ UI seems ok (I'm using a pretty small screen). However, I wish you could lock circles on the home page (Or can I? I don't know). I was thinking of migrating specific people from other circles to my friends and family circle (since none of my real life friends and family use G+ anyway), but then again it would be admitting defeat since Google+ needs to give their users the option to lock circles of their choice .

Day 08: A book from your childhood

Day 07: A book that reminds you of a certain event
I'm not sure how it goes in other countries, but a lot of schools in the Philippines offer both elementary and high school education, and just usually co-exists in one compound but on separate buildings. When Scholastic went to our schools' elementary department years ago, even though the book fair was situated in the elementary building, it didn't stop me from visiting it during lunch time. It must be a bit unsettling for the younger kids to see a high school student there. I bought this book (Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko) a bit cheaper than it retails on bookstores.
