The photowalking weekend is over. Today's 18 hours walk is a new record for us! And I am dead! :D

This one is from yesterday evening's meeting +Jörn Daberkow +Askan Worms +Sven Wickenkamp +Inge Klobasa. +Thorsten von Eyb and +Werner Polwein were able to see Blankenese and the stair quarter and of course river Elbe at night. It was good fun with a great mood.

Day1 of #bajurwarmeetsfischkopp2013 . After the first day +Thorsten von Eyb and +Werner Polwein were amazed by the city and harbour of Hamburg. Wandering 12 hours will not leave their marks, hopefully ^^ The saga continues today. Looking forward to meet them again ;)

It never rains in Africa

... but in Hamburg, sometimes ^^
This one was made yesterday, Day1 of the best event I have made for months. +Thorsten von Eyb and +Werner Polwein came all the way down from Munich to Hamburg and we will have some photowalks through the city and harbour. Day1 was pretty exhausting (12h wandering), but we had great sunny weather, until the weather changed in the evening. Nevertheless, the bavarian guys will stay till monday and there's still much to see and visit. Looking forward to meet them again today.

And many loving thanks to +Andy Bitterer +Holger Steinmann +Marc Volquardsen +Ele Leisegang +Christoph Leisegang +Peter Jakobs (displayed in order of appearance ^^) to join the pack! :D

Water falls are rare in Hamburg. But there is a beautiful water cascade in our city park "Planten un Blomen" ^^
I was too lazy to put on a wideangle, so I took some macro shots if it ^^

Making-Of: outdoor flowerphotography

This one goes to +f.a. fiebig especially.

To get the most out of the lighting you may use the available light. But: what if its no sunny day and you are in the woods or shadow? The shutter speed gets longer and longer and you don't want to push your ISO setting due to noise?
Use an external flashlight and a speedbox (mobile softbox). Mounted on a stand you will get stunning results.

The flashlight (here its a Nikon SB-800) is triggered by my Nikon D300S through Master/Slave iTTL. It means that the small internal flashlight in your camera is sending short flah impulses to the SB-800 to tell which settings and power will be used for the next shot. Tulips

Back in from a little photowalk with +Lars Flögel. He asked to go to "Planten un Blomen" ("Plants and Flowers" is a large park in the center of Hamburg) to test his new selfmade ND filters. The only place in a large range around Hamburg to capture water falls ^^
I took the chance to test my new Nikkor 105/2.8 macro glass with external flash and a speedbox (a mobile softbox).
I must say that this combination makes me shiver. The results are spectacular, as I think ^^
