Travelling for work (Dubai, UAE)

#Ingress  has allowed me not only to see sights that I never would have know about while travelling, but meet new and interesting people.  +Mohammed Affan (Ingress agent Affan) and Ingress agent Superkrang help me achieve Level 8.  

Anyone else hit Level 8 farther away from home?  I am curious.

So palerider and I had a funny experience in Moriarty yesterday... As we were killing the big green snot that was covering it, we went to the Moriarty Water Tower.  

Now, we were pretty sure there would be a group of you toads waiting for us there, as it was pretty obvious where we were heading.  So we pull into the parking lot, and there is a car there with 2 people in it.  They smile and wave, so we do the same, and assume we are about to battle.  We furiously start dropping bursters, hoping that we can at least take the fields down before the toads in the other car can recharge/redeploy.

More quickly than expected, they fall... We look over at the other car, they are talking... So we get out to talk to them.  Apparently, they were just a couple teenagers making out in an empty parking lot...

Oops. I think this game is making me paranoid...

Organize your own local pickup game of #ingress this weekend and then report back on how it went using the #IngressReport tag.

Feel free to be creative and make up your own game rules, just like you might make up your own game of "Horse" on the basketball court.

Start by meeting with a designated representative from the local opposing faction to agree upon the game rules. Here are some suggested game rules to give you an idea of what is possible.

1) Designate 10 local target Portals.
2) Record the score (via Intel Map screen capture) at four time periods.
3) 5 Points for each target Portal under a Field.
4) 1 Point for each controlled Portal.
5) Losing team buys beers.

So I was watching my G+ stream, and I saw that Ingress players in El Paso are organizing their own Ingress event... 

"We have 10 portals on each side of the city marked out, which each faction will have to take over to advance their 'front line', culminating in a clash at the center of the city as each faction tries to 'push' the other back."

Would anyone be interested in doing something like this?

So I do not understand why it is so hard for people to get #IngressInvite  ... I have received 4 of them so far... (Before you ask, they are all used)

First: Stanford beat Oregon, +Brandon Badger Posted a bunch and I got one.

(Should have been) Second: I posted a pic of my command center, and +Brandon Badger commented on it saying I was getting an invite, but I never received it.

(Actual) Second: +Joe Philley posted one and I was quick enough to get it before anyone else

Third: I received my email invite from signing up on ingress.com

Fourth: First post to name "Hubris" as the word of the day when +Joe Philley asked...

All-
  Sorry I have been away.  My mother passed last Sunday (July 29th) of cancer.  For the last week I have been in New Hampshire, with family and many friends.

This was very sudden.  Around July 4th, she kayaked for 7 miles (to the end of the lake she lived on and back).  A few days later, she had some discomfort and went to the doctor. Small cell lung cancer that spread to her liver, which was fully engulfed.  

She went quickly, which I look at with mixed blessings.  She did not suffer, but it was way too quick.  

We held a wake on Friday, and a memorial on Saturday, with a gathering at the house after.  The turn out was phenomenal.  The show of support was unprecedented.  My mother was very active in her community, and the community responded to her passing. Over $3000 was donated to the local Food Pantry where she volunteered in her name, and thedirector off... more »

Really? This proposed law would prevent the organisation of any kind of protest organised through the Internet, thus qualifying as criminal any civil demonstration or public gathering. According to the proposal, even retweeting an event considered by the government violent, would be liable to two years imprisonment.

Really? We think that this proposal will result in... let's see... some online organized protests?
