New in the mobile app: support for Google+ pages

Today we're rolling out v3.2 of the Google+ app to Android and iOS; both versions include one of our most highly-requested features: support for Google+ pages. This gives page owners the ability to post, comment, and interact with their followers directly from their mobile device.

Additionally:
- The Android version includes an updated widget, and a new 'Find People' experience.
- The iOS version adds iPhone 5 and iOS 6 support, and the ability to edit your posts.

The new app is available now from Google Play (http://goo.gl/xaxMx) and the App Store (http://goo.gl/RVv2S), so give it a spin and let us know what you think!

Awww RIM .. do we have to disparage Java now?  I have written a zillion lines of Java code (and C/C++) across many platforms; the language / runtime is definitely not an issue.

Today we're rolling out v3.1 of the Google+ app for both Android and iOS. It's mostly performance improvements (with a couple of bug fixes), but there is one feature I wanted to mention.

Starting today (on Android, coming soon to iOS) you can join Hangouts On Air from your phone, and participate in someone's broadcast! The community's already using hangouts to share the news as it happens (http://goo.gl/SqJfD), so I'm really excited to make this feature available.

Interesting that Amazon is displaying ads for 3P sites on their product detail pages.  The intentionality and purchase intent when a user is on a detail page is definitely high, though I wonder how it compares to search.

Just heard that Condi is being considered for the Republican VP pick -- that would be a very shrewd political move that would give Romney sway with minorities and the conservative base (it's pretty tough to find someone that appeals to those two groups).  Her talk of American exceptionalism and aggressive intervention in Syria certainly smacks of the neocon philosophy, however she herself doesn't carry the neocon political baggage IMO.

It could give her sway with female voters, though I find it a bit offensive that female voters would vote for a candidate based on gender.

First-person Impressions from Today's Supreme Court Decision on Healthcare

My friend and colleague +Ann Waldo (an attorney with whom I've worked on some healthcare privacy issues) was able to attend today's Supreme Court decision.  She shared some first-person impressions via email, and gave me permission to share them more widely here.  Ann wrote:

"Family and friends,  here’s a summary of my take on the Supreme Court decision that Doug and I were privileged to attend in person today.  I’m still pinching myself that we got to be there.  I sat up front in the Supreme Court Bar section, approximately four feet from retired Justice John Paul Stevens and about 10 feet from the Justices.  The day was full of formality – the Deputy Clerk was wearing a morning suit with tails!  What a pleasure to be there.
