Awesome display of the creative process....
This video displays the evolution of a song better than anything i think i've ever seen. Taking one idea, sharing it and letting that idea shift and morph with the perception and reaction of others.
There's also a couple great points about how digital tools don't matter if there's no built up vocabulary to pull from. They're simply another tool that are capable of being as creative as any other.

Sign of a true artist...
An amazing performance by John Butler in studio performing one of my favorite instrumental pieces. Whenever he plays it, he always adds a whole new spin on it but the emotional charge of the music remains the same.
To contrast that, here's a live performance of that same song from a couple years previous :

Making your digital recording have that analog sound
So since I started my journey as an audio engineer I've become obsessed with distortion / saturation plug ins. Putting small amounts of distortion on just about everything has made my mixing a lot better because it has a way of jelling all the individual elements with a common quality.
Because now most things are recorded in isolation and one at a time, recordings lack the quality done with an entire band in the same room and the bleed for microphones and common room tone.
So I've begun using many different plug in to simulate tape machines, vintage consoles and different tube preamps, here's a list of what I use on a regular basis and why:

I wanted to share a holiday video with all of you and this is what I’ve been working on every day since Thanksgiving!
Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker Suite is one of those tunes I’ve always intended to record. This was the year.
This tune has always had a hint of darkness that I followed around on this one and it apparently lead to electronic loops and some spy movie quotes that were left in just for fun.
I’ve made an attempt to show all of the instruments (mostly guitars) that appear on this track. This video marks the debut of me as an iPad “DJ.”

For the last few months my office has been carrying a Maca Root product that has been working freaking wonders for me. Even though I "slang" supplements for a living, I am terrible at taking my products consistently and usually will skip days or weeks on following my #holistic doctor's recommendations. iPhone fans always say it’s the best phone because it has the best overall user experience, best out-of-box experience, best industrial design, best selection of apps and a few other things perceived as being “best.”

So i thought google+ was photographer heaven?
I've been absolutely getting obsessed with every facet of photography lately ( largely originally due to the community here ) and since the design overhaul here i've found that the ability to display you're visual work has diminished.
On facebook for instance ( fb.com/lucaijohnson ) i'm given the option to highlight certain posts that then in turn take up double the real estate on my profile allowing me to really push a visual experience of what i want to represent.
Now let's say on my profile on G+ i want to showcase pictures there's still no real option for giving absolute priority to the images. What if i don't give a shit if you can see how many followers i have? Give me the option of getting rid of the side bars and let me display what i want. Would you pay to use google / youtube ?
Ever since i stopped having cable and watching the mindless ads i've noticed a very healthy change within my own thought process. We've been so mentally conditioned to accept them as a necessary evil that we seldom reflect on how harmful being told what to buy / love / hate really is.
Now let's take adsense for instance, we're told that these recommendations are helpful for you because they're relevant to you're search. Says who? We're told to buy buy buy every single seconds of our every day life, it's being relevant doesn't take away from the fact that it's still pushing us to be consumers more than creators.
It's getting to the point now where i can't watch a music video without seeing an add for fucking shampoo before it.

The old google vs the new
So i'm watching Larry's presentation and he sounding more and more like Jobs everyday, saying they want to provide an beautiful integrated experience across all their services. I love the sound of that and it needs to happen, but what scares me is why this is happening now.
I've always thought as google being the data company, the one that presents the worlds data without human bias. When it comes to design and user experience however, it begins to go in a different direction. I love the new design that is across the platform but here's the problem. People rely on google for knowledge so much that it's now boiled over into a responsibility in my eyes.
