this is why i so enjoy working with the rescue ... keidan got adopted today!!! he is the biggest, sweetest and gentlest boy ever and we all had a very soft spot in our hearts for him ... it's a little harder to find homes when they're this big (great dane/rhodesian ridgeback) ... but ... he's got his furever home and i'm sooooo happy!!!

so i got to name this little bit of heaven when she came into the rescue this morning ... found wandering on 'aviation boulevard' a local thoroughfare ... and with ears as big as those, she could probably take flight in a strong gust of wind ... my question is .... how did i resist taking her home with me??? what a cutie!!!

so i just got home from doing my thing at the rescue ... one of the puppies who got adopted two weeks ago, (her name is kira) came back for another round of puppy shots and saw her mom (her name is comet) ... and happiness ensued!!! now that's a happy mother's day shot if i ever saw one!!! #dogsrule

this is a photo of my mother, me and my grandson taken just about four years ago at her home in new jersey ... she is a fantastic, loving, giving and beautiful soul and i love her dearly ... as a mother she rocks!! but there's a twist to this mother/daughter story ... when i was seven, i went off to school one day and when i came home my biological mother had walked out the door, never to return again ... the woman in this picture is my step-mom ... she came into my life when i was eight (she was only 25) and my two brothers and i were never without a mother's love again ... blessedly, and thankfully, she's still with us and she truly is the definition of the word mother ... she won't see this post because the internet still is an alien planet to her, but, i want to publicly and unashamedly profess my undying love and gratitude for her ... she taught me what a mother's heart is! i love ... more »

Sweet Stray Needs a Home Quickly!
It's been over three years since the last time I had to make a public request for a home for a dog, but now I'm begging anyone who can take this sweet stray! I found him waddle-running down the road by my house on Thurs (April 11th, 2013). He had a broken metal cable hanging from his collar and down between his legs, and he was trying not to step on it (thus the waddling). Naturally: no tags, not neutered, probably never vaccinated, no "lost" flyers in the neighborhood or responses to my door-to-door efforts to find his owners, no one posting him lost on Craigslist or responding to my posts about him having been found. =(
He's quite shy, and it took some serious treat temptations for me to get him close enough to finally be able to make a sneaky grab for his collar. Still, he never once growled at me. And even when he was... more »

This story will warm you better than a coffee in a cold winter day:
"We enter a little coffeehouse with a friend of mine and give our order. While we're approaching our table two people come in and they go to the counter -
'Five coffees, please. Two of them for us and three suspended'
They pay for their order, take the two and leave. I ask my friend:
'What are those 'suspended' coffees ?'
'Wait for it and you will see'
Some more people enter. Two girls ask for one coffee each, pay and go. The next order was for seven coffees and it was made by three lawyers - three for them and four 'suspended'.
