These are among the most wonderful people on Google+ which I have had (past tense [addressed in post to follow]) the pleasure of interacting with.

Personally I find them to be extraordinarily humbling. I personally feel that everyone could stand to learn something from these truly #amazing people.


As is often the case with my life (https://plus.google.com/111852634847571715215/posts/jiVnm3XMnzP ) I fail. In this case I fail to be able to articulate how #inspiring / #amazing / #wonderful / #selfless these people truly are.

30 small white corn tortillas cut into 4ths

I've been thinking about Kevin Ware, laying up in a hospital bed tonight, wondering about his future, and the thoughts going through my mind informed me about a few things I want to share with you. 

You might think that you have lots of years left on this earth, lots of opportunities, options galore, but the truth is, you just dont know.

Optimism is so out of fashion, on both the left and the right, that it has become the natural state for any true contrarian. I could try to ignore that reflex and stay true to my natural dour cynicism.  But FACTS are also lining up with the rare optimists out there.  I often cite Professor Steven Pinker's proof that average, per capita levels of violence have declined steeply (if unevenly) around the world every decade since 1945.

Now Oxford University has released  a study that breaks down poverty into a ten-factor "Multidimensional Poverty Index" that encompasses nutrition, school attendance, access to clean water and electricity and so on. While there are many laggard zones of misery (e.g. Ethiopia and Malawi), there are also zones where recent good news has been  very strong. My "Thank you sharers!" circle ...

Sharing one of my posts is the biggest compliment you can pay them. It means that you liked it so much that you felt that your followers might find it interesting too. In the last month I've been blessed with plenty of shares (24 on average, according to +CircleCount) and I would like to thank you all.

These are the people who have shared my last 50ish posts. I left out those that made it into What's hot, not because I don't appreciate the shares, but because it would make the circle to big to share.
