Since then I have slowly been filling my Photography circle with more and more people. Today I wanted to share that with y'all so that you too can benefit from the awesomeness that is Google+.
This is by no means a complete list but rather a jumping off point for people struggling to get into the G+ experience. As I wrote in my article I use Google+ completely different then I use Facebook. To give you an idea I would say that 98% of my G+ activity is photography related and 2% is personal. Compare that to Facebook where I would say it is 99.9% personal and 0.01% Farmville and other BS. The nice thing about this is I know what I am going to get when I go to each. When I am in the mood for some great tips, images, articles, or discussions I head over to Google+. When I am in the mood to see pictures of my buddies new baby, be reminded of my Sister-in-laws birthday, or block Farmwille requests I hit up Facebook. Point is each is a tool and each can have a purpose, but you need a starting point. Hence the sharing of my photography circle.
One really cool thing I want to point out in case people who don't usually use the G+ service may have missed, Google+ has Hangouts! If you don't know a Hangout is basically a video chat within Google+. You can create your own, or join other peoples. Recently Google started beta testing a new feature of the Hangout where instead of having to actually join the hangout you can just watch it Live via a YouTube feed. Awesome!
So why do I like this? Well take a photographer such as +Trey Ratcliff from Stuck In Customs (one of many things). I personally would consider him one of the best photographers on the planet. He also does an amazing amount of giving back to the photography community. His site has lots of free info including a very popular HDR tutorial, and he makes posts every single day with really amazing photos and info. Now just think if you could hangout (pun intended) with him and ask him questions. Guess what, you can! Trey hosts tons and tons of hangouts. Maybe you don't want to join, but instead just want to eavesdrop a little. You can do that too. And a great bonus is Trey has lots of really awesome photography friends who often join in on his hangouts. People like +Thomas Hawk and +Lotus Carroll. Now not only are you getting to listen in on one amazing photographer, you are listening in on several amazing people talk about questions I am not even advanced enough to think of, let alone ask.
So there you have it. My second "I love Google+" post of what will probably be many. Give my photography circle a try and let me know what you think or if you have any that I might be missing since I am always looking for new photographers to follow.
Thanks! ~ Adam
