This was by far the biggest disappointment with the announcement. Much of everything else was to be expected.

Certainly not mass-market demand yet, but this is such a nice tech. And it needs to be included to drive adoption en masse.

Nice move! Important. One of the key apps for a successful mobile platform. Not availble on Tizen, Bada, Symbian etc... Limits the mass market appeal in the nd.

Guess there are a handful of apps that are "required" today. This is one of them.

There just isn't a real reason for people to buy Windows phones instead of iPhones or Android phones - features, design, price, services, anything. And until there is, the Windows phone platform isn't going to do well.

It goes to prove that people are paying for the experience. Also, prime, downtown location attracts another type of "foot" traffic instead of going to a outskirt location barn. I know where I'd rather spend my time.

Quote of the day "No one comes into the store and asks for a Windows Phone". That says it all. Not even the kickbacks to the operator store sales people are working right now. The main reasons are that Nokia/MS simply haven't got the mindshare and after all reports of high return rate from the early customers they simply don't want to sell the phones anymore.

Love Instagram? Of course you do! Yesterday it hit 6 million downloads on Android despite being purchased by big bad FB, which sparked even more controversy surrounding the app.

• Fixed Instagram photos not appearing in gallery
• Better support for Nvidia Tegra 3 handsets/tablets

iOS Share Still Growing

This data is very interesting in that iOS are still seeing gains as all the rest are flat or declining. Android is still growing in numbers, but as the same pace as the overall market.

Second half numbers this year will be even more interesting. With a slew of new (really amazing) phones on Android that are specced out; BIG screens and Quad Core processing power versus a potential iPhone 5. Can Apple maintain its performance in the high end phone market?

What we are witnessing here i the the first bit step into a downward spiral of a juggernaut. MS is right now breaking their own path to try to answer a trend that is not really applicable to their core product and audience. With the path they are currently pursuing I see them cutting their market value in half over the next 5 years.

I agree. Android OEMs will need to improve. From the outside it looks like only Samsung is carrying the flag right now. While SEMC and Moto have virtually disappeared, HTC's products are rather unimaginative and hard to tell apart. Apart from the lagging ecosystem, none of the OEMs is even able or willing to compete with Apple in terms of design, hardware and materials. There is still no answer to Apple's media store and app dominance. Most new apps are still coming out on iOS first.

It is clear the mobile is the key growth driver for game companies right now. And we are not talking about Nintendo DS or PS Vita here... Console gaming is taking a hit to from mobile. Will be very interesting to follow this segment over the next year or two. Big changes incoming.

RIM is in Trouble

They know they are in trouble, so the co-CEO's stepped down today and appointed this guy. I can only assume that the previous CEO's were looking for a fall guy. They know the company doesn't have a future with their current strategy and don't want to be at the helm when the ship goes down.

Thorsten Heins is not the guy to turn the company around. RIM needs a "burning platform" CEO to shake up the company and try something new.

PS Vita Now Selling Less than PSP in Japan

One month old and numbers are looking very bleak indeed. After the fan crowd got theirs - over 300k sold on release week it is not really moving into mass market. Same story for 3DS which is also a sad story overall.

Guess what! Time have changed. My prediction is that we will see similar trend for the next-gen consoles. Most people are happy with the game experience on their phones and pads today. They are also not prepared to buy games for $50-100 USD a pop.

Pads and phones are the new handheld gaming devices, bring Mario on Zelda to them and you will see amazing sales. For pure gaming consoles I see no future. They need to transform into a different beast all together and I see a subscription model of some sort on the horizon.
