Video about the proposed Pebble Mine going into the Bristol Bay region of Alaska.  This is where I take most of my images, would not be much reason to return if the mine destroys the fishing.

This image exploded on my Blog last night and made it to the Tumblr Radar.

I had very mixed feelings about this image, and the previously posted ariel shot taken a few moments prior to this one.  They were shot on a Canon G12, a camera that I purchased to shoot Time-lapses, but turned out to be a great camera for "in a pinch" situations.

This was shot through the back seat window of a DeHavilland beaver.  A plant that is cramped to begin with, but know has 4 passengers, 1 pilot, and a ton of gear in it.  Trying to maneuver a DSLR with a lens on it is a challenge to say the least.  I can't tell you how many times I have been jolted forward and whacked the lens on the window of the plane.

Another Ariel shot posted to the Blog last week.

This is one of my absolute favorite places in Alaska.  What you see is the estuary of an unpronounceable pair of rivers, known as Rainbow and Wrong turn.  Just off the left is the Bering Sea and the Walrus Islands, and off to the right is the confluence of the two rivers.  You can see the Bristol Bay Lodge overnight camp there in the middle.

Watch out Spidey, the Empire is on the prowl!

Something a little different from me.

Shot this from the ferris wheel in the Times Square Toys “R” Us store, while on vacation with the family in NYC a few weeks ago.

This is one of the first shots taken with my Canon 7D.  was still learning the camera at the time.

I figure a lot of people on the North Front Range are sick of all this snow.

GET OVER IT!! ;-) We live in Colorado at 5000 feet or above, it is supposed to be this way!  Soon enough it will be hot, dry, and we will all be worrying about fires, dry rivers, dead grass, etc...

Get out there and lets enjoy the moisture while we have it!

I don’t think I have shared this before, but if I did it was as a different edit.

I stumbled across this image while looking for some Mountain shots for my wife.  The image was edited a while ago and was a tight cropped wide aspect view panorama, very indicative of my style of shots just a year ago.  When I saw it, I figured there must have been something outside the crop that I did not like, but sure enough there was not, this is the entire image.  I liked the rest of the edit and toning, but it was done in an older version of Lightroom, so I updated the process, which immediately rendered the image too bright, so a few quick re-edits and it was back to what I think is actually better then the first edit, and in full image size.  Considering this was shot on a 30D 8.2 MP camera, the more image you can keep the better.

A Glimpse.

Can you see the Mountain?

Sometimes a glimpse is all you get of the ridge line of the pass you are flying through in the fickle Alaskan weather.  But, as an experienced bush pilot once told me, a glimpse is all you need if you know your surroundings.

Bush pilots are an amazing group, we fished with a commercial pilot, owned his own Cessna as well, once and relayed stories.  He said he would sit in the co-pilot seat of the Beaver and see everything the pilot was doing and seeing, but he felt like there was no way he could have safely flown that plan through that terrain, he just was not seeing the slight changes in shadows and patterns know where the pass was and maintain a safe distance from the mountains.

Stumbled across a few more iPhone images from Alaska.

Shot this from the Dillingham Airport over the runway.  Just loved the structure of this, especially with the tree line in silhouette.
