A couple of images from Abaco Lodge in the Bahamas.  This is one of the premier Bonefishing lodges in the Bahamas.  It is a terrific facility managed and run by a terrific crew.  The weather did not cooperate with us while we were down there, and as a result we had lack luster fishing, but still caught fish every day.

The Lodge is located right across from the Marls, a 300 square mile area that is considered to be the best bone fishery in the Bahamas.  this was actually part of the reason we were not able to fish the Marls while we were there.  The area is a vast, shallow area that under normal conditions makes for ideal sight fishing.  However, the wind was so high while we were there that the water was actually being blown out of the Marls and it was too shallow to get a flats boat in.  Oh well, maybe next time...

New York City shots from earlier this year.

Just got back from the Bahamas Bone Fishing at the Abaco Lodge.  If you can imagine the worst weather possible for Bonefishing, that is what we had all week, rain, clouds, windy, and cold.

In 20+ years of fishing trips with my father we have never cut a trip short on purpose, but we skipped out on this one 2 full days early!

I still got some shots from it though and those will be coming out in the next few weeks.  I might throw a full review of the lodge up on my Blog in that time as well, if there is interest.  The short and sweet of it is that the Abaco lodge and crew are AMAZING, but the fishery they have available to them is VERY weather dependent, so the likelihood of being "blown-out" all week like we were, is relatively higher at this lodge then it's sister lodge Bairs on Andros.

The Beaver's view! (all you dirty minded people should not get your hopes up, or anything else up for that matter)

This tree fascinated me last year, as followers will no doubt recognize it from other shared images.

In a land where beaver damns and lodges are around every bend in the river, it is surprising to see this tree still standing, especially sense it is clearly already dead.  My hunch is that it will not be there this summer if I return to the same spot.  Either a Beaver, or the harsh Alaskan winter will have taken it down.

Glad I was able to capture some images of it while I could.

Pre-Sunrise.

A beautiful golden alaskan sunrise, shot off the dock at Bristol Bay Lodge.

I have been a bit pre-occupied this week, evident by the low number of posts.  The day job has been very busy, which is good as well.

Next week I will be out, hopefully get some great shots to share in the future.  Today I will try and post a number of shots that I have been meaning to share for a few weeks.

This image exploded on my Blog last night and made it to the Tumblr Radar.

I had very mixed feelings about this image, and the previously posted ariel shot taken a few moments prior to this one.  They were shot on a Canon G12, a camera that I purchased to shoot Time-lapses, but turned out to be a great camera for "in a pinch" situations.

This was shot through the back seat window of a DeHavilland beaver.  A plant that is cramped to begin with, but know has 4 passengers, 1 pilot, and a ton of gear in it.  Trying to maneuver a DSLR with a lens on it is a challenge to say the least.  I can't tell you how many times I have been jolted forward and whacked the lens on the window of the plane.

Between the G12 and the Pure app on my spare iPhone, I got some surprisingly good images from the air last year without having to open up the pelican case and get my DSLRout... more »

This image has been my most successful image ever shared.  It went up on my Blog, http://blog.fishphotog.com, last week while I was out of town.  Yesterday and Monday the image blew up  on Tumblr...

I like the image, but would have never thought it would have reached that level of popularity.  I always surprises me to see what images others like, so often it they are not the images that I like the most.

Originally I had intended to make this a black and white image and try to focus the viewer on the tiny bit of mountain peaking through the mountains.  however, in the end this is the result that I liked the most.
