I'm pretty sure a ven diagram of Donald Trump supporters and football fans looks like a single circle. Either Trump is intentionally trying to sabotage his campaign or he really really really can't stand when he's not the center of attention. Actually I know it's the latter, just wondering if it's also the former. I don't care about the superbowl or Trump, but for some reason his constant negativity about anything American really wears me out.

What the fuck does this even mean? Has anyone ever said a problem is the absence of an idea? No! Why do people create this bullshit? I know why people share it: they think they're being profound.

In case anyone is wondering, no this isn't a real long lost 80s classic. But it almost looks like it could be.

After Bernie's "big win" in New Hampshire I've seen a lot more negativity towards both him and Hillary from the left. Yes, Democrats bashing other Democrats. We are our own worst enemy. If we lose this election it will be our own fault and not because of anything the other side says or does.

Support your own candidate. Convince your friends to turn out and vote. But please please please don't start knocking the other Democratic candidate. It hurts our side. If we want a Democrat to win in November we need them both to look strong and viable right now. The other side is watching us, and so are the undecided voters. We want them to see the two best candidates, not the two worst.

And if your preferred candidate is not the nominee don't act all butt hurt and refuse to vote. Not voting at all is half-a-vote for the Republicans. Voting third-party is the same. If... more »

And in the mean time, if you don't have something nice to say about one of our two candidates don't say anything at all. Democrats lose elections by not voting.

I will vote either Sanders or Clinton in November. I'm not delusional enough to think a third-party candidate has any chance. It's going to be a D or an R. Let's make sure it's a D.___

Byron Katie is another peddler of meaningless profound statements. What the fuck does this even mean? Let's say I was going to heed this advice, what would I actually do differently?

I wish people would think before sharing shit like this. Only share it if it actually makes sense to you, and you're doing what it says to do. If not, then don't share it.

If people did that, then people like Deepak Chopra and Byron Katie would vanish. And so would the people who try to define light and dark and say it has something to do with problems and ideas and solutions and all that non-sense.

Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it profound or "deep". It's actually meaningless gibberish.

I don't have kids, or ride public transit, but I had no problem figuring this one out right away. First comment with the correct answer (and reason, because otherwise it's just a 50/50 guess) wins one and a half internets.

Why do Republican lawmakers insist on involving themselves in the private sexual activities of consenting adults? This isn't their usual involvement with the gays, this targets all adults. A woman could get 15 years in prison for giving her husband a blow job, seriously. And a convicted sex offender could get life. It is actually possible to become a sex offender for peeing on the side of a deserted road.

This certainly seems like a "two strikes" law, because after being convicted of the first blow job, you'd become a sex offender and the second blow job could get you a life sentence. They claim this is to protect animals, but I wouldn't even give someone who committed sexual acts with an animal life in prison.

Stuff like this really irritates me. The truth is too much for some people. The truth is, the FDA has never "proven" anything to be "safe and effective". It is up to drug manufacturers to test their creations. The manufacturers give these test results, often multiple multi-year studies, to the FDA and the FDA decides if the manufacturer is being honest when it claims its drug is safe and effective. I guess the sentence could be rewritten as "was first proven to be 'safe and effective' to the FDA". Big difference!

BTW if you see "rawforbeauty" or "naturalnews" on a meme you can be sure it's less than honest.

I'd forgotten about this, but it's true. Clinton did in fact claim violent video games were linked to violent behavior and tried to get "M" (Mature) and "AO" (Adults Only) games banned from sale to those under 17.

Video games are, of course, an art form and protected by the 1st amendment. Not to mention that there is no evidence that violent games make violent kids. Some people seem to have trouble with the idea that video games are art. At a basic level they are interactive stories. You might think of them as very complex Mad-libs.

The film industry self-regulates to enforce those under 17 from seeing "R" rated movies. The video game industry also self-regulates to enforce those under 17 from buying "M" and "AO" games. There is no need for such a law, and such a law would be just as unconstitutional as a law preventing minors... more »

A dumbass politician in California has proposed a law that ostensibly would mandate backdoors to encryption on smartphones. I'm pretty sure this won't go anywhere. As introduced it reads:

This bill would require a smartphone that is manufactured on or after January 1, 2017, and sold in California, to be capable of being decrypted and unlocked by its manufacturer or its operating system provider.

Luckily that's so vague as to be unenforceable. Smartphone isn't defined. Could an iPad with cellular data be considered a smartphone? Could an iPhone be considered a pocket computer?

The bill only says that it is capable of being decrypted, but not by what means. Basically, if provided with the user's password Apple would be capable of decrypting an iPhone.

I take that thing about being a real man back, because I didn't actually get a toolbox. I got a tool bag. And my tools are a mix of tools, electronics stuff, and crafting tools and supplies. I prefer the bag to a tool box because I can see everything at once. No digging around looking for what I need. I guess I'm about as much of a man as can be expected of a guy who made his own light-up shoes. Maybe I should add some lights to my tool bag?

I've been working on the business side of my light-up shoe business today. My first prototype shoes had about $130 in parts, and took me almost 4 hours to make. After consulting with the person who is going to be my first beta tester, I narrowed down the parts list a bit. I also sourced parts and supplies from China instead of from Amazon which brings down costs quite a bit (the lights themselves went from $65 to $20). My final cost to customize a pair of shoes is now only $35.63 and will take only an hour of my time. This cost optimization will allow me to sell them on Etsy for around $100 instead of $200 with the customer providing their own shoes.

After my first beta user has a chance to put the shoes through their paces I'll be looking for more testers. Testers will need to ship me a pair of shoes and pay for the return shipping at least, and maybe pay for parts depending on how close... more »

I watched a science-y thing last night that made a good argument against intelligence evolving by default: sharks have been evolving in the oceans for 400 million years and have not evolved intelligence.

And take a look at what humans have done with intelligence. We've brought the planet to the bring of uninhabitability. Whether we slowly poison our atmosphere and water, or kill ourselves off with a nuclear bomb, I believe humanity will bring about its own demise.

I don't think there is intelligent life out there to be found. Either it simply isn't a trait that evolves with any regularity, or intelligent life always ends up wiping itself out.

This is the final design of the shoes I've been working on. I got the parts for these from Amazon. Now that I've finalized my design I've ordered the parts in bulk from China. I'll make a bunch more shoes and a good video of them in April when I have a model to show them off on video.

Are there opium dens open to the public? Or are they like private clubs where you have to know a member to get in? I'd really like to find an opium den.

I love my Project Fi. Just $23.38 this month because I don't pay for data I don't use. My bill has never been over $25 except for the first month.

I think Hillary Clinton just changed my opinion on the death penalty. Or maybe she helped me clarify it a bit. I have always been against the death penalty in all cases because I don't think the state can say "killing is wrong so we are going to kill you".

Clinton said she supports the death penalty in very limited circumstances for very heinous crimes and that got me thinking.

I now believe the death penalty is appropriate for treason when someone directly kills, unprovoked, a representative of the government. That doesn't mean killing a police officer. But if someone were to assassinate the president I think the death penalty would be appropriate. There are other offices I think may apply, perhaps a supreme court judge. I'd have to think about it more.

But due to the complexity of deciding what is a treasonous murder against the state, I'm going to stick with my stance that the death penalty is always wrong. Hillary nearly got me to change my mind on that. Amazing!___

So the 10000mAh is a flat out lie. I'm not surprised, but shouldn't this be illegal? It's 20% less than it claims. What if a TV said it was 40" but turned out to be only 32"? Surely that would be illegal. In fact, isn't it even less than this since it's a 5v output but a 3.7 battery? It claims to be a 50.0Wh battery but it's really just over half that at 29.6Wh.

My network sure is getting crowded. This is only about half the devices that end up connected at a time.

I got a new heavy duty toothbrush because I'm sick of having them wear out and having to be replaced every six months. This one looks a bit more durable.

If I leave you strange comments or make oddball posts, just ignore me. I've been sick and I took some cough medicine earlier that's made me kind of loopy. I'll go back to bed and sleep it off just as soon as FedEx gets here with my packages of fun!

A while back I dropped T-mobile to go with Google's Project Fi but today I switched... to Sprint. I got this phone, it's the best Sprint offers. And for signing a 5 year contract they gave me a free case!
