I am very excited to finally be able to reveal my new website. A clean, almost minimalist design, large and responsive images, totally revamped galleries, a new blog platform, a new domain name... There is little that hasn't changed!

Please go take a look now, I assure you it's worth spending a few minutes on there!

Very proud to take part to the 3rd Mont Blanc Photo Festival which opened this weekend in the villages of Saint Gervais, Sallanches, Combloux and les Contamines. I will have outdoor prints exhibited in the main square of Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc and four beautiful fine art prints in the newly renovated Maison Forte de Hautetour, all until September 15th, so do come and take a look if you have the chance.

Even better, this image, from my 2011 attempt on the Nose, won the Prix Coup de Coeur from the jury yesterday!

The standout shot from Dave MacLeod and Calum Muskett's third ascent of Paciencia, the hardest route on the north face of the Eiger. A lot of work to get up there, but as always, oh so worth it in the end!

Here, Dave redpointing the sustained 8a crux pitch, toward the top of the Rote Fluh.

I have just returned from a wonderful expedition to Eastern Greenland. Despite five days of waiting a storm stuck in our tents, it has been a very successful trip, with multiple first ascents, no injuries and good times had by all.

Here's a view of our camp at nearly midnight, on the last few hours of clear weather for quite a while. There are worse places to be.

I hope everybody had a great Christmas morning, including lots of mountain and photo related gifts.

As promised, here comes the launch of my wee summit game, with 10 summits to guess, plus the mountain range/country and the exact location this was taken from. Of course, there is a HD version over on http://www.alexandrebuisse.org/summit-game/summit-01-riddle-hd.jpg

You can find all the details of how to participate on the dedicated page on my website, http://www.alexandrebuisse.org/summitgame. Please check it out before submitting anything (I will delete any facebook comments giving answers). You have until the 28th at 8pm CET to answer this one, then I'll post the solution and move on to the next image.

Have fun!

So, there is this extra print I have at home that's just dying to be given away... I'm thinking of organising a small competition on facebook, posting a new (never seen before) landscape shot and awarding points to people who can identify the mountains visible on it.

Who'd be up for it? Probably a picture a day for a week, sometime around New Year.

Francis looking at something that wasn't to be, the fantastic ice sculptures of Cold Couloir in Cogne. Even though it was reportedly still good yesterday, the warm temperatures took their toll, and the ice was just not thick enough to climb safely...
So it goes when the game is to climb those ephemeral formations.

I was going through some old shots when I found some images I shot at sunrise from the summit of 5860m Nevado Yannapaccha, back in June 2009. I had intended to stitch them into a full 360º panorama but somehow never got around to it.

Well, 4.5 years later, here it is. And you can check the full version, zoomable and all, on http://www.gigapan.com/gigapans/146576

I spent the past couple of days in the great Envers hut, climbing on perfect sunny granite with a very good friend... Times are rough!

The highlight of the trip was Children of the Moon Intégrale, 600m of sustained 6a climbing, going up the very pointy Aiguille de Roc (though sadly with no proper summit). Here is Rune on the most beautiful pitch, the Z crack of P15. Granite with a view.

Finding lightweight, secure ways to keep the camera readily accessible while climbing or skiing can often be the crux of any shoot for adventure photographers. For the past two years, I have been using the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip system, and liked it so much I accepted to join their pro team.

The good news is that after much feedback from myself and plenty of others, they came up with a much improved redesign, Capture v2. The biggest thing for me is that the tightening screws are much easier to operate, don't destroy your fingers like the old ones and don't dig into hips/shoulders when used on a harness or backpack strap like the old one tended to.

Just like the first version, this is currently being launched on Kickstarter, until the end of August, so head over to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/97103764/capture-camera-clip-v2 if you want to get an early copy. I... more »

I believe prices are cheaper as well if you order before the funding has ended.___

Very exciting last few days, as we made it to sunny Arco for its famed Monte Brento BASE jumping. Though I am the only sucker trekking the long-ish approach without a parachute, I am rewarded with views like this, a bunch of people hurling themselves from very, very big cliffs (think El Cap with crappy rock).

I also shot some truly incredible video footage today, thanks to Kemeter Mich. Hopefully another shoot tomorrow and the filming will be a wrap, videos to be released in six instalments later this summer.

Quick frame grab from today's footage in the beautiful Austrian Alps. Notice the absence of harness, or rope, or quickdraws...

One of my favourite mountain flying shots, showing Dylan Taylor on his Ozone Paragliders Alpina above Col du Plan, about to drop in the Grand Envers route down Vallée Blanche, after taking off from Aiguille du Midi.

One of my favorite shots of the second day in Annecy, thanks to the great light over the lake! Pilots Tristan Shu Photography and Mika Régnier of ITV-Parapentes, in a transition to Roc des Boeufs.

It's a wrap! Two days of alpine photography workshops for the second Arc'teryx Alpine Arc'ademy, here in Chamonix. We had challenging weather conditions, especially on Saturday, but managed to have fun while staying at the Cosmiques hut, walking to Pointes Lachenal or across Vallée Blanche, and I hope everybody had a good time and learned a thing or two.
