Lambda Labs Is Launching A Facial Recognition API For Google Glass

+Sarah Perez of +TechCrunch: "Lambda Labs, an early stage startup out of San Francisco, is preparing to release a facial recognition API for developers working on Google Glass apps. The API will be available to interested developers within a week, company co-founder Stephen Balaban says. The move comes on the heels of a Congressional inquiry into Google’s new wearable technology, still very much in the prototype phase."

Woa. Tumblr is in talks with Yahoo about an acquisition. Adweek's sources say the deal could reach $1 billion. Facebook and Microsoft have also shown interest in Tumblr, though Yahoo's negotiations have put Tumblr under a lockup.

"As long rumored, YouTube is launching paid channels in a pilot program starting today. A small number of channels, including Sesame Street and UFC, will begin offering channels that can only be accessed after paying an apparently variable subscription fee, which starts at $0.99 per month. This is one of my favourite product marketing stories.

When shopping carts were first invented, they didn't catch on because of the social stigma attached to them. The inventor, Sylvan Goldman, hired male and female models to walk around his store using them. Soon after, the shopping cart was a huge success and Goldman became a multi-millionaire.
