OK, so the experiment lasted for a year and a half. (or was it two?) Buuuut, the time has come for me to submit to the monster once again.

Frankly, not having a Facebook account did in fact made gigging and networking more difficult. It's a shame, but it's true.

So... I guess you can like it and stuff.

This is now probably how I will make all my club edits of songs now. I played around with version 1.0 and kinda liked it but lacked the tools I needed to really do what I wanted.

The addition of looping, split tracks, and ability to cut/past individual audio sections finally seat this software firmly into the "buy" category.

You add in it's remarkable ease of use, integration with your MIK library, and it's "harmonic compatibility" rating system and this is definitely a tool to keep an eye out for.

Like I said, I'm definitely using it for my club edits of tracks.

B-Movies Sometimes Teach Us About Life

Guitar Wolf's Rock and Roll zombie flick "Wild Zero" is one of my favorite movies of all time. I first saw it in 2002 and it's become a yearly staple for me. If you need a movie about punk rock, zombies, alien cattle, laser guitar picks, flame throwing microphones, and a queer (or perhaps trans?) love story then you're in luck!

Real life Japanese garage punk rock band Guitar Wolf takes us on an epic journey of love, rock and roll, and epic final battles.

But one of my favorite lines from the film is when Guitar Wolf, acting as a sort of non-corporeal moral compass to the lead character, tells the lead, "Love has no borders, nationalities, or genders!"

Local and international top vocalist (and member of my music family) Miss Palmer just had a new track drop. And it's ama-za-zing. She did a live version of this track on monday and it killed. This girl has a voice that can tear right through the mix into your soul.

I'm hitting the studio with her later this month, and I can't wait to see what we end up coming up with! :)

I've been pretty quiet about this new frontier in bullshit that the right wing of the country has started on. Not for a lack of caring, but because my time/energy has been spent on music.

I have so many feelings to unpack on all this. But what I'll say is that it's conversations like this, and the sexism inherent in them, that set a tone for women in this country.

While the amount of fucks I give about Rush Limbaugh and other hate merchants is categorically ZERO, It actually doesn't change that what he said was a blunt way of saying what the rest of the right has been saying all along.

I'm flat TIRED of men, who don't understand a woman's body, reproductive system, or medicine, instructing women the proper way of living and executing our health care decisions.

OK, because I just had a discussion on zombie survival I felt like this warranted a share.

It's my contention that a tool like this LOOKS like it would be useful, but in practice ends up being useless. Personally, I'm a big fan of the hand axe. No reloading, easily sharpened, the reverse end is a hammer, it can a bashing, cutting, or slashing, or stabbing tool, and it's remarkably portable.

But the real question I have for you guys. What is your feeling on urban centers? I feel like an urban center is the prime location to be during the initial days/weeks of a zombie scenario. Tall buildings for easy evac, and avoidance of the walking dead, easy access for raiding supplies (abandoned residencies and grocery). The only problem is the increase in population and likely the walking dead. I kind of feel like bugging out would be a last resort, and something only reserved... more »

OK, so I've left UnNamedROM and moved to Calkulin's. It's definitely faster than UnNamed, but it seems like battery life is just as bad as unnamed suddenly got.

My battery draining all the way by 2pm. While I used to get home before my battery died.

I'm hoping my battery isn't just dying way early.

Anyway, it's certainly more stable/rugged than it used to be. I'll chill with this ROM for a while until we get a good solid ICS ROM/kernel.

OK, so I actually can't wait to get my hands on this product. have about 4 MIDIFighters, from all it's iterations, as well as a few arcade controllers I've built myself, and I do love it.

I've used everything from a WiiMote to a RockBand Controller, to a powerglove live, so I'm not stranger to interesting and unique controller applications. My favorite aspect about controllerism is the intense visual storytelling that happens when a controllerist DJ applies his techniques visually as wel as with the music. So, when I used the WiiMote to control FX visually with where my hands went, it told a story. Especially when I put it in the hands of an audience member.
