#onegoodthing Solar panels generating more electricity that it uses at a football stadium. Hell yes. I am totally in favor of putting these on every building roof we can and exploiting the Day Star.

If lab grown meat isn't your thing - here's a flower resurrected from a 30,000 year extinction. Yeah - that's right, science can resurrect things.

Meat grown in a lab.

Let me say that again - meat grown in a lab, and I say this is a good thing. Because perhaps there will be a day when we don't have massive pig farms polluting the environment with acres of suffering. Or cows dragged upsidedown through a factory screaming.

Don't get me wrong - I eat meat. I worked on a farm, killed chickens and helped with the pigs and cow butchering. I've seen the animals named and then killed. But at least I knew where that animal was from, I helped raise it, I appreciated its death and didn't let it go to waste.

But lab grown meat, that could feed millions, that could solve so many problems? I'll go for that.

So Praise Science.

I have a confession.

I don't like the character Deanna Troi.

Don't get me wrong - very pretty lady, nice eyes, so on and so forth.

But her character was so - pointless.

Klingon: Picard! I will destroy your ship piece by piece while you watch helplessly! And while you lay dying, I will break open your chest, pull out your heart, and devour it while you watch!

Picard: Counselor?

Troi: I sense - anger.....

This is what I'm cranking through my ears right now. For some reason, whenever I hear this song I think of Ghandi or Dr. King. Don't know why, but I need something to make me feel like kicking ass. And what does it more than hip hop crossed with opera?

Yeah. It's a Friday and I'm thinking.

I'm thinking about the Borg.About how people shoot phasers at them, and after a few hits, they stop working because the "Borg just keep adapting to our energy patterns."

Soooo - why not switch to simple like a gun that's made of matter and not energy? Sometimes those simple techniques of "hit it with a rock cause then you can't absorb the energy from it" work really, really well.

Sooo - watching Breaking Dawn. And I just got to the part that probably made every teenage girl say OMG I'M NEVER GETTING PREGNANT EVER!

2012-02-14 01:11:24 (1 comments, 0 reshares, 1 +1s)

Soooo - I'm sitting in a room. With a friend who's going to watch Breaking Dawn. I didn't see the last movie, but I imagine it went "glitter glitter werewolf she's my girlfriend yeah well I have hair THE END."

I'm going to be updating just this post.

10 seconds into the movie and the werewolf takes off his shirt. Really.

Edward is so broody. "I'd show an motion but that require I act like I have one."

I keep waiting for Bella's dad to tell her "I couldn't tell you this until your wedding day, but you're descended from a line of vampire hunters. Thought you should know in case you ever meet one."

My phone just toppled itself off of my chair. I think it was trying to commit suicide.

I swear. This girl looks like she's going to barf. I thought women were supposed to be happy... more »

Coworker: What were we going to do on this project?

Me: I wrote down what we said a month ago. You wanted to make this SQL scheme, then have so-and-so develop X, then turn it over to person Y for validation.

Coworker: Oh yeah! This contains everything we need to do!

Me: Organization and task tracking, suckers. I gots it.

Coworker: You a bad mother-

Me: Shut yo' mouth.

Coworker: I'm just talking about Tasks!

Based on an earlier idea (and a valid point from +Ray Taylor III ) I'm going to create a new circle, perhaps even a new page called "One Good Thing."

The idea is to find that one good thing of the day that makes you happy. I'll try to keep it as non-partisan as possible. It might be light, it might be big, it might matter to only a few people.

But there it is. If you'd like to be part of my One Good Thing circle, I guess let me know.

And now back to hunting people down and making them do things they'd rather not. I'm talking about work, people. Be good.

Go figure.

I've realized - thanks to a friend - I've been more doom and gloom at times than I should be.

So, here's me talking about something good in the world. I'm going to try very hard to pick one thing a day, and if it seems petty to you - bear with me.

I'm very happy about the growing trend of independent gaming. People like Notch, or the developers of "The Binding of Isaac" or other small teams, just doing what they love - and getting paid for it.

Oh, sure - not every game project is going to do well or deserves to. But in an era where it seems like big companies churn out "stuff" every year, it's good to see someone doing something that they love, getting rewarded for it - and helping to spread that around.

Just to show I'm not all doom and gloom:

This weekend I introduced two grown ups I know to the new My Little Pony show. And they liked it.

So at the recommendation of a friend, I read through the main story behing "Rising Stars", the comic book series who's story was created by J. Michael Straczynski. You know - the guy behind Babylon Five.

I liked it. There were some elements of "Ok, at what point do you need to figure out DON'T MESS AROUND WITH SUPER POWERFUL PEOPLE YOU MORONS," and some characters coming out and saying things I wouldn't expect of them.

But most of all, I liked that there was a beginning, a middle, and an end. Even if the middle did feel like a repeat only on a bigger scale. (Specials make things better, military gets upset, tries to take out the specials, specials retaliate, specials make things better, military gets upset....)
