I had a break from G+ for almost a month. I was not that I did not want to post anything, I was just too busy to do it. The main reason was a competition at www.Kaggle.com, which I have finished at 24th place (out of 112). Not bad, but also not very good. Anyway, I am back.

Amazing #1

It is amazing how a weather can differ between the countries, even in Europe. Last weekend I went back home to Poland, and there was already a snow falling. On Friday we got like 10-15cm of it. Some trees had still green leaves, and they broke down under the weight of the snow. Whereas, here in the UK, there is no snow and he temperature during the day is around +5C. Pretty amazing.

Fog #1

What I like the most about this country, and hate on the other hand, is the weather. I like it as a photographer, and I hate it as a commuter. This explains a lot. At least we have good weather most of the weekends, so far.

Chinese gate #1

I was surprised to see Chinese gates in Liverpool and Manchester. Both of them were common, but somehow the one in Liverpool was better situated. It looked like if it was a gate and not something put just in the middle of nowhere, because there were Chinese restaurants all around.

Stone bench #1

I am kind of person that does not like to sit on a cold/wet bench. Hence, I do not understand the ones that design benches made of stone or metal, or the ones that keep water after the rain - believe me it is not so uncommon. They are just too cold for me to use in other way than as a part of my pictrures. ;)

Google Data Center #1

I have been to the Google office in Zurich few years ago, and about half a year ago in the office in Brussels but I was always curious how the Google's data center look like. Now you can have a walk around one of them. The street view is available for Google Data Center in Lenoir, NC. Have a look at the link below. Still, I have few more Google offices to visit. ;)

I wonder is it the most popular street name in the UK. Beside Princess Street there is also Queens Street. Which do you think is more popular?

The picture is a little overexposed, but I like it this way as it made two signs unreadable.

At first glance the original picture, before post processing, did not look so old. But Lightroom magic can do a lot. So, those are not so old stairs from one of the Liverpool's museums.

The cathedral #1

This is the second cathedral in Liverpool. Ths first one, I have published pictures of, was Anglican, and this one is Catholic. The angle from which I have taken the picture is quite strange, as I do not have a tripod and I had to find a place where I could put the camera for few seconds. However, the church itself is also strange as it has an altar in the centre.

John Rylands Library #1

I did not mind that tripods were not allowed, I do not have one here in the UK. Hence, this picture was taken from the stairs in the John Rynalds Library in Manchester. Three shots combined in CS6 0.3s,1/10s,1/45s @ 17mm f/5.6 ISO100.My only problem are the windows. There were bluish, but I do not know how to make them less shiny/glow. 

Any tips?

Black Swan #1

It should rather be called swan in black and white. However, I thought that i might start cropping pictures a little bit more since Google resizes everything to 2048 pixels. This way it will give me more power over my images. Like the picture below, I was not so far away from the swan but the most I can get of my lens is only 55mm. Hence, the cropping. Hope you like it.

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts #1

It is an exhibition next to the building of The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, abbreviated as LIPA. What makes it even more funny is that the word lipa means in Polish linden/lime, or in common language something shoddy or bosh. In general we something poorly made or executed.

Rest #1

I am in the UK since the beginning of July, since then I have been to Bimingham, London, Warwick Castle, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Chester, Southport, and Liverpool. Probably next week I will go to Oxford. I would also like to be able to spend few days in London, as I have been there only for one day.

I do not remember did I write about it or not, but the promenade by the river in Liverpool is one of my favourite places to take pictures. Why? Because there is often harsh light, which makes it easy to take silhouette type pictures, and beside there is often, if not always, a kind of strong wind.
