J Smilanic1,401100 Great photographers --- read, add circle and reshare*[Photography Circle]This is my main photography circle. A little over a week ago I added my 100th person to this circle and said I would share it. Since then I've added a couple more. I don't like a busy feed so I've been very selective about who I have added to all my circles. Everyone in this circle has some serious talent, and mostly just post their photography.Granted most of the people in this circle already have a good following but if you don't already follow these people you should. I'd like to point out a few of my favorites:+Ashley Dawn Crouse  - My favorite thing about Ashley is that she has style. I can be scrolling through my feed and come up on one of her photos and know exactly whose it is. Consistent quality work.+Takahiro Yamamoto  - One of the first photographers I started following on GPlus over a year ago. Takahiro can shoot it all but I especially love his nighttime and long exposure shots.+Rznag Rmrod  - Someone else who can do it all. From IR to landscapes to #urbex , he makes it work. But really, everyone in this circle is great. I hope no one feels left out. If you'd like me to share my other photography circles let me know.2012-07-30 23:09:55104705
Margaret Tompkins25,055<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Great Photographers With < 25,000 FollowersThe photographers here are all in my personal circles.  The choices are mine and mine alone.  No one asked, begged, or pleaded to belong.  No bribes were offered or accepted.  These are the people that I follow because I appreciate their great quality photography and their interaction.  Most I have met as I help curate several of the photography themes.  There are NO requirements to share this circle.  I would appreciate the people in this circle plus the post, leave a comment, and share the circle as public.  Each profile has been verified by me.  Each has < 25,000 followers (when they were put into the circle), and most are between 10,000 and 25,000 followers.  They each have high quality original photography content.  You won’t find many animated gifs!I wasn’t included, what do I do?  If you meet the criteria, weren’t included, but think you should be, then leave me a comment.  Maybe I don’t know about you.  There are millions of people on G+ and I don’t know everyone.  However, I’ll be happy to have a look at your work if you will call it to my attention. There’s a really great photographer XXX that you didn’t include.  Please feel free to recommend qualified people.  I discover new people every day and would be happy to look at their work.  Please make sure that the recommended person meets the criteria.  If they don’t then that tells me a lot about you! #Circleshare     #Sharedcircles  2012-07-25 23:09:23497209111208

Robert Scoble1,236,665500 Hand Picked Photographers. Unfortunately only 500 people can be shared (I have 617 in this circle). I also am near my maximum of 5,000 circled (Google keeps me from circling more) so it's tough to add more, but I'm always looking to see more great photography, so if you aren't in this circle, leave your URL below so we can all check you out.By the way, I need to go through all my circles and look for inactive people again. It's been a while since I did that. If I were you I'd throw these 500 into a temporary circle, watch it for a while and move the ones you like into a circle of your own.Thank you to those of you who bring beauty into our lives. Everytime I need some inspiration I look to this circle.2012-04-22 18:03:4850014653148

Once when it got to 500 and then again when it got to 1,000. Today my circle hit 1,500 so I'm sharing them again.I have to break them up into 500 person circles because this is the limit on Google+. Also Google limits the number of people you can add to circles per day so I'm going to publish my kick ass photographers circle over 3 days. Today I'm publishing A-G. Tomorrow I'll publish G-O. Friday I'll publish P-Z. By last name.In addition to the kick ass photographers in these circles I've also added three other accounts. Our new photography hangout show which will be on live tonight at 8PM PST +Photo Talk Plus as well as our show's sponsors +Drobo and +SmugMug as a way of saying thanks to them.A few notes about these circles. not to be long-winded, but…Every time I've shared my circles I've gotten haters from it. People who are upset that they are not in them. I absolutely detest that. It makes me not even want to share them because of that. These circles are not meant to be the definitive list of what photographers you should be following on Google+. These circles are simply who I have chosen to follow for photography on Google+ for my own personal consumption. I want to share them because I think YOU may also benefit from having these rich, talented, kick ass photographers in your streams. This is the circle that I browse every single day looking for great stuff to +1 and comment on Google+ and as such it reflects my own personal biases. For example. I hate looking at watermarks. This is a personal preference thing. If you use them, more power to you. It's absolutely your right. But as a consumer of photography I find them ugly and distracting and so I tend not to follow people who use them. This is not a big deal. This is not a personal attack against you if you watermark. This isn't even a universal rule of mine. I do have a few friends who use them that I still follow. But by and large, what you get with my circles is a watermark/signature free circle. I also prefer people who are active on Google+ both in terms of posting and in terms of contributing to the community. If the last photo you posted was in November, I probably won't have you in this list.If you were in my photographers circle before but removed, it could be for a lot of these sorts of reasons. Watermarks/sigs, not posting enough, posting too much non photography stuff that I'm not interested in, or all kinds of other things. Who knows. But it's most definitely not personal. (Unless I'm blocking you and then maybe it is personal). Also if you are not in these circles it may simply be because we don't know each other yet. In time perhaps we will become great friends (hopefully). Or you may not be in these circles just 2012-01-18 23:20:26500193111261

Cathy Bennington0I've been collecting Photogs into a Canadian circle when this morning I received a shared/reshared circle of the same genre. So I added that circle to mine and viola - an ever increasing base of talented people to enjoy and share with. Thought it only fair to continue to share. If you have a "Canadian" circle, by all means add these Canucks to it.2011-12-15 16:28:45201000
Tony Manco6,221Canadian photographers circleLadies and Gentlemen,As promised, here I am sharing this great list of Canadian photographers that I've prepared for the past week. Yesterday I asked my fellow Canadian friends to help me prepare this circle with people they thought I didn't have, that are part of this great country we all call home! It was a success, I received a lot of feedback from many new people I didn't know they were Canadian. (http://j.mp/uznYFA)Anyway, share this post with the masses (let's create it ripple worthy), so that we can show the world how beautiful and great the country we live in is!Another thing, how about you +1 this post until the end of time! It's like giving me a nice pat in the back for all the effort I put into this... who doesn't like that? I will also be maintaining this circle and re-sharing it from time to time! Thanks to all that helped, now let's get social, shall we? ;) ~Tony+Billy Wilson +Sandra Parlow +Christophe Friedli +Jim Davis +Gary Munroe +Darryl Van Gaal2011-12-14 02:11:23190364025

Thomas Hawk277,019So the last few days I've been redoing my circles with the goal of resharing my Kick Ass Photographers Circle when it hit 1,000 photographers. Today it hit 1,000 for the first time and so I thought I'd share them. Because a circle can only have 500 people in it, I've broken this circle up into 2 circles by last name, A-K http://goo.gl/7HVMN and L-Z http://goo.gl/EO0O2.The people in these circles are some of the highest quality photographers on G+ today. Many of them are also my personal friends and people that I've known in some cases for years. Some of them are people that I don't know at all, but I just really admire their work. Anytime one attempts to share a list like this, there is inevitably a bit of negative backlash. It would be impossible to put every great photographer on Google+ on this list. Please keep in mind that if we are friends and I missed you on this list, it is not personal. Staying on top of tons of contacts isn't easy and I'm only human. If you were on this list before and are not now, also please do not take offense. I spent a great deal of time scrubbing this list this time around and was much more strict with the criteria for inclusion. I basically was looking for high quality active G+ photographers who post mostly their own work, who post without watermarks or signatures, and who interact in the community. Not everyone in this list meets this criteria, but 98% of you do.Also, if you're not on this list it may be that I simply don't know you. We haven't met in real life. We haven't interacted online. You may be an amazing photographer but our paths just have not had a good chance to cross in a meaningful way yet. Here's to meeting many more of you kick ass photographers in the future. This is the list that I browse most often on G+. It's where I go to find my daily dose of great photography. I'm sharing it because I think that you too might like some of the photography that is being published by these photographers. Thank you to every photographer not just on this list, but on G+ as a whole for making our daily lives a little more interesting and beautiful with the great images that you generously share.Thomas Hawk shared a circle with you.2011-10-26 20:13:44500187146165

Robert Scoble160,405Photography Circle, A-MI'm sharing my entire photography circle tonight for the first time (I had to split it into two parts so you can see it all, because Google only lets me share 500 people in one circle). More than 500 photographers. I've tried to keep it to only active photographers and only folks who post high-quality images. As with all my circles, these are a work in progress. If you are missing from them, please let me know. Also, if you see people who aren't active (in other words, who haven't posted in the past month) or who aren't high enough quality to keep in here, feel free to drop me a line at scobleizer@gmail.com or leave a comment here and I'll reevaluate. Are those colours photoshopped in??  nope!   The reason the ocean has a 'blue' spot is because there happens to be a huge spotlight from the shore, shining to show manta rays feeding on the surface of the water.   The sky got a bit pinker than normal because i was using a cheaper ND grad filter at the time, and gave it a bit of a red/pink tone.   You don't see any manta rays because it's a 30 second exposure, so they are kidna lost in time ;).  WEB: www.avision.ca - FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQran

Is this Photoshop?

Actually, it's a 3 image panoramic using a 10-stop filter, a physical filter in front of the lens - which achieves the cloud time-lapse effect in the sky.  There are some very neat effects you can get out without using post-processing.   Of course, since I shoot using a DSLR - some digital processing is required :)   Come visit here too! http://on.fb.me/RmIdvk

Pano of the Day!   Well, week I guess - I have to admit I don't get out enough to have a new one each day, lol.   Well, summer has finally arrived in VanCity - so finally some clear cloudless skies for sunsets.  While I do prefer the perfect clouds to glow in the dark red brilliance of the setting sun, the clear blue hues still help contrast with the city skyline and all the details within.   Also, if you LIKE this image, please come LIKE my page too in FB: http://on.fb.me/P8plTA

Photo of the day! Point Atkinson, aka, Lighthouse Park - one of my favorite locations to shoot. I just love the contrast of the rugged rocks vs the smooth silky sea in the background. This is one of the more challenging shots as it is long exposure (using 10-stop & 3-stop ND reverse graduated filter) in addition to being a pano. Of course, the best part is just hanging out with this view! Have a good one! If you like this photo, please LIKE my page in FB!  http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Getting to Alstrom point is an adventure in itself.  With only dirt road and 4x4 access, there were very few signs actually telling us how to find the end location.   Fortunatly, we made it within the very last few min before the sun set, and we got the shot.  Visit and like me in Facebook for more: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Don't you love sunrises - when you get both the sky and the foreground lit up with that golden sun?  I got lucky in this one, as every now and then in Vancouver, BC, Canada, we get a fog inversion over the city.  This was taken on a lookout up to one of the local ski resorts (cypress mountain), and got treated to this view.   The large mountain on the horizon is Mt Baker in WA, USA.  Vancouver is under all that fog.

Who likes to go ice skating?   This is a public ice-skating rink downtown Vancouver, BC - and was taken during the 2010 Olympic Winter games which was hosted in our city.   They certainly made it look neat with the blue lighting!  Like free print giveaways?  come like my page and possibly win :) FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

I pulled out a htech filter I have not used in a while, and the result was an interesting colour-cast effect.   So what you see here was not by any photoshop filter effect, it was something from the ND grad + ND filter.   But, I think I still like it, what do you think?

Good morning sunshine!!

I thought that getting this pano was going to be nice and easy - going early and fully prepared. Fully not prepared was I (comes out the Yoda in me). The wind was so strong, at first, I figured any long exposure was impossible. The wind was blowing so hard my camera would shake like crazy. I was also completely unprepared for how cold it would be. The wind just sucked everything out instantly even with jeans and a sweater and light jacket. Finally, I found a small pocket of 'less windy' air if I crouched down in a certain way. Just enough to get a pano off - in between bursts of wind. Now that was fun ;). Come see me in FB too :) http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Do you have a photo - of a scene/shot that you took using a point and shoot that inspired you to get a (D)SRL?   Well, for me, it would have to be this one.   I took this same scene using a point and shoot, and a friend of mine bought it for a print in his office.  Next thing I knew, i got my first DSLR, and of course, took this one.   This is also the image that I sold my very first print.   WEB: www.avision.ca - FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQran

Do you also have a thing for sunsets?   For me, the time where day turns to night pulls at me, and my visual senses go on high alert.   It's almost an emotional awareness of how small we are on this planet, spinning, rotating around the sun, moving around the galaxy.  Oh!  back to reality:  This is one of my first images I ever took using and ND graduated filter, and from that point on, it has always been in my camera bag.   Taken along the seawall in Stanley Park, Vancouver BC, Canada.

I thought that getting this pano was going to be nice and easy - going early and fully prepared. Fully prepared i was not.

As you will see here, my obsession with rocks continues.   For those who do like rocks (heh), this is a must visit if you are in the AZ area.  You will need a 4x4 that can go in sand (about 10 miles of it), but once there, it is a view much different (I guarantee) than your suburban street or home of where you live :).   I'm building my FB likes, so if you will.. http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

White Pocket.   Visiting this place really put into perspective the time it takes for our planet to shape, form and twist rock.   Looking at these lines right here, the entire human race would have only existed for some of them.   Much more to come from this location (or you can see all of them now on my FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ)

Splash!  This is a very typical beach for Vancouver BC Canada.  Ok, we don't get a tonne of sandy beaches, but it is still beautful :)   Like it! http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Another long exposure using a 10- stop filter, this image captures the essence of a west coast bc sunset :).   I'm trying to build my LIKES, so please help me out: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ
