Is this Photoshop?
Actually, it's a 3 image panoramic using a 10-stop filter, a physical filter in front of the lens - which achieves the cloud time-lapse effect in the sky. There are some very neat effects you can get out without using post-processing. Of course, since I shoot using a DSLR - some digital processing is required :) Come visit here too! http://on.fb.me/RmIdvk

Pano of the Day! Well, week I guess - I have to admit I don't get out enough to have a new one each day, lol. Well, summer has finally arrived in VanCity - so finally some clear cloudless skies for sunsets. While I do prefer the perfect clouds to glow in the dark red brilliance of the setting sun, the clear blue hues still help contrast with the city skyline and all the details within. Photo of the day! Point Atkinson, aka, Lighthouse Park - one of my favorite locations to shoot. I just love the contrast of the rugged rocks vs the smooth silky sea in the background. This is one of the more challenging shots as it is long exposure (using 10-stop & 3-stop ND reverse graduated filter) in addition to being a pano. Of course, the best part is just hanging out with this view! Have a good one! If you like this photo, please LIKE my page in FB! http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Are those colours photoshopped in?? nope! The reason the ocean has a 'blue' spot is because there happens to be a huge spotlight from the shore, shining to show manta rays feeding on the surface of the water. The sky got a bit pinker than normal because i was using a cheaper ND grad filter at the time, and gave it a bit of a red/pink tone. You don't see any manta rays because it's a 30 second exposure, so they are kidna lost in time ;). WEB: www.avision.ca - FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQran

Summer Haze. Vancouver finally gets summer weather! We are also getting lots of haze which is apparently from forest fires in Siberia!

Getting to Alstrom point is an adventure in itself. With only dirt road and 4x4 access, there were very few signs actually telling us how to find the end location. Fortunatly, we made it within the very last few min before the sun set, and we got the shot. Visit and like me in Facebook for more: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Don't you love sunrises - when you get both the sky and the foreground lit up with that golden sun? I got lucky in this one, as every now and then in Vancouver, BC, Canada, we get a fog inversion over the city. This was taken on a lookout up to one of the local ski resorts (cypress mountain), and got treated to this view. The large mountain on the horizon is Mt Baker in WA, USA. Vancouver is under all that fog.

Who likes to go ice skating? This is a public ice-skating rink downtown Vancouver, BC - and was taken during the 2010 Olympic Winter games which was hosted in our city. They certainly made it look neat with the blue lighting! Like free print giveaways? come like my page and possibly win :) FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

I pulled out a htech filter I have not used in a while, and the result was an interesting colour-cast effect. So what you see here was not by any photoshop filter effect, it was something from the ND grad + ND filter. But, I think I still like it, what do you think?

What is the view like from your home? Well, for me, i'm lucky - it is this one! I had never seen clouds like these before from my deck, so I ran in and took a quick snapshot, and although it's just a snappy it reminds me of home :) Come see me in FB too :) http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Good morning sunshine!!
I thought that getting this pano was going to be nice and easy - going early and fully prepared. Fully not prepared was I (comes out the Yoda in me). The wind was so strong, at first, I figured any long exposure was impossible. The wind was blowing so hard my camera would shake like crazy. I was also completely unprepared for how cold it would be. The wind just sucked everything out instantly even with jeans and a sweater and light jacket. Finally, I found a small pocket of 'less windy' air if I crouched down in a certain way. Just enough to get a pano off - in between bursts of wind. Now that was fun ;). Come see me in FB too :) http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

How long is your summer? Well, here, in Vancouver BC - it is only really about 2 months. The rest is rain. So for those two months that we do have the sun, it is cherished, and we flock to the rocky beaches and enjoy the views that we have been given. WEB: www.avision.ca - FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQran

Do you have a photo - of a scene/shot that you took using a point and shoot that inspired you to get a (D)SRL? Well, for me, it would have to be this one. I took this same scene using a point and shoot, and a friend of mine bought it for a print in his office. Next thing I knew, i got my first DSLR, and of course, took this one. This is also the image that I sold my very first print. WEB: www.avision.ca - FB: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQran

Where is your favorite place to go for a morning walk? Well, for me, this is the view for one of mine - along the seawall at Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC, Canada. For those of you know this city, you can just see the 9'o'clock gun to the left :)

Do you also have a thing for sunsets? For me, the time where day turns to night pulls at me, and my visual senses go on high alert. It's almost an emotional awareness of how small we are on this planet, spinning, rotating around the sun, moving around the galaxy. Oh! back to reality: This is one of my first images I ever took using and ND graduated filter, and from that point on, it has always been in my camera bag. Taken along the seawall in Stanley Park, Vancouver BC, Canada.

One of the most photographed places in this area - this is a must see if you are there! The wind was so strong, I had to back off from the edge several times, and even hold down my tripod (which was being held down by my camera bag). To see more of my work, like me on FB! http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

Alien Attack!! - well, ok, no.. it's actually art! This light show/art was featured during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic games: and the lights would be controlled by anyone - who went to their website, put in a pattern of their own, which then went into a queue and was then played out at a later time. You could then check to see when your 'show' would be played. Pretty neat!! Of course, if you like some of my pics, please also like my page here: http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ

White Pocket. Visiting this place really put into perspective the time it takes for our planet to shape, form and twist rock. There is just something awesome about bridges. Not sure what it is - perhaps the scale and which we can construct such a large structure.

I know that the picture of the dock with the water in the background is cliche - but perhaps the fact is, it does does have that sense of calm and serenity. Once in a while, in our busy lives, we need this balance. One of my favorite locations, this is taken in Osoyoos, BC, Canada during on of our summer family get-away. With about a 15 min break from the heavy downpour of this storm, I saw the break in the clouds coming, ran out to the dock, took the pano, ran back just in time. That was fun!

As you will see here, my obsession with rocks continues. For those who do like rocks (heh), this is a must visit if you are in the AZ area. You will need a 4x4 that can go in sand (about 10 miles of it), but once there, it is a view much different (I guarantee) than your suburban street or home of where you live :). I'm building my FB likes, so if you will.. http://on.fb.me/N0LHaQ
