Yargh! OK, I mentioned earlier today about a video I recorded with Glass. I've waited all day for this 60min video to push to instant upload on g+. It appears the upload failed and all I have on g+ is a broken file that doesn't play back at all. I just want the video off, dammit! Amy thoughts on how I can get it off? They've made it incredibly tough to get at the media you record using glass. I'm actually very surprised at how tough it is!

Installed the new Hangout app (that "replaces Talk")

But I still have the Talk app installed. And when I launch Hangout, it takes me to Talk. And everything looks like Talk.

Did I miss something? I can't un-install Talk.

Confused.

I have to train myself with the new G+ for the web that new posts won't automatically appear. You have to click the "2 New" (or however many new you have) button on the left. That will take some getting used to.

Digidesign Eleven Rack... Opinions?

Hmmmmm. Considering selling my Line6 Pod HD so I can grab the Digi Eleven Rack with Pro Tools 10 (includes free upgrade to PT 11 included when its released).

Anyone have any opinions on that? Audio nerds, talkin to you.

I spend all of my time in the box these days and that HD500 is super powerful but I never use it cause I HATE fiddling with the interface... Even the software front end for it is lame. I've simply gotten much better results out of software guitar emulation like Amplitube as opposed to the HD500. Most of my new album is Amplitube (electric guitars and bass, that is), which tells me the HD500 is simply collecting dust. Not good for a unit worth $500.

SO, Eleven Rack seems like the best of all worlds. Gives me hardware that will be compatible with the next version of PT. Gives me more simultaneous inputs... more »

Things I learned about the certain state of future technology trends over the last few weeks, thanks to my three year old daughter.

1. Touchscreen everything. All the screens. If it ain't a touch screen, then its confusing and archaic. She walks up to the Netflix app running on our living room TV and guides herself around it (with me at the remote, of course) by swiping her finger across, up, down and sideways on the rows of movie and TV show thumbnails. If the show she wants to watch has a play icon on top of it, she taps that.

2. Along with #1, the mouse is going the way of the dodo. Sure, she's three and hasn't had much experience with a mouse... but why on earth would you make your UI intuitive for a mouse when, well, there's touch screens everywhere?? Unnecessary. A mouse requires training. A Touch screen requires... a touch. Bye bye mouse, you clunky relic... more »

Holy cow. I'm back to work next Monday. Those two weeks flew by and I gotta say, our baby girl Savannah is on an awesome sleep/feed schedule (very different from our first), so I should be TOTALLY with it and rested (enough) when I return next Monday.

Stacey did the entire thing without any medication, once again. And she ROCKED it. Seriously. I'm amazed at her strength and endurance throughout the entire process. I've said it many times, but it bears repeating. Stacey is one tough cookie.

And of course, Savannah is a healthy little girl. She spent the first two hours of her life outside the womb nestled up on Stacey's chest and took RIGHT to breast feeding. Like a champ.

We are truly ecstatic. Don't mind us. We're just sitting up here on cloud 9.

Just awoke from a dream and the dream had a song and the song is now recorded into Evernote. I'm telling you, the dream told me everything I needed to know about this new track. Can't wait to record it. Extra special cause it happened here and now.

Slow goings with labor. It has "started" but the contractions are so far apart that we've pretty much been sleeping through the night at this point. I guess this means our daughter will likely be born during the day today.

Anyone know of an app that will detect when a device is moving (say, I dunno, it's on a washing machine and jostling back and forth) and once it's done moving for a set amount of time, it performs an action (like, say, sends a text message, or something along those lines.)

New post: Adding a drum track to a free-style guitar track

I recorded what I thought would be a scratch track and scratch vocals for Heavy Bones, but later found myself attached to them. Having not recorded them to any sort of a time base put me in a difficult place. I wanted to add layers of drums and other instrumentation, but without a time grid to work with, that seemed like a difficult endeavor. Thankfully, it wasn't impossible. This is how I did it.

How on earth do you make a programmed MIDI drum track sound interesting? Organic? Real? I feel like this is only the beginning in how I attempt to do that, and it isn't easy.
