"When you see me take a stand against photographers who undermine the profession by working for slave wages, or when I call out a guy who thinks he’s a pro because he bought a Nikon D4, or when I tell the CEO of Yahoo she’s a butt-head for saying there are no more professional photographers, you now know why I am doing these things. It’s because if I don’t stand up for my profession I can’t expect anyone else to." via +Scott Bourne

Chrome Apps Team has started to work on a new HTML tag named <adview> to embed Ads inside Chrome Apps in a separate process which will enforce some separation between ad networks and app code for security and privacy.

If you wanna test it, you can run last chromium build with these two switches --enable-adview and enable-adview-src-attribute, load an unpacked chrome app with "adview" permissions and play around with the <adview> tag.

The real spy camera I was wearing this week

This week I was wearing a Memoto camera. You see it here. What does it do? It captures an image every 30 seconds. No one has any clue this is a camera except for geeks who have seen it.

If I were a privacy freak I'd be far more worried about these small cameras.

By the way, this one captures a TON of context. Has a compass, accelerometer, and other stuff inside.

It's funny that everyone is keying in on Google Glass, but I can't take more than one image at a time with Glass. This, however, can make images every 30 seconds and I can even take extra images simply by tapping it.

I've bought one of these, too. Arriving this summer. Learn more here: http://memoto.com

76GB of photos, the resulting size of my first trip with the Nikon D800 and Sony RX100, are imported to the computer. Next: processing and sorting all those photos, but not today...

Although not new to me, people photography in Morocco is tempting and difficult at the same time, something that can be extremely frustrating... But despite not taking all the photos I would like I believe I brought really interesting stuff! And in the way I ended up practicing things like zone focusing:-)

Great interview by +Adrianne Jeffries of Flickr product chief +Markus Spiering on the rennaissance that is currently taking place at Flickr.  As much as I love photo sharing on G+.  Flickr still has G+ beat in some important areas:  high res originals, album management, and my favorite build of any photo sharing experience, +Arthur Chang Prime, which is currently in alpha testing using the Flickr API.  Somebody needs to give Art a bunch of VC money to build out the best photo sharing experience yet.

Unlike a subject like history, the accumulation of knowledge doesn't help you become a better photographer. Repetition does. Do yourself a favor, skip the photo major, take a business and marketing class, and take as many photos as you can.

Vindimar is Portuguese for harvesting the wine grapes. At many of Portugal’s vineyards by the end of Summer legions of seasonal workers to harvest the grapes of endless vines. But not all vineyards in the country such an industrial scale nor it’s wine is destined to be sold throughout the world. Many are small enough that a family gathering would get the job done.

The operating system is becoming less and less relevant, desktop computing is becoming less and less relevant while brands and services are becoming more and more relevant. What matters now isn't iOS, Android or Windows, but Google, Apple or Microsoft, and that's why Microsoft has a grim future.
