Tombstone Court House

A place where gun slingers were buried, and those living were eventually hanged.  Today, the 12,000 square foot courthouse is a museum filled with the glitter and guns of those who tamed the territory.

Exhibits portray the authentic history of Tombstone as a frontier silver mining boom town.  Displays include a tax license for operating a brothel and an invitation to a hanging. Way back in Summer of 2000, I had driven past Sedona, on way to Grand Canyon. I was awed by Sedona's red rocks but unfortunately in a hurry to reach Grand canyon I didn't stop there. Current tour of Artistic Google has given me a golden opportunity to explore at leisure the remarkable rocky landscape of Sedona.

"Sky Bloom" (officially "Her Secret Is Patience") is a sculpture by Janet Echelman at Civic Space Park, Arizona State University, Phoenix, Arizona. As per the artist the sculpture's shape reflects enormous ever changing cumulus clouds of Arizona. (wikipedia - http://goo.gl/zwPo2)

I was so enamoured by Castle Valley that I visited it again. Here is a Panoramic view from Utah Hwy 128 near Moab.

On the left is the Parriott Mesa, in the distance centre are the Priest and the Nuns rocks and the Castleton Tower and on the right is an unknown rock. I tried my best to identify it but failed. May be some one can help me in identifying it.

The 120 m (400 ft.) tall tower standing on a volcanic cone of 300 m (1000 ft.) is one of the most photographed object in Utah. The left rock formation is commonly known as The Rectory and/or The Priest and Nuns Rock.

Joseph Smith Memorial Building

A view of the lobby of Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. The building built in 1901 was originally the Utah Hotel. The hotel which was mainly funded by Latter-day Saints (LDS) Church, ceased operation in 1987 and the building was renovated and is now a social center with restaurants, banquet rooms etc. Several floors  of the building also house the administrative offices for LDS Church. On January 3, 1978, it was included in the National Register of Historic Places as the Hotel Utah.

The Ute Theatre in Rifle, Colorado dates to at least 1940. Some time after it opened, the facade and Art Deco interior were changed and not for the better. (See 2008 photo: http://goo.gl/RMc1K)

In 2010, the New Ute Theatre Society closed the theatre for extensive remodeling, including the restoration of its original fade. It reopened in 2012 as a multi-purpose theater.

Salt Lake City and County Building

The "City-County Building" houses the administrative offices of Salt Lake City, Utah. The historic landmark building built between between 1891 and 1894 had preciously also housed offices of Salt Lake County government, hence the name.

The building when constructed was the symbol of non-Mormon citizens' open defiance of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was designed to be a rival the Salt Lake Temple. Building's central clock tower is topped with a statue of Columbia and it is believed that the clock tower and statues were designed to mimic the temple's spires and statue.

A motel with history along historic Route 66.  (Rob)

The first 'auto court' motel on Route 66 was the Aztec Motel built in 1932 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It became quite famous but was razed in 2011. Obviously this one in Arizona isn't it (but gets good reviews.)

Gold's Gym

The La Placita building complex is a magnificently colourful feature of central Tucson. Unfortunately, only a few views are available from the streets. This view was accessed by starting inside Gold's Gym (business photo/orange dot) and finding my way outside the building. (Does that count as exercise?)

Our good friend +Chris Fithall found an unusual glitch in the system while exploring El Camino De Abajo Road, New Mexico for our four corners trip and tarted it up as only he can

The Woman’s Tonic
Unfortunately the street view image isn't clear enough to see this, it says "The Woman’s Tonic: Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription".  Apparently there are several of these barn adverts in different locations, and in addition to being a quack, Dr Pierce was also a member of congress!
