We, those of us who know better, all laughed and rolled our eyes at the people parroting things we knew to be false. Silly tech bloggers who don't even use the service making baseless statements about it. If they would just use it, they would know better.

The same exact thing is happening with Tumblr.

"Tumblr is just porn and cat gifs," or "Tumblr is just thinspo blogs."

We, those of use who know better, laugh and roll our eyes at the people parroting things we know to be false. Silly tech snobs who don't even use the service making baseless statements about it. If they would just use it, they would know better.

Today I intended to wake up at 6am, work out, have a healthy smoothie, be dressed and on the shuttle to work at 8, where I was to grab some egg whites and bacon and have A Productive Day At The Office.

In efforts to do this, I turned off my TV at 11:30pm last night, fully intending to go to sleep.

I didn't fall asleep for about an hour.

When I did fall asleep, I had some of the worst sleep of my life. I had a nightmares about insane college football coaches wanting to kill me (what is it with the football coaches lately), the person saving me from the insane coaches actually intending to rape me. My escape from the rapist being hampered by the fact that none of the bystander vehicles had enough room for me (all Smart cars with two passengers).

I woke up at 4am from that nightmare and couldn't get back to sleep for another hour. I slept right through my 6am... more »

Last night I dreamed I was at the beach and made friends with a guy who looked like Seth Green and turned out to be one of the Washington Redskins coaching staff.

My super Redskins fan mom was stoked (I like how my dreams bring her back to life) and kept pressuring me to ask him on a date. He thought it was funny and eventually asked me on a date.

Also my hair was cotton candy blue and pink in the back, which was awesome.

Thankfully I have a Google Apps domain where I can control what features get enabled and I have to manually turn on Hangouts. The "Never save chat history" option is still there in Gmail for my Apps domain as well. Now I have to figure out a plan to move all communications, save Google+, over to my primary account on that domain.

Dear Google,

The old gchat emoticons were the best emoticons ever, and the only ones I ever liked.  You know, the ones that basically just rotated the raw characters and touched them up slightly, but mostly left them looking like text.

The new hangouts emoticons are in the running for the worst I've ever encountered.  I am literally embarrassed when I see them in text I wrote.  I am tempted to modify my IM client to automatically inject invisible unicode characters into any emoticons I write to prevent them from being replaced with these ridiculous images.

Also, you removed presence?  Really?

I hear there were a lot of internal complaints about this that you ignored, so presumably you'll ignore me too, but seriously, wat?

So I am one of the many people in the world who learn by doing. Apparently this isn't common in the Valley as everyone here is all "buy and read this book and you will magically know how to do this thing."
