How to understand the rise of Google.
Apple and Google both make products and services. Products include hardware and software, and services include things like, say, iTunes or Gmail. But that’s where the similarity ends.
Apple is a product company. Their services exist to support their products.
Google is a services company. Their products exist to support their services.
The shifting fortunes of these two companies is less about which company is succeeding and failing and more about which model is succeeding or failing.
Right now, the product model is on the ropes, and the services model is on the rise.

From the Netherlands, at a elementary/chapel called "de Kapel in 't Zand" (chapel in the sand), Roermond, Limburg.
The cemetery was designed and build in 1785, shortly after the decree prohibiting the burial inside churches or inside the city walls. The cemetery has a lot of different walled partitions for different religious backgrounds.
It is actually more a sign of the religious diversity then a sign of religious hate.
The two people buried there were a catholic woman of nobility, and her common husband; a protestant colonel.
The marriage was pretty scandalous at the time, but less due to their different religious background, and more because he was not of noble birth. They were married for just over 40 years.

My two-week review of Google Glass: it all depends on the price
This week I gave five speeches while wearing it.
I passed through airports four times (two more in a couple of hours).
I let hundreds of people try my Google Glass.
I have barely taken it off since getting it other than to sleep.
Here's my review after having Google Glass for two weeks:
1. I will never live a day of my life from now on without it (or a competitor). It's that significant.
2. The success of this totally depends on price. Each audience I asked at the end of my presentations "who would buy this?" As the price got down to $200 literally every hand went up. At $500 a few hands went up. This was consistent, whether talking with students, or more mainstream, older audiences.

First week as a news director at a certain place, everyone is nervous for their jobs.
So I walked into my first staff editorial meeting, looked around the table and quietly announced:
"I see the assassins failed."
The ones who didn't grin are the ones I kept my eyes on.

Whilst getting pouty the other day...
I looked out to see this man, who regularly takes his walks in the neighborhood. He does so with misshapen legs and a gait that is painful to watch, much less carry out. I'd be struggling to get out of bed. He exercises and volunteers at community activities.
Be thankful, and learn to admire those who not only survive, but persevere.

If you’ve done Hangouts, you’ve almost certainly experienced it. It’s hard to chat over that typing. Maybe you’ve accidentally been that typist, and didn’t realize it until someone muted you! That’s why we’ve added automatic muting when you type. Specifically:
- If someone keeps typing in a Hangout, their mic will be muted until they stop
- They'll see an in-Hangout notification, so they know they're not interrupting the conversation
- We’ll do this for larger Hangouts (4+ people).

Blue M&M's...
Are The Evil!
OK soon I'll be able to chew rocks and this should be one of the last dental lights I should ever have to look into, well kinda... and I brought it on myself I guess... but I still blame blue M&M's and here's why:
Among my snacks last night, I decided to put a bag of the chocolate treats on my ice cream as a topping. Since I always insist "No blue M&M's" ala a rock star, I was not pleased to see a blue tint on my Homemade BlueBell Vanilla. Yes! The bag contained The Evil! And as I chomped, CRACK, said the temp bridge I have, as the little blue buggers had frozen with the ice cream! So that is IT! Never again shall The Evil be anywhere near my pie-hole.
