Grosse Horloge, The Great Clock Gate - La Rochelle, France
This Gothic tower used to be the entrance to the town in the 13th century. The clock was installed in the 14th century when the gate underwent major construction work. It also has a belfry and 2 towers that house maritime trophies. Nowadays, this historic monument remains one of the main crossing points between the harbour and the old town.

Sunset View of Chora's Iconic Windmills - Mykonos, Greece.
The most famous landmarks of Mykonos are its windmills. A total of 16 windmills were originally built in the 16th century for crushing agricultural yields. 5 of them are seen here on the famous hilltop of Chora, the capital of Mykonos. Although none of them are still operational, they remain great symbols and a reminder of Mykonos' rich past.

Cruise Ship Arriving at Dawn in Chora Port - Mykonos, Greece.
Mykonos is a popular port of call for many cruises, and while I was there, I have witnessed them arriving at port just before the sun rose. Later in the day, throngs of these tourists would crowd in the popular landmarks and restaurants at Little Venice, but are gone just before nightfall.

Gloomy Dusk at Pont de Pierre - Bordeaux, France.
There are 4 road bridges that cross the Garonne river in Bordeaux, the Pont de Pierre being the very first one built. This stone bridge was commissioned by Napoleon I in 1819 and was completed in 1822. It has 17 arches equivalent to the number of letters in Napoleon Bonaparte’s name, and on the sides, pile of bricks are capped by a white medallion as a symbol to honor the emperor.

Panagia Paraportiani - Mykonos, Greece.
This is perhaps the most famous and most photographed church of Mykonos and is a real architectural marvel. It consists of four tiny whitewashed churches (Agios Sozontas, Agioi Anargyroi, Agia Anastasia, Agios Efstathios) forming, with the main church a wonderful asymmetrical glimmering white church. The main church is dating from the 15th century and its name, Paraportiani, comes from the word 'porta' which means door, for it used to be standing near the entrance of a medieval castle which has been destroyed.

Golden Rocks on the Beach - Mykonos, Greece.
Mykonos is a popular tourist destination in the Greek islands of the Cyclades group, situated in the middle of the Aegean Sea. The word Aegean comes from the legendary king Aegean of Athens, who, believing that his son Theseus had been devoured by the Minotaur in his labyrinth, was thrown to the sea from the Cape Sunion. About 95% of the islands along the Aegean sea belong to Greece.

The Samuel Beckett Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge in Dublin, was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The famous Triple bridge connects lively Preseren Square to Castle hill. Its history goes all the way back to 1280, where it started as a single wooden bridge. It was replaced a few times over the centuries until a group of three bridges were built with massive stone balustrades, lamps and two stairways - the bridge that stands at present day.

The Island Church of the Assumption - Lake Bled, Slovenia.
In the middle of the glacial Lake Bled rises Slovenia's only real island. The island is a tree-covered limestone moraine which is a remnant of the Ice Age. The church on the island is the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption, its present form from the 17th century althought the first one built here is from all the way back to the 12th century. Inside is a main altar with rich gold-plated carving, dating back from 1747.

The medieval church of St. Michael of Cornhill has been in existence since 1133. Just recently refurbished, the beautiful Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College, is often dubbed as the finest dining hall in Europe. Lazy Day at the Royal Pavilion - Brighton, England.
It looks out of place in a British seaside resort but this beautiful, majestic building not only gives an exotic twist to Brighton, but also adds a bit of class to a city once known for its seediness. The Brighton Pavilion was built between the late 1800’s to early 1900’s as a holiday palace for the Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811. The architectural style is Indo-Saracenic, a design that was popular in India for during the 19th century. Although much of the Brighton crowd flock to the seafront promenade, many of them don't dare miss the romantic ambiance of this pavilion. Over 400,000 people visit the Royal Pavilion annually.

The Cutty Sark, Britain's Finest Clipper - London, UK.
This was my first time in this part of London and was glad I paid a visit because of its photographic appeal. It was of course hard to miss this amazing glass structure that houses the 200-year old Cutty Sark, fully restored to its former glory - a project that cost only a whopping £50m, and now ready again to be appreciated. The ship hangs suspended midway into its glass casing.

Aboard the Emirates Air Line Cable Car - London, UK.
It was the perfect day to ride the sky in London's newest transport. From The O2 Arena in London's North Greenwich, this cool ride took me to the landing of the Emirates Royal Docks in Royal Victoria. Wheee!

Twilight Reflections at the Emirates Royal Docks - London, UK.
London's new transport system comes in the form of a cable car, linking North and South London across the River Thames. Recently opened on June 2012 just in time for the Olympics, the project was estimated to cost £60 million to build. There are 36 gondolas on the fleet, and can carry 2,500 passengers per hour in each direction. Each week, the system has an average ridership of more than 30,000.
