I saw the link to this series a couple of times these days, but I didn't have the time to open it. Children from around the world and their most prized possessions. Pretty amazing.

Each picture represents a before and after ‘the disappearance’ shot.

During the military dictatorship in Argentina from 1976 to 1983 nearly 30,000 people disappeared without trace. The photographer Gustavo Germano is one of the victims of state terror. He lost his oldest brother. With his photo series, he shows in an impressive way what happens to a family from whose midst a man is suddenly broken. Germano has rephotographed family photos from the seventies with the people who survived the military dictatorship. Sometimes missing a family member, sometimes several. Only once the child is still alive, another time the wife is left behind alone, or the sister.

Er staat een man voor mijn deur. Al weken. 
Mijn moeder was en is iemand die koffie zet voor iedereen. Loodgieters, schilders, bouwvakkers. Ze heeft het talent om binnen een kwartier een dusdanige band met mensen op te bouwen dat ze al hun relatieproblemen met haar  bespreken. Als kind vond ik dat gênant. Maar tegenwoordig zet ik, net zoals mijn moeder, koffie en praat niet over relaties maar over melk, suiker en het weer. 
Het werk van deze man is het verkeer regelen. Dat is nodig omdat onze straat is opengebroken vanwege een project dat al maanden duurt en waaraan wij, aan onze kant van de straat, helemaal niks hebben. Wat we wel hebben is een heleboel lawaai. En die man.

(If you're in the new app and you think you saw this post before, you haven't. I'm just using the picture to make a statement about the new app)

Today I posted this picture with the text: Lovely weather. It was supposed to be a visual statement.

For the people on the new app: The picture is of a sunny park. But in the foreground there is garbage.

The lovely weather thing was meant to be a somewhat cynical comment. The weather is lovely but people should clean up after themselves. Because the picture told that story, I didn't have to add that information. (even though looking back at it I think the garbage could have been pictured a little more close up, but that's a different story) My problem is, that because the new app cut off half of the picture (everything under the fountain) the statement didn't work. Valve and wearable computing - working on augmented reality glasses

Google has their Project Glass but Valve, creator of one of the most popular online gaming platforms ( Steam ) and videogames as Half Life, Portal and Counter Strike, is also working on "wearable computing".

If it will lead to anything marketable is unknown, but the augmented reality hardware is predicted to become real (with or without Valve) within the next 3 to 5 years, according to Michael Abrash.

Formerly working with John Carmack on Doom and on the Natural Language Project with Microsoft, Abrash describes the free and open culture within Valve. No hierarchy, no management. Valve is different.

I was talking to +Ivy Leung today about my love for fastfood. And how I eat it, but refuse to let my kids eat it. And then I mentioned to her 'I like to eat food out of the wall' Ivy off course did not understand what I was saying. Who eats food out of the wall? How does this work??

Well. The Dutch do. If you don't believe me, look at the picture. We actually do eat food from the wall. And the food, apart from regular stuff, like hamburgers, is pretty exciting too.
