This wonderful film that everyone should see at least once is being shown on TCM next Saturday evening at 8pm. The best way to battle injustice is to shine a light on it. This film does just that in a fictional story that resonates today as well as it did in the 60's.

Pres. Obama uses his Hollywood Shills to convince us the deal with IRAN is a good one. They say that the only alternative to this deal is War with Iran. The sanctions were so onerous and injurious to Iran that they finally came to the table. How about putting more sanctions on them to leverage a better deal where we can inspect at any time instead of giving them 24 days notice before inspecting. How about not giving them back the $150 Billion dollars that is frozen until they can be confirmed to be living up to the deal. How about insisting on inspecting all of their military sites. In this deal they can reject inspectors from Military sites and appeal the request to inspect other sites giving them even more time to clean up evidence of non-compliance. The IAEA must also let the Iranians take their own samples and give them over for testing instead of The IAEA inspectors taking their own samples. I feel so... more »

NASA has found the first Earth size planet orbiting in the so called Goldilocks zone of it's solar system. This means that the temperature should be warm enough for liquid water to be present on the surface. It is almost 500 light years away orbiting an M class star. It was given the designation of Keplar 186. So if were to assume that life exists on Keplar 186f and sent them a transmission at the speed of light we could expect an answer in about 1000 years.

One of my favorite films, Jeremiah Johnson, is on TCM tonight at 8pm. Robert Redford gave one of his better performances in this film about a Veteran of the Mexican American War goes up into the Rockies to live to get away from civilization. Beautifully shot with great scenic backdrops and a good character study. Worth a watch.

I can personally vouch for the dread feeling of not getting to the scene in time. You blame yourself for something you have no control over. The action of others. Over 30 years in my career I arrived on time more often than not, but the times you don't weigh on you for the rest of your life. Believe it or not, contrary to the publicity Law Enforcement has received lately, we really do care about people and it hurts us psychically when bad things happen to people despite our efforts.
To make a comment on the present War on Police in the press and by some of the public, Bad outcomes from Police/Citizen interaction can be avoided in almost every case. Even if you think you have done nothing wrong and should not be arrested. PLEASE COMPLY, Complain and protest later, you will certainly survive the situation if you follow this advise. I can tell you, from being a Law Enforcement Officer at every level, from Patrolman to Swat team member to Detective to Lieutenant in Administration. No Officer wants to shoot anyone. It is the absolute last thing that they want to do. Even if a shooting is justified, most Officers never recover from the trauma of severely injuring someone or taking a life.___

Spoiler Alert!     What an episode. Such swings of emotion. They really set us up for the terrible sacrifice of Shireen by having a touching, loving scene with Sir Davos giving her a gift before leaving for the wall.  What an end for this episode. Dany escaping certain death by triumphantly taking to the sky riding atop Drogon like Lessa from Dragon riders of Pern. I can't believe there is only one episode left. It seems like this season just started.

Why can't they leave anything alone. Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have a new idea. This movie was great because of the perfect mix of characters. The wisecracking over the top bravado of Kurt Russel against the otherworldly depiction of the Chinese legendary characters with a little hotness of a young Kim Catrall thrown in. What are the chances that they can get that recipe correct again in a remake

It pays to do research and careful scrutiny before making donations. We sometimes rush to help others and donate to the Red Cross after tragedies around the world. Perhaps it would be better to donate to other sources. The Red Cross has repeatedly shown that they waste much of the donated funds.

I can't wait till one of these AMC prime theaters opens near me. The experience sounds tremendous. Although given the face that they charge $19.00 for Imax and $18 for ETX showings here in Northern NJ the AMC Prime experience will no doubt be north of $20 a seat. It sounds by this review to be worth it though.
