This wonderful film that everyone should see at least once is being shown on TCM next Saturday evening at 8pm. The best way to battle injustice is to shine a light on it. This film does just that in a fictional story that resonates today as well as it did in the 60's.

Every Mayor of every large City should watch this talk and try to understand how to make a difference. After watching this very brave and unselfish clergyman I feel even more cynical towards the likes of Al Sharpton. If Reverend Al used his huge bully pulpit to to echo this fine man he may just make a real difference instead of self promoting at the expense of the citizens he claims to want to help.

One of my favorite films, Jeremiah Johnson, is on TCM tonight at 8pm. Robert Redford gave one of his better performances in this film about a Veteran of the Mexican American War goes up into the Rockies to live to get away from civilization. Beautifully shot with great scenic backdrops and a good character study. Worth a watch.

Over 30 years in my career I arrived on time more often than not, but the times you don't weigh on you for the rest of your life. Even if you think you have done nothing wrong and should not be arrested. PLEASE COMPLY, Complain and protest later, you will certainly survive the situation if you follow this advise. I can tell you, from being a Law Enforcement Officer at every level, from Patrolman to Swat team member to Detective to Lieutenant in Administration. No Officer wants to shoot anyone. It is the absolute last thing that they want to do. Even if a shooting is justified, most Officers never recover from the trauma of severely injuring someone or taking a life.___

Spoiler Alert!     What an episode. Such swings of emotion. They really set us up for the terrible sacrifice of Shireen by having a touching, loving scene with Sir Davos giving her a gift before leaving for the wall.  What an end for this episode. Dany escaping certain death by triumphantly taking to the sky riding atop Drogon like Lessa from Dragon riders of Pern. I can't believe there is only one episode left. It seems like this season just started.

Why can't they leave anything alone. Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have a new idea. This movie was great because of the perfect mix of characters. The wisecracking over the top bravado of Kurt Russel against the otherworldly depiction of the Chinese legendary characters with a little hotness of a young Kim Catrall thrown in. What are the chances that they can get that recipe correct again in a remake

It pays to do research and careful scrutiny before making donations. We sometimes rush to help others and donate to the Red Cross after tragedies around the world. Perhaps it would be better to donate to other sources. The Red Cross has repeatedly shown that they waste much of the donated funds.

I can't wait till one of these AMC prime theaters opens near me. The experience sounds tremendous. Although given the face that they charge $19.00 for Imax and $18 for ETX showings here in Northern NJ the AMC Prime experience will no doubt be north of $20 a seat. It sounds by this review to be worth it though.

Tomorrowland is the first movie released in the theater in Dolby Vision. A new certification such as THX or IMAX. Dolbyvision combines Dolby's Atmos sound system with a new standard for projection known as HDR, or High Dynamic range.  I have seen several movies at an Atmos theater where there are two extra rows of speakers that run the length of the ceiling from front to back and the effect is highly immersive. The new HDR standard is a new projection method that promises to show a much larger range of contrast. Whiter whites and blacker blacks and many more gradations in between. I have not seen this yet because their are only a handful of theaters so far that are set up with the required new projection equipment. Based on this article and a few other reviews this could be the next big thing to draw people out of their living room and back to the theater.

I have been waiting for this since I purchased my Ultra HD TV in November. I am one of those consumers that loves to have a physical copy of my favorite films and TV shows. Streaming is OK when my Internet connection is up to par but at night when everyone is home and using the internet the connection inevitably slows down. I also hope Netflix Offers a plan to include 4K Blu-ray disks. Not all films are worth purchasing so this would be a good alternative to streaming for films I am not interested in purchasing. My only fear is that HDCP 2.2 will get in the way of viewing. My brand new 4K Tv has only one HDCP compliant HDMI port and my very expensive AV receiver has none. So until everyone upgrades their entire home theater setup it will be a struggle to enjoy the ultimate experience these new discs will offer.
