Planted a Calla lily in the yard, and a couple flowers broke off, couldn't let them go to waste, so I put them in water and did some sketching in ink and charcoal.....

Had a great weekend in Durand Michigan, (classic mid-west small town known for it's railroad history). This year they combined the annual railroad days celebration with a  first time Art Walk.  I am one tired artist, only got away from my location to grab a few quick photos around main street. Each store had painters, writers, musicians, and photographers, and perfect weather!

Have a vase of red tulips sitting on my table that called me to paint them. Decided to work in 3s, three paintings of the same subject, find it interesting to see how my view of the subject will change as I go along.  Posting the first one, will post the others as I go along.

Was not going to share this one, but after working on it a good part of the day decided to.  I am not pleased with this this plein air painting, didn't venture far, it is in my yard.  A Lilac in full bloom sits like an island in an ocean of dandelions.  Think what bothers me about this is it is not realistic or impressionistic enough for me.  May have to try again with a different approach....

Today's painting is still too wet to photo, so I thought I would share one from my Daily Paint works post.  It is called a Moment In Time, objects left on a table thought of at the moment then soon pass by the eye to newer attractions. Thought the clock played an interesting reminder of how fast time passes, and our interests change.

I have no idea what kind of flower this, it is red, made of silk, was on sale and I liked it. So I had to add it to my silk flower collect ( did I mention it was on sale).  It will be popping up in my still-life paintings what ever it is.

Went to a painting party yesterday, food, wine, and painting great way to spend the evening.  We all worked on a simple project of background texture and color.  Did the owl painting there, and had to try another one with the same method today.....fun!  Hard to photo these because they have interference colors in the mix but you can get the idea....
