Meilani MacDonald9,465Social Media and Marketing CircleA couple of days ago I wrote this great long post about having goals and reaching for them here on Google+. I mentioned several people in that post who I had watched and learned from.  Folks who make the best posts, from which I learned so much about marketing, social media networking, and business in general. I want to share these gems with you. This is my social media and marketing circle. Many of the people in this circle are professional social media or Internet marketers. Some use a specific medium for their marketing, such as video, or press releases, for example. Some of them are just folks that are doing such a great job of marketing themselves that I added them to the circle as people to watch and learn from. There are just a few included who are not active here on G+, but they are more active on FB where I follow their posts, and since I want to encourage them to come to the light side and share their great stuff with us here, I still included them. Whether you want to learn the principals of social media and Internet marketing yourself, or you're thinking about hiring someone to do your social media and/or Internet marketing tasks, this is a good place to start. #socialmedia   #marketing   #sharedcircles   #business  2013-02-06 23:14:39209637CC G+
Meilani MacDonald9,454Small business networking circle.  This circle is made up of people who have expressed interest in the TGIF Business Networking Hangout.  Some of them have been guests on TGIF, many have been HOA participants in the peanut gallery, and some have interacted via comments even though they never came in.  They have all expressed interest in small business networking, and many provide valuable services or advice to small business owners. Some are way more active here on G+ than others, but hopefully they will be encouraged to join us here on the plus more often.Basically, it's just a nice circle to add and share with your business networking connections.  If you are not in this circle, but you are a small business owner or entrepreneur who adds this circle, please leave a comment below and introduce yourself and your biz - we are here to do some business networking after all :) #smallbusiness   #networking   #sharedcircles   #TGIF   #MeilaniM   #entrepreneurs   #business  2013-01-30 21:40:198522421CC G+

Noah Lampert901My good friend +Saleem Fayyad is asking for tips on how to get more involved with Google+.Here's what I came up with off the top of my head:1) Search for Shared Circles by topic2) Use the G+ Search Bar as you would regular Google Search3) Have people share circles with you which is what I'm doing here. Here's a shared circle that the incomparable +martin shervington put together. It's a circle of high engagers (people of all different types, those are the best kind you know) and to be quite honest it's probably the best shared circle I've added to date. For those that already follow +martin shervington you know what I'm talking about.Any other tips in terms of getting other people into G+ are greatly appreciated. Thanks!2012-11-06 21:57:2243721722CC G+

Meilani MacDonald2,935Small Business circle 2 of 2Hello small business peeps! I'm a small biz person and naturally I want to connect with other small biz owners. I really feel we all have so much to share with each other and to learn from one another as we navigate this world called Google+ that provides us with so many great tools and resources to support our small biz efforts. I also think it's a good thing to support each other, and lift each other up as we work towards our goals. So I've been collecting small biz people and shared small biz & entrepreneurs circles, because those are the people I most want in my own circles, to follow, to connect with, and to support. I have 700+ small bizzes in my circle, so I've split it into two circles to share with you. This is #2 of the 2. Let's hear it for small business!Btw, speaking of supporting small bizzes, I host a TGIF Biz Networking Hangout every Friday at 4pm pst, now a Hangout on Air. It is a chance to give yourself and your biz a little promo, and I feature special guests who are small biz owners and who have all kinds of good advice and info to share with other small biz owners. Please check my profile for more info or to watch last Friday's episode, where we talked about QR codes and great ideas for how to use them, and also talked about the value of keeping content fresh on your blogs and web sites, and when and why to blog, or not to blog. #smallbusiness #entrepreneur #sharedcircles +CircleCount +Shared Circles Shared a Circle with You +Shared a Circle with you2012-05-28 18:24:39330211318CC G+

Rehan Ahmad12,258Best Engagers on Google✚ V.2.0having less than 4k followers; chosen by communityI had no idea to discover such wonderful folks in such huge numbers who are worth getting attention and exposure to the community on G+. Here is link to the original post on which people proposed their best Engagers: https://plus.google.com/u/0/101130656339668533532/posts/SSTgbEYBxuyWe want to spread the message of equality and friendship, we want to make this space wonderful for everyone. Best Thing about this circle is that it does not contain any of the influencers, but each influencer taken deep interest in making it happen. So have fun with circling all new amazing Plussers and rock your stream. My Apologies: If I have no included the people you had proposed in this circle because their followers were more than 4k limit, they have not shared anything public yet or they will be shared in next go..!!Wish You Luck in Having Wonderful Stay here on G+ Everyone ツ2012-05-15 17:58:01194473946CC G+

The +World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer has released data confirming what many have suspected for quite some time: that an increasingly westernized diet world-wide leads to higher risks of cancer.

The issue is the processed nature of the foods westerners consume on a frighteningly regular basis, involving many chemical additives and preservatives whose long term effects are unclear... or are they?

See the original press release here: http://goo.gl/uR8tu - and another source (http://goo.gl/181jo) from 2007 indicating similar concerns...

Finally! A solid article from +Forbes! I've had this discussion with a bunch of people here on G+ too, and the jury was out with a bunch of different opinions.

Basically the conclusion I came to was that G+ would not be serving ads any time soon, but that basically it was a way of Google getting to know its users better, in order to serve better targeted ads elsewhere - like mail for example.

When Glass finally becomes more mainstream, it's basically another way to gather data. I can't believe I'm agreeing with Forbes...

So this is what I've been wondering about: how will Google make money out of Google+ and its integration with other applications. Interesting article.___Finally! A solid article from +Forbes! Google I/O Just Pwned Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook
Read on Blogger:   http://goo.gl/SisMJ

I'm a fan of the Google brand.  But even if I wasn't, I'd still say this: Google just made Apple's WWDC and Microsoft's Surface unveiling look like last decades' news in a little over two hours.  They also made Facebook look like your grandma's social network.

This event foreshadowed Google's emergence as the hottest consumer tech company in the market today, if it wasn't already.  Jelly Bean (Android 4.1, as it turns out, but don't let the number fool you, this is no minor update) brought real game changers to the table, from performance enhancements, to better home screen management features, to better web Search, smart app updates (downloading only the updates, not the whole app), Voice Search that brings Siri-like talk back and natural language support, and more.

The Nexus 7 turned out to be everything rumored and then some.  Asus and Google have created a killer tablet at a killer price ($200 for 8GB, $250 for 16GB) that is certain to give the folks at Amazon cold sweats and nightmares with its high def screen, quad-core processor, NFC support, front-facing camera, and more.

Google's Project Tungsten was unveiled as the Nexus Q, a tiny round ball with lights that looks straight out of the future and unifies all your home entertainment technologies, integrates with your mobile devices, and syncs everything with Google's cloud, for around $300.  Your songs, movies, and more can now go with you everywhere you go, as well as your friends' content, for a true social multimedia experience in real life.

Google Play is riding high with more content (more movies, magazines, etc...), Nexus Q support, and basically almost anything you could want under the sun (and then some).

Project Glass took us for a vicarious ride with a skydiving team in a Google+ Hangout as they wing suited to land on the top of the stadium, scaled down the walls, and biked up to the stage.

And speaking of Google+, we got some interesting and exciting numbers: 250,000,000 users have upgraded their accounts, with 150,000,000 active users, 75,000,000 daily users, and more users on mobile than on the desktop, showing that Google's emphasis on designing a beautiful new mobile app was well worth it.

And updates?  You bet.  A new tablet app, and the new Events feature, are both said to become available in Google Play later today (at least this time they didn't piss off Android users by giving it to iOS users first).  Both the elegant tablet app and the new Events feature made Facebook's comparable offerings look arcane by comparison.

Facebook has never had a decent mobile app for any platform, let alone a true tablet app, and their own events feature is nothing more than a glorified RSVP list compared with the "real time" look and feel of the new Google+ Events.  Point: Google.

And, of course, as was expected, they showed off the improvements they've been making to Google Maps.  They also took steps to make life a lot easier both for app developers, and their hardware partners.

All of this was packed into just the opening keynote, leaving one to wonder how many more interesting surprises might be in store for the remainder of the conference.  What's more, none of this was vaporware like the Microsoft "look don't touch" Surface tablet, which I expect will soon be forgotten.  Attendees are all being given a Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and Nexus Q for their troubles.  Point: Google.

Oh, Apple, you got Facebook integration?  How adorably 2008.  Retina displays?  All the better to see just how far behind Google you actually are now.  In addition to everything I've mentioned, Google just started letting developers at I/O preorder Project Glass for $1500.  Apple jumped the shark; Google jumped out of a plane.  Point: Google.

You could feel the palpable excitement at just how much amazing stuff, how much technological wizardry and skillful showmanship was being displayed, the only thing really seeming to be missing was Larry Page himself, who must have been enjoying every minute of the show wherever he was.

Google I/O has already exceeded my wildest expectations, and I'm sure not alone in saying that.  The only thing that made it even better was the ability to watch it with my friends in a Google+ Hangout.

Things are about to get very interesting, and Google's opponents will now be playing catch up on nearly all fronts.  Some have asked: can Google really take on all of their opponents and win, while those opponents form deeper and deeper defensive-offensive relationships?  If Google I/O 2012 is any indication, the answer is a resounding: Yes, and without even breaking a sweat.

In just over two hours, Google put all of their rivals on notice that the ground beneath them was about to turn to quicksand, and probably put about 20 separate industries out of business in the process.

Great, thanks +Walid Muhammad

In Rancho's case, most borrowers must make a 30 percent down payment and have a credit score of at least 740, a two-year history of self-employment, a 12-month reserve and a business license or letter from a certified public accountant, HousingWire reported.

"The down payment and credit standards, among others, more than offsets the no-doc risk," said Mark A. Calabria, director of financial regulation studies at the politically conservative think tank, the Cato Institute.

Thinking of Refinancing? As you've probably heard, you will only be able to borrow 80% of your house value after July 9th, compared to 85% NOW. This means on a house worth $600,000 you would have access to $30,000 LESS after July 9th. Get your application in QUICK by going to https://www.notapennydown.com/apply.htm

While browsing through the posted real estate listings over the past couple of days, I was really struck by this offering. It wasn't the price or the pitch that really attracted me, or the sales pitch (not sure I even read the description to tell you the truth).

What really pressed my buttons with this property was the lifestyle that it offered the buyer. Too many properties that are on a decent chunk of land don't try to tell the buyer about the lifestyle advantages of living there - instead there's photographs of bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. While these are a factor - honestly, when you're marketing a property on land, the first thing that any prospective buyer will be looking at is the land.

No matter what your site is about, or how big you plan it to be - if you decide to use Wordpress, the theme you decide to use is absolutely pivotal to your site - how it looks, how it behaves, and how your users interact with it. When you select a theme, make sure that you choose one that is versatile to incorporate any changes you may wish to make later on - or that you're a good enough coder to get around it.

If you're like me, and you don't give a hoot about coding and are only interested in the content, then go for something that looks good, but is versatile enough to handle any changes you want to make.

I'd be very interested to hear about your experiences with themes, customizing them and your take on site design and theme selection...___

Some of you tech savvy folks have probably already seen this and know all about it, but this morning was my first time to run across it. There is a web site that has public posts and comments from social sites archived. You can go search for yourself or anyone. It's supposed to be helpful for folks who are working to build an online presence.

(I found it when I was looking up a lady I've never heard of because I've had two emails that are supposed to be from Linkedin that are inviting me to link with her. I'm not on Linkedin. I guess she has been hacked and my email is just out there?)

What happens to your online content when we die?

If I die, then does all my online data go to the corporations that host them, such as Google then forever owning all my G+ posts, images and other data? No-one else knows my passwords for my accounts and therefore cannot access, let alone delete them when I move on to the next big project after death.

What I am contemplating doing is leaving a document in a safe place (a deposit box would be good) containing all my passwords for my heirs to access. They can then access my password protected data when I'm not around any longer.

The problem that really impressed on me how important this issue is in the linked article is that Leonard Bernstein's memoir lies dormant on his computer because his password cannot be cracked - after 22 years. Crazy. What a loss.

This one really appeals to me - not that there are any photographs inside, but the outside has a great look. This is our well deserved Property of the day. The front garden and the entry way just looks fantastic. The home was built in 1922 and still looks fabulous.

What's interesting about this home too is the price. It was sold very recently for $412,000 and prior to that was sold at the end of 2004 for $406,000. That's a rarely seen increase these days - no matter how marginal.

This is just crazy - considering I was ecstatic about hitting 300 not too long ago. It's just been so much fun too.

For someone who doesn't post a great deal of stuff, I can only imagine that hitting this mark has been as a result of commenting and chatting like there's no tomorrow...

On another note, apologies to anyone who has sent me messages or pinged me over the last 3 or 4 days - I have a funny feeling that I have missed a lot when I went through my notifications this morning.

I have to thank +Lucas Appelmann for sharing an article about this remarkable 12 year old. The quote from that article (found here: http://goo.gl/q8SSp) that sums this piece up is:

"Let’s see.  The government can borrow money that ultimately comes from private banks, which admittedly create it out of thin air, and soak the taxpayers for a whopping interest bill; or it can borrow from its own bank, which also creates the money out of thin air, and avoid the interest.

Even a 12 year old can see how this argument is going to come out."

Please, do yourself a favour and watch this clip. It's under 7 minutes of pure spoken gold.

Take a look at this video, and you'll have more fun learning about economics than you thought possible. +Jesse Wojdylo and +Michael Drummond have you guys seen this?

Here is one incredible video about Macro-economics and money supply. Featuring the thoughts of 2 of the greatest economist of the 20th century. Keynes and Hayek. What could be better.

This should be shown in every classroom in America, starting in about the 5th grade. I think this would actually help kids to engage in and not be intimidated by economics. This is the kind of encouragement that is so lacking, particularly in urban school Ed. It engages within their field of periphery, within the context of their own 'pop culture'. Used as a vehicle towards greater knowledge, unbeknownst as such, that could have a profound impact, for many years to come. The rewards could be endless, for them, for us and for a their generation.___Take a look at this video, and you'll have more fun learning about economics than you thought possible. +Jesse Wojdylo and +Michael Drummond have you guys seen this?

The +World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer has released data confirming what many have suspected for quite some time: that an increasingly westernized diet world-wide leads to higher risks of cancer.

The issue is the processed nature of the foods westerners consume on a frighteningly regular basis, involving many chemical additives and preservatives whose long term effects are unclear... or are they?

See the original press release here: http://goo.gl/uR8tu - and another source (http://goo.gl/181jo) from 2007 indicating similar concerns...

My mind is still spinning a little after reading this... excellent, individual and far-reaching thinking put into action.

————————————————————————————————
How to get more of your Google+ readers to click your link:
My "Clickable text" method

I'd like to share with you my unique "Call to action" clickable text (links).
Similar to a hypertext but it works in a slightly different way. The Secret?

In a moment but first I'd like to say that Google + is a fantastic platform! But there is one current limitation with G+ and that is not being able to use standard hypertext or clickable text in your G+ posts or comments.

I have a way around that which still looks pretty good & still does the job
————————————————————————————————
Just a quick mention and thank you to +Visnja Zeljeznjak for urging me to make this post to share here. We were discussing her latest blogging strategy on Google + ( http://goo.gl/KZLO4 ), via +Chet Thaker's reshare and I discussed my own method of creating attention grabbing links. I was told that this idea would be worth sharing in a blog post so here we are.
————————————————————————————————
What is the advantage of using these unique types of links?

Well not only can these text links be used in your posts but also in your comments section of your posts, just like you would normally use hypertext to direct your visitors to any other domain or target of your choice including pages within G+.

How is it done? By using domains that look similar to a hypertext! Pretty simple hey! You know the old saying, the best ideas are right under your nose. The idea here is for these domains to only exist for the purpose of re-directing visitors to a particular URL or target of your choice. This can be done by forwarding that domain to a destination URL via your account with your domain provider. These links are also unique attention grabbers - See example below.

When you post a URL on G+ it automatically becomes a blue clickable link. I usually register domain names that end with .me and I turn them in to a readable sentence / "Call to action" using a bit of creativity. Below is an example together with some wording you might use. I have also directed it to a website of mine, just so you can test this idea out. "If you are interested in more from me then please-visit.me here to get all the latest info". Now at the time of this writing I paid around $7 for that link to register it for the first year. In less than 5 minutes I forwarded the .me link to my desired destination URL and that's all there is to it.

Notice how the above link stands out and the message is still just as clear as a typical hypertext? The only difference is the (.) before the (me) rather than a (-) but that shouldn't matter when it is still doing it's job right?

————————————————————————————————
My line of thinking behind this method is that we see so many links, all the time, every day and just about everywhere, that sometimes we tend to "over see" them. Ever notice when you see the same thing over again and again, after a while, these same things seem to disappear out of your awareness?

The way to avoid that in this particular case is by being creative and coming up with other ways for visitors to click on your links. You have to do something different to grab their attention. Call to action links or clickable text links are one way to do that in my opinion.
————————————————————————————————

Here are a few points when considering a good link to use:

- Keep it straight to the point.
- Use it as a C.T.A (Call to action)
- Use good wording, It must make sense.
- Use a hyphen to separate the words (Important for better visual)

"You can learnmorefrom.me here"

"You can learn-more-from.me here"

See the difference?

————————————————————————————————

Here are more of mine to give you some Ideas: (be creative)

(Please note that these links have not been activated / forwarded yet but will be in the near future or as needed.)

"To see more of my work please-circle.me here"
"If you are interested and would like to see-more-from.me then"
"If you would like to learn more you can subscribe-to.me here"
"If you want to find out more you-can-follow.me this way"

Do you think that these C.T.A links look compelling enough to get click throughs?

————————————————————————————————

More tips:

- Make your links *Bold* to make them stand out more.
- Less is more! Don't over use them.
- They stand out best when they are among a back ground of writing.
- (See above please-visit.me example).
- Most of all DON'T SPAM other peoples comments!!
- That will get you kicked off Google Plus faster than you can blink!
- The safest option is to just use them as a text link in your OWN posts and comments.

Finally you can also create what I call signature tags. These have a certain visual element added to them. You can see examples of these and other unique clickable link ideas on my "About" page on my profile page. I hope you found this useful.

I've just put together this Google+ page to highlight some of the excellent real estate photography I see here everyday. If you're in real estate in any capacity, you'll see plenty of great shots of all types of properties - like I do.

I don't think that these excellent photos get the attention they deserve, so would like to show some of them off. So go ahead, add this page to your circles to get great shots of great properties... and please feel free to nominate real estate photos that you think are great. Just tag the page and we'll take a look! Photographers, agents, brokers, investors and realtors all welcome!

While it's interesting that +Zillow is offering a new service, I don't see them really adding anything new and innovative in doing this. Instead, I think they're trying to enter a dying market. Sure, there will be a bunch of agents that take them up on this, because it's easy... but will it be worth it? What do you think +Cyndee Haydon? I'd be very curious to get your thoughts if you'd care to share them...
