Enhancing Augmented Reality mode

In past weeks we have done some further testings of augmented reality. One of the issues we have noticed during our tests, is the quantity and relevance of the information on the screen in combination with readability.

Our findings are now integrated in ARTOUR beta [goo.gl/bDeQa] and will be published in following versions. Check out what we have discovered.

This view is so bigger then before.

Location on the photo is great: there is 7 lakes in the valley on the way to Triglav mountain (2.886m). Not so hard to climb, great hiking tour.

Grateful for the influence of G+

I have a confession to make. In retrospect, before G+ came along, I think I did not like the person I was that much. Kinda weird, right? How +1s, some clicking and the odd comment can have such transformative power? I’ve spent the last six months travelling across Europe and Australasia giving talks and presentations to company executives struggling to cope with search and social media. 

It sounds glamorous but it’s not. You get tired by always being, mentally, in the wrong timezone. Double espressos become a necessity to force your brain to work and the transient nature of airports and hotels begins to get to you after a while. 

You become used to hotel staff that is there to deal with your every request. You accept as the norm that Room Service won’t even let you hold the door while they bring you breakfast. You take it forgranted... more »

New Google maps, I'm in

Just to brag a bit. :) But really, new maps are fantastic. In few seconds, my photo from the cemetery appeared in the stream below the map. And then, what I loved the most, a superb automatic slideshow of the main square, where it felt like being there, because the complete map felt like moving around depending on the actual position where the photo was taken.

Designed VS Natural

This week I was in a vitist to an Ecological farm [goo.gl/nsrbP]. The owner explained how important it is that we always have a proper mix of vegetation in our gardens. Some plants are good in preventing disseases, others serve as perfect natural fertilizer. Proper level of grass level prevents you from buying new seeds each year.

He explained that just by doing this, he gets following benefits:
 > no costs for chemicals (fertilizers)
 > his costs per hectare are 30 times lower than for other farmers who use chemicals and seeding
 > final food has much more energetic value (calories)

On the other hand, especially in towns, people tend to have well designed gardens. Nicely cut grass, few flowers here and there. Minimalistic or rich, it is mostly monocultural, artificial. And people into... more »

When I see all this excitement over Matt Cutts' announcement of new Penguin rollout it makes me cringe. Any SEO consultant worth their salt should not even be phased by this.

Why do I say this? Because I believe in holistic SEO. That might sound like a hippy term to describe a high-tech skill set but I have found this to be the best way to describe what we do.

SEO should be all about achieving results through the attribution of ACTUAL value. It should not be about technical short cuts, white hat or black hat, to achieve great rankings.

What is your intent? Is it all about making more money for the sake of making more money? Or is it about providing value to your community, promoting your service or product which truly is worth the price you are asking for it?

Aspartame: when the world starts shaking

Last week, I felt like the world is a big boat and floor is constantly moving. The feeling was weird and it lasted for some 20 minutes. Later on I forgot about it, but the next day in the morning I was reading a label on a juice I was drinking. Among ingredients was aspartame, the artificial sweetner.

Luckily I know now why that feeling came by. My history of sensitivity for artifical sweetners is long. Years ago I had the same weird feelings of dizziness and earth moving but couldn't figure it out why, because at the same time I had serious flu. After a while, I have noticed that dizziness increases after each medicine I took. The medicine was the kind to melt in your mouth and it was sugar free.

Using mobile guide as learning tool

Yes, we have tried to use mobile guide application +ARTOUR in completly new way. To teach young children about important people, heritage and history. And as it turned out, it was a complete success.
