Learning is a skill. It's easy to master. For example, I start differently when I'd want to learn something new in web development. Yes, I do break it down, and I start with deployment. Not the Hello World; deployment! That works for me. Just figure out what works for you.

To demonstrate learning faster, I also use this method to remember what I'm picking up. Deconstructed the video from the share into this visual. It's much easier to remember. #HowToLearnAnything

Linux System Programming, 2nd Edition

I'm pleased to announce the release of the second edition of Linux System Programming, my guide to system programming on Linux.

I updated the entire book to reflect new interfaces and behavior in the latest versions of the Linux kernel, glibc, and gcc—3.9, 2.17, and 4.8, respectively—as well as giving the text a universal overhaul with even more examples and interesting anecdotes.

What I am most excited about, however, is an all-new chapter on threading. I cover the basics of Pthreads, of course, but the meat of the chapter is a discussion on threading design and patterns in Linux. Should you use event-driven or thread-per-connection as your threading model? How does Linux's threading solutions scale? What are the costs of and alternatives to threading? Coming back from the robotics comp the other day in the car, there was another kid talking to my son about game play, people, etc.

The other child was overheard asking my son 'What race was he?'

To which my son replied with the best answer ever

'Human'

The other kid looked confused for a second before shutting up :)

Changing my gender to male on Google+ improved my What's Hot experience Google+ has updated how they distribute content to users through Explore

Earlier today, +Kimberly Chapman told me about a little experiment she'd done. She'd opened a tab on her browser and directed it to plus.google.com/explore, a stream that enables you to see the hottest content on Google+. In another tab, Chapman changed her gender on her Google+ profile from female to male, and then loaded the Explore page into another tab.

Bit confusing with so many things to look at, but a lot easier to see interesting posts. 

Initially i thought i may not like it , since i never liked facebook 2 column profile pages (confused me looking left/right for each post), but im actually really loving it! Very slick!

Guess what? #flatstanley  has joined my #SoyuzAdventure  and will be traveling to #Moscow   and to #Baikonur   for the #Soyuz   launch! I leave next week!
