Completely on cloud 9 today because last night I was running and decided to push it and try and run a full 5k without stopping, and I did it. First time. 6 weeks ago when I started I was able to run about 75 feet before I was out of breath and completely winded. Last night I did 5k in 35 min 16 seconds. I can't believe it. I've never felt better. :-D :-D

I've been at Google for over 8 years and I'm looking forward to this book. It's always good to get other's perspectives on things, especially things that touch your life everyday.

When +Eric Schmidt    says “exciting things happen when you bring people together,” he really means TOGETHER.

Here’s a peek into a real-life crowded, chaotic Google office. #howgoogleworks

This is too good to not reshare. :-)

Sarah Palin tries her hand at editorializing.

This is the kind of top-notch content you're missing if you're not subscribing to the Sarah Palin channel.

I'm not slamming Palin's politics, just to be clear. I'm slamming the aggressiveness of her incompetence.

There's actually a legitimate point to be made about fast-food wages being low 1) because, as Palin says at the end, it's a "stepping stone" job, not a career; and 2) because low wages keep food costs low, theoretically.

She's doing the opposite of making those legitimate points. ___This is too good to not reshare. :-)

I'm glad to hear that the two Americans infected with Ebola are recovering in Atlanta... but at the same time it reminds me of the movie Elysium.

They're not in giant open wards overflowing with people, but in sterile, climate controlled, comfortable, hospitals with dedicated supportive care personnel and access to every drug and treatment possible with no worries about supplies or availability.

I'm thankful they're getting that type of care... but very sad so many aren't. :-(

Tried an experiment, I found the installer for AIM 4.8  it was 2.59MB and was released on 18 December 2001 - almost 13 years ago.

I installed it into a Windows 7 virtual machine.

Not only did it install successfully, I was actually able to sign in with my old AIM screenname and password.  It still worked.  That's absolutely amazing backwards compatibility.

Random awesomeness.

They have a cool super contrasty look to them. I wanted to see if I could get something similar to that on my own.  NASA makes TONS of amazing images available to the public free of charge.  I found some high res TIFF images of the moon courtesy of "NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center Scientific Visualization Studio".

I processed them using the +Nik Collection by Google. Specifically using Silver Efex Pro 2 - to get the cool effect similar to the Restoration Hardware images.

So AT&T is going to buy Direct TV. This kind of scares me into thinking that they have no intent of ever running fiber with high speed internet to most households.

Now, If they were going to do so, they would just pump TV out over the fiber the way Google Fiber does, and satellite would be superfluous.  That's not to say they wouldn't, but dropping 50B on a satellite service seems to be a bad idea if you're going to replace it in a few years with fiber.

I have AT&T fiber into my house, not to the curb, but like into the actual house, and the fastest speed they offer is ADSL speeds over fiber. What a waste!  I once asked an AT&T I saw if they were going to offer higher speeds, and he pretty much said probably not, because people keep paying for DSL speeds, so why invest? So true.

Sigh, I hate the phone and cable companies.   #googlefiber ca... more »
