I don't hate gays ..but completely understand the resistance to accepting homosexuals. However, it's the behavior/act that is appalling, especially when they want it taught in schools and want to normalize it when it is not normal behavior but a disorder. I can love the sinner, but not the sin.

Sadly the homosexual lobby got them to remove it from the DSM of mental disorders and this is the result since the 70's they have been pushing it down our throats with gay parades and rainbow flags, etc and now pushing it in schools by using 'anti-bullying' programs. I just found this on Netflix. It looks like an interesting movie, and concerns a post WWI ghost hunter named Florence Cathcart (played by Rebecca Hall) who investigates a haunting at a boys' boarding school. After the first fifteen minutes, Ms. Cathcart is off to the school and established as an independent, freethinking woman.

I'm torn about this article. On one hand, we have Hugo Schwyzer telling men how to be men, and I don't take kindly to the Masculinity Police. When people tell women how to be women, women rightly object. I bristle when men tell me how to be a man, for the same reason.

On the other hand, I don't see the point of trying to date women much younger than me. If I was single again, it would be unpleasant enough to compete with men my own age for feminine attention. I don't need to make things harder for myself by competing with younger men.

I might not be a good man, but I still know my limitations.

Besides, as I once told +Giselle Minoli, I want a partner, not a pet. A woman several years (or decades) younger than me is not my equal in experience, or (hopefully) in wisdom. How can a mutually fulfilling relationship exist between unequal participants?

These guys didn't actually write or compile the Bible, but a lot of the stuff that makes Christianity a really weird religion if you didn't grow up believing can be traced to the First Council of Nicea.

You can be sure the religion would be different if the followers of Arius won out, and the Son was created by the Father instead of being part of a Trinity (a concept one might trace to the trimurti of Hinduism).

The smallest of the four farms surrounding the village Naomi had taken to calling Fort Clarion, after the Commonwealth Army base in Dr. Petersen's painting, belonged to the Brubaker family. The sun dipped behind the Allegheny peaks, and a premature dusk descended upon the village as she passed the front gate and proceeded along a path fenced off from the pastures. A few straggling cows continued to chew their cuds as she passed them. She heard a soft 'mrrr? mrrow?' behind her, and found a large grey tomcat with notched ears and deep green eyes winding about her calves to claim her for his own. Since Purina doesn't make bachelor chow, I have to make my own. You'd be surprised at how much tasty food you can get with half a cup each of white and brown rice, a can of red kidney beans, a package of Johnsonville Bratwurst, and couple of packets of Sazon Goya, and some olive oil. Just throw it all in the rice cooker and wait.

This isn't how I killed the Capra Demon in Dark Souls. I'm not a monkey who solves problems by flinging poo. Yes, you can fling poo in this game. It inflicts an especially nasty poison on enemies, but also poisons you if you're not careful.

And if you're not familiar with this game, the Capra Demon is a great big goat-headed monster with two huge swords, and a couple of rabid undead attack dogs, whom you fight in a really tight place.

Killing the Capra Demon is a royal pain in the ass if you don't have the right equipment. It's even worse if you aren't comfortable with fighting in Dark Souls, especially on your second playthrough where all the monsters are at least twice as nasty. I'm sure a few players got through this fight with dirty hands.

It might not be classic Sabbath, but I like it anyway. Mind you, the first Black Sabbath album I bought was Cross Purposes; Middle Earth Records of Oakdale, NY didn't have anything else at the time.

Sometimes, so much good/cool happens in such a short period of time that I feel like I am living in a black hole of awesome!

That is the Author of the books that I (admittedly) brazenly pinged in a Facebook post.  But he wrote back.  8D

/bouncebouncebounce  Now I just might have to like...  pick up painting again, just because he said nice things.

Also just let me put it on record (ad infinitum) that Authors are like, the celebs of celebs for me.  There would be very little of value in this world without them.  We wouldn't have stories, the very thing that shape our reality...  just..   they are special, amazing human beings.

(it's not that I've dropped painting - it's just, I'm at war with what I want from it, fwiw.)

Changing my gender to male improved my What's Hot experience on Google+

Earlier today, +Kimberly Chapman told me about a little experiment she'd done. She'd opened a tab on her browser and directed it to plus.google.com/explore, a stream that enables you to see the hottest content on Google+. In another tab, Chapman changed her gender on her Google+ profile from female to male, and then loaded the Explore page into another tab.

The difference was astonishing. "As a girl, I get stupid warm-fuzzy meaningless shit," Chapman writes on a post (http://goo.gl/ZDBxT). "As a guy, I get nerdy stuff. This is not okay. REVIEW: REDEYE BY MICHAEL SHEAN - FIVE STARS ON AMAZON

After +Michael Shean's detour with the excellent futuristic police procedural Bone Wires, Michael Shean returns to his main Wonderland storyline with a bang. Bobbi January, who we first met in Shadow of a Dead Star as a freelance hacker assisting detective Thomas Walken, returns as the lead in Redeye.

We begin slowly, with January (whom I hesitate to call Ms. January for obvious reasons) making a new life for herself after the events of Shadow of a Dead Star and the disappearance of Thomas Walken. Shean's skill at characterization is evident here as he gives us a sense of January's unrequited, enduring love for Walken. This sentiment, which Shean presents without unnecessary sentimentality, drives January through the rest of the story.

I played the PS3 demo for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon last night. The 80s style is dead on, the action is tight, and most of the dialogue is hilarious. However, I won't be buying the game.

Why? Because the protagonist, while dispatching an enemy soldier, called him a "cunt stabber". I don't need to subject my wife to that shit.

After reading about the CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch's exclusionary vision and selling campaign and ad strategy -  and then going online to confirm it -  I just cut Abercrombie and Fitch out of my buying or advertising matrix.

Sorry people, but if this is the attitude of the company, I don't want it. Not because I'm big, heavier or wear an XL or an XXL. Instead, because there are many BEAUTIFUL people who do wear those sizes. In fact, most of the world is way beyond a size 6.

I feel that this company's Marketing and Mission statement is destructive to people and in particularly horrifyingly damaging to girls and young women.

I often come up with bad dialogue which I find perversely amusing. Because I have a sensible wife, and because I want to do good work, such dialogue usually ends up in an "outtakes" folder. I thought this time I'd try to make my crappy dialogue do something useful.
