When a guy who wrote one of the modules in our app left the team, and I take it over and want to do this one small enhancement, and I find some piece of code that is like 95% match for what I need, so I decide to just refactor it into a reusable base class, modify the existing code to extend that class and implement the "missing" 5% of the new required functionality in yet another extension class, and I'm thinking to myself how clever I am as my IDE is doing all the refactoring, and five minutes after I start manual changes in the new inheriting classes, it's all like...

Ditching Plex Media Server for the combination PS3 Media Server + Skifta + MX Player Pro. Plex transcodes everything with crappy/non-working/slow seek support.
So far everything I've thrown at MX Player Pro decodes in hardware on my Galaxy Tab 10.1!! Can't believe I put up and even recommended Plex :)

Android Jelly Bean 4.2 (Jelly Bean) SDK
Is available for download now.
Highlight include Renderscript computation directly in the GPU on the Nexus 10, interactive lock screen widgets directly on their device lock screens, support for external displays that glets you target unique content to any number of displays attached to an Android device, and enhancements for international users.

Android 4.2 running on Galaxy Nexus already! Definitely staying with #Nexus devices!! If you do a manual upgrade make sure your radio is XXLF1

Waiting for the Android 4.2 SDK release next week. I'm really hoping it will bring Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (GATT) support but not holding my breath. Last week in the Android Office Hours I asked about BLE support in the upcoming release and the devs were quite evasive about this, which either means they knew it will not be in 4.2 or they really want to have it as a surprise bullet point..
I've also looking into BLE support in the Linux BlueZ stack and as of November 2012 it still looks like it's not too mature yet, even in the latest kernel releases. As Android is not tracking the latest and greatest kernel this makes it even more unlikely we'll see BLE come next week.
Here's wishing Google / Android surprising us!

Installing ree on Mountain Lion AKA an hour of Googling and recompiling later:
- Install Brew
- Install XQuartz
- brew install readline
- brew link readline
- brew install apple-gcc42
- Install RVM
- rvm pkg install openssl
- rvm pkg install iconv
- export CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/X11/include
CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc-4.2 rvm install ree --disable-tcl --disable-tk --with-readline-dir=/usr/local/Cellar/readline/6.2.4 --with-iconv-dir=$rvm_usr_path --with-zlib-dir=$rvm_usr_path --with-openssl-dir=$rvm_usr_path
And maybe... maybe it will just work..
