Not quite the same flow as the iconic Icelandic waterfall Skogafoss but Wailua in elevated flow definitely has an impact when viewed from river level! Now if only you could hear the roar and get blasted by the spray!

"Solitude"

(view in a darker space)

Up on a ridge in Arches National Park I had spotted a location to photograph a great panorama of sunset over the park. Of course, like any photographer there was a significant amount of waiting. So there I was, perched on this rock with my camera at this great expansive scene. Then I turned around.

Untitled Ke'e Beach

Low tide, pre-dawn twilight, earth shadow near the horizon and perfectly ribbed sand. Ke'e Beach, one of the most popular on Kauai if not the state of Hawaii, has a rare empty moment before the day brings sun bathers and hikers to wonder in the amazing Na Pali coast.

Some shots are planned, others are serendipitous. This particular image requires intense planning and of course, good luck. As I was driving down to Hanalei, late of course, I cam around the curve in the road to see the moon hanging above the Hanalei Pier as expected. Now I needed to get there in time. Parked the car and ran down the beach to compose the moon and Pier properly before it disappeared in to the clouds at the horizon. Luckily was able to get just a few shots off before it was gone for the morning. The thrill of the chase!

Twilight over Namolokama and it's amazing waterfalls. The blue/purple/magenta glow can be so wonderful before sunrise. This low cloud was the icing on the cake...if the cake was a mountainside dripping with waterfalls :)

Just another one of those perfection tropical streams running through the north shore of Kauai. Late afternoon light reflecting off of a cloud illuminated this scene with incredible color!
