beatstone2,054,673+Artists In The Plus is proud to bring you a very special "Concerts In The Plus!' with Guitar Legend +Preston Reed. (Banner Photo By +Ralf Hebauf ) +Preston Reed has virtually reinvented how the acoustic guitar is played. Reed practices a flamboyant self-invented style, characterized by percussive techniques and simultaneous rhythm and melody lines that dance and ricochet around each other, giving his music a level of excitement that is unparalleled among today's guitarists. Playing an array of guitars from acoustic to electric to classical Reed's vast range of explosively original music will forever change your expectation of a guitarist. First-time listeners find it impossible to believe that they're hearing just the one musician, in real time. Reed attacks the entire instrument in a never-ending search for the orchestra he knows is lurking inside. At full tilt, his fingers, thumbs, fists and hands at once suggest a drummer, keyboardist, bassist and several guitarists at work. The most impressive thing about Reed's technique, though, is that it doesn't draw attention to itself. His compositions are far from abstract virtuosic displays; even without lyrics he creates vivid, engrossing scenes. Sometimes the effect is almost onomatopoetic. Reed generates visual stimuli with every tweak of his instrument, thus augmenting his wordless compositions with an aura of the poetic. Each tune is a story in itself with a potent, cinematic atmosphere and an almost tangible thread of communication between Preston Reed and the listener. Reed's entry into this guitar odyssey was inauspicious enough, his path thereafter largely self-discovered. A few chords learned from his guitar playing father, a brief, very brief, flirtation with the ukulele, clandestine practice sessions of his favourite Beatles and Stones songs on dad's guitar .... and then a too-strict classical guitar teacher led to premature retirement. At 16, however, Reed heard Jefferson Airplane's rootsy blues offshoot, Hot Tuna. His interest was rekindled big time. Acoustic guitar heroes John Fahey and Leo Kottke were studied, their styles absorbed but not imitated, and at this point things really begin to get interesting because, at 17, Reed, by now precociously proficient, played his first live gig, supporting beat poet Allen Ginsberg at the Smithsonian Institute. Just getting on a train from his native Armonk in New York State to Washington was a cool adventure. And it was just the first of many, not least of which was the one which resulted from his signing his first deal with a major record company, MCA, through the auspices of his friend, country singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett. Determined to make the most of this opportunity, Reed pushed himself to go beyond the standard fingerpicking styles he'd perfected. The result was the beginnings of Reeds startlingly innovative style, with its percussive, two-handed fretboard attack, that you hear today and which has caused guitar luminaries such "Concerts In The Plus!" I use Google hangouts for hangouts as well as viewing and sending SMS/text messages.

Intriguingly, twice today, I've got the message in the pic about using a different app for SMS/text messages when I've opened up the hangouts app.

Seems as though Google might not want people to text via the hangouts app.

10 Facts Every Woman Should Know:

1. Everyone has rolls when they bend over.
2. When someone tells you that you're beautiful, believe them. They aren't lying.
3. Sometimes we all wake up with breath that could kill a goat.
4. For every woman unhappy with her stretch marks is another woman who wishes she had them.
5. You should definitely have more confidence. And if you saw yourself the way others see you, you would.
6. Don't look for a man to save you. Be able to save yourself.
7. It's okay to not love every part of your body....but you should.
8. We all have that one friend who seems to have it all together. That woman with the seemingly perfect life. Well, you might be that woman to someone else.
9. You should be a priority. Not an option, a last resort, or a backup plan.
10. You're a woman. That alone makes you pretty damn... more »

Heating is cranked up on the train and I've been awake since 4am.

Must stay awake.

If I sleep through my stop the next south bound train isn't until approx 6:30am from Pwllheli.

Rather good motivation to stay awake I think.

Only part of the way through a long day today.

Due to me unintentionally sleeping through alarms, I have 6 alarms which go off at different times between 4am and 6am. Just my luck, today I got woken by the first alarm. Meaning I've been awake since 4am ( I didn't trust myself to wake up at or before 6am if I went back to sleep).

I'm now looking after +Books Plus for my parents and then rather than heading straight back up the coast, I'm going to a meeting in Borth this evening to do with Borth station museum which some people may remember I volunteered in last year.

The museum closes for the winter and will be reopening at the half term holidays (later this month I think) so, the meeting is to sort out a few things before reopening as well as catching up on things from the meeting in November last year.

Made it to Dovey Junction. Water is currently lower than it was in pictures on the news yesterday (it was up over the track) but, tide is still coming in so, that might change.

Fortunately the train should get here before the spring tide gets too high.

You can also see that it's been fairly windy lately because there's grass hanging onto the fence. Not seen that before.

This was filmed by someone else (and has been reuploaded by someone else) from the train at Llanaber yesterday morning.

Fortunately not as bad this morning. Train only hit slightly by 3 waves but, guard was taking no risks and had us all sitting on the non sea side of the train as we went through that bit this morning.

Pleased to report that #StormImogen has left the area and apart from being a bit overcast and and a bit of a cold breeze the weather isn't too bad this morning.

Combination of high tide and wind from Storm Imogen mean the tide is extra high today in the nearby Dwyryd estuary.

Salt marshes are flooded (fence in water goes out to edge of river) and fortunately sea wall is doing it's job.

The salt marshes flood at least a few times a year but, I've not seen the estuary up onto the track that runs along the bottom of the sea wall before.

FULL TIME: WALES 16 - IRELAND 16

If possession of the ball meant points then Wales should have won by lots of points but, seeing as at one point in the first half, the score was Wales 0 - Ireland 13, it was a brilliant come back from Wales.

Quite a while since I last saw a draw in an international game.

Next for Wales will be Scotland back home at the Millennium Stadium (aka the Principality Stadium courtesy of the naming rights being sold) in Cardiff next Saturday.

Not bad for someone who only started playing it on New Year's Day this year.

It's meant to be dry until approx 3pm according to the BBC weather app but, Ingress activity in Porthmadog has come to a stop as nobody told the rain that it wasn't due until 3pm.

So, I find myself in the Big rock cafe. I've been in the front before when getting something to eat on the go but, because I live so close to Porthmadog I don't usually vist the cafes and restaurants in Porthmadog.

Have found myself in the extra seating area which as you can see a bit of it looks like somebody's front/sitting room. I'm currently sat on a comfortable but, slightly worn leather sofa. Rest of the room has benches and tables.

Treating myself to a beef, Monterey jack cheese and salad sandwich and a cherry coke but, unlike all the others I've had before this cherry cola is in a glass bottle and isn't made by Coca Cola.

This ladies and gentleman is why I say you shouldn't believe the bs from the press and those who post online thinking they know who the new +Top Gear presenters are going to be because not a single one of them said Matt Le Blanc.

This is an example of why I said and I say regards the future of +Top Gear the TV show if it isn't from the BBC, +Top Gear or Chris Evans then don't trust the source regards who is going to be presenting or what's happening with the show.

Having said that, I've never seen Le Blanc present so, I'm unsure if he'll be any good but, there's only one way to find out.

If he's prepared to possibly hand himself over on Friday to the police the question does spring to mind of "Why the f*ck didn't he hand himself over sooner?"

Would have saved large amounts of time and money.

Hopefully when he does leave he's made to pay back the money that was spent to stop him trying to sneak out of the embassy.

Hopefully also he'll be carted off to Sweden to face trial for the allegations made against him (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11949341) although I fear that the reason he's prepared to leave the embassy is because the Swedes don't have enough evidence or the Swedish prosecutor has run out of time to bring charges which I think is unfair to the 2 ladies involved.

I've no idea who Austin Blood is and I suspect due to lighting of certain parts of the pic, the pic might be photoshopped but, what I do know is that I agree with the 10 facts.

That alone makes you pretty damn remarkable.

I use Google hangouts for hangouts as well as viewing and sending SMS/text messages.

Intriguingly, twice today, I've got the message in the pic about using a different app for SMS/text messages when I've opened up the hangouts app.

Seems as though Google might not want people to text via the hangouts app.

This year is the start of 6 years where TV coverage in the UK of the +RBS 6 Nations will be split between BBC and ITV.

As someone who has enjoyed +BBC Sport's coverage of the +RBS 6 Nations coverage since I was a little lad and having seen the crud coverage ITV Sport did of the Rugby World Cup (the only thing that I reckon saved their coverage in anyway is that they got commentators like Eddie Butler in who know what they are taking about), I'm slightly worried about what the quality of coverage is going to be like.

To see which broadcaster is showing which games, have a look at the list at the other end of the link.

I think S4C are showing all the Wales games so, I may very well watch the games via them if the ITV coverage is crud.

I truly hope as an F1 fan that part of the way through this shared broadcasting rights deal that the head honchos at the BBC don't decide to drop +RBS 6 Nations coverage due to costs in a similar way to what's happened with F1 TV coverage. ___

Bad news: has been pointed out that due to my noobness and naïveté that I've got some of my links in the wrong places and have to let a key portal die which means several of my control fields are going to disappear :(

Thought it was going too well.

I went to a Welsh language playschool/ kindergarten which was known as ysgol feithren. I then went onto primary school aka ysgol gynradd which was both Welsh and English language taught but, more towards Welsh language.

Then it came to going to ysgol uwchradd aka secondary school.

Due to where I grew up, I had the choice of 3 Welsh language schools (Tregaron, Aberaeron and Penweddig in Aberystwyth) and 1 English language school (Penglais in Aberystwyth).

At the time I had no idea which to go to. My year in primary school was that small (approx 40 pupils) that my year was only 5 other pupils and me. My reading and writing in welsh were deemed that good by a number of people that they thought I'd be going to Penweddig but, my English speaking parents decided that they weaned me to go to Penglais which surprised me and others.

When I asked my mum shortly after I'd started at Penglais, why she and dad had chosen Penglais instead of Penweddig, the reason she gave was that she and dad believed that they would be unable to help with homework etc as both don't really speak any welsh (mum knows a bit from what she's picked up and helping me and my sister when we were at primary school).

It was interesting watching this programme just now because it reminded me about the decision my parents made and possibly helped me understand some of what may have been going through their heads back in '92 and '93. Also caused me to wonder how going to Penweddig instead of Penglais might have changed things for me.

Whilst I did go to a secondary school where all lessons were taught in English apart from the Welsh lessons which due to varying abilities in the class were taught in a mixture of Welsh and English, I did get my one and only A in my GCSE exams in Welsh (second language).

I use my speaking Welsh occasionally but, due to lack of use, it's a bit rusty as was proven at the market on Saturday. My reading and listening to Welsh are better than speaking and I can watch S4C and read the Welsh language local newspapers alright.___

In the video clip, Terry Wogan is signing off from doing his last ever breakfast show on +BBC Radio 2 (just before Chris Evans took over the breakfast show) on December 18th 2009.

At the time he was saying goodbye and thank you to his breakfast show listeners over the years and that he would be back on the radio to do his new radio show on a Sunday in the then future but, it seems on the day that he passed away as though it's one last farewell to his fans and those who hold him in high esteem for what he did during his 50 years in broadcasting.

R.I.P. Sir Terry Wogan.

I got a few things including tonight's tea which is sage and onion pork burgers from near Pwllheli and cheese and onion rolls from a bakery in Blaenau Ffestiniog(turns out it's just round the corner from +The Little Bookshop which I was looking after yesterday).
