ARTISTS IN THE PLUS1,946,733+Artists In The Plus is proud to bring you a very special "Concerts In The Plus!' with Guitar Legend +Preston Reed. (Banner Photo By +Ralf Hebauf ) +Preston Reed has virtually reinvented how the acoustic guitar is played. Reed practices a flamboyant self-invented style, characterized by percussive techniques and simultaneous rhythm and melody lines that dance and ricochet around each other, giving his music a level of excitement that is unparalleled among today's guitarists. Playing an array of guitars from acoustic to electric to classical Reed's vast range of explosively original music will forever change your expectation of a guitarist. First-time listeners find it impossible to believe that they're hearing just the one musician, in real time. Reed attacks the entire instrument in a never-ending search for the orchestra he knows is lurking inside. At full tilt, his fingers, thumbs, fists and hands at once suggest a drummer, keyboardist, bassist and several guitarists at work. The most impressive thing about Reed's technique, though, is that it doesn't draw attention to itself. His compositions are far from abstract virtuosic displays; even without lyrics he creates vivid, engrossing scenes. Sometimes the effect is almost onomatopoetic. Reed generates visual stimuli with every tweak of his instrument, thus augmenting his wordless compositions with an aura of the poetic. Each tune is a story in itself with a potent, cinematic atmosphere and an almost tangible thread of communication between Preston Reed and the listener. Reed's entry into this guitar odyssey was inauspicious enough, his path thereafter largely self-discovered. A few chords learned from his guitar playing father, a brief, very brief, flirtation with the ukulele, clandestine practice sessions of his favourite Beatles and Stones songs on dad's guitar .... and then a too-strict classical guitar teacher led to premature retirement. At 16, however, Reed heard Jefferson Airplane's rootsy blues offshoot, Hot Tuna. His interest was rekindled big time. Acoustic guitar heroes John Fahey and Leo Kottke were studied, their styles absorbed but not imitated, and at this point things really begin to get interesting because, at 17, Reed, by now precociously proficient, played his first live gig, supporting beat poet Allen Ginsberg at the Smithsonian Institute. Just getting on a train from his native Armonk in New York State to Washington was a cool adventure. And it was just the first of many, not least of which was the one which resulted from his signing his first deal with a major record company, MCA, through the auspices of his friend, country singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett. Determined to make the most of this opportunity, Reed pushed himself to go beyond the standard fingerpicking styles he'd perfected. The result was the beginnings of Reeds startlingly innovative style, with its percussive, two-handed fretboard attack, that you hear today and which has caused guitar luminaries such "Concerts In The Plus!" Richi Jennings47,761Sunday Circle Share of Awesome... :: A big HELLO to all the new Plussers I met over the past week--and a few I reconnected with. (If you see this in email or as a notification, you're in the circle.)In the main, these folks are engagers, not passive consumers, so do add them if you're looking for interesting conversations here on G+.Also, feel free to share this publicly. Spread the love! If you're using the G+ mobile app, this may not work correctly, because circle sharing doesn't seem to be implemented right :-(For last week's share: richij.com/g/ExCMCmBsQWw 2013-09-22 17:12:4311412215

Johnny Johnsen5,985#F1Johnny  Circle :I have had some Formula 1 circles this season. Some from them from the one and only +Jens Graikowski  , some from others and some i have made myself. The things that matters for me is that the person in this circle is above average interested in Formula 1. If you do not get many (sometimes to much) post about Formula 1, you are probably in my "Motorsport " circle or or another one :)I want the person in this circle to feel that he or she belong there. If you want to be there but isn`t. Notify me !If you are in there and think this is to much Johnny !!!!! Notify me !  :-)Now Googla is on fire with "Communities" and this is great news for usFormula 1 fans. Now we can move in to the #F1 #Communities and just chat about Formula 1 all winter :-)Here are the links to the one i`m in :  http://bit.ly/VEMMJhhttp://bit.ly/TRWt1PI will also post and share my Formula 1 circle and my Motorsport circle.I hope that Formula 1 2013 season will be THE season for F1 followers on Google Plus. I think communities and the fact that it is so many more members here at the start of the season will make this to a great team.Google Plus will crush FB and be a good addition to Twitter in 2013 season :-)98,5 days left to the start ;)PS: If there is a lot of spelling mistakes, the reason is that Google Translate is not at work today :-)Have a great wintertime, and a fantastic Christmas.Johnny2012-12-08 17:42:33302805
Marc Jansen29,662A circle of the people, by the people, and for the people (of my circles)Earlier today, I asked people to pick a number from 1-300 with the intent of coming back later and putting together a shared-circle that represented that input. After consolidating the data, I was left with 91 unique responses.  (Yes, I counted each and every number given to me, rounding where needed and substituting 1 for i, as it was as close as I could get.)I then selected the top 300+ people from my circles based up on relevance, and then removed those whom I know dislike being part of shared circles and a few folks who've apparently gone MIA, back-filling as need to get me back to 300, and then started matching names according to Google's relevance ranking with the 91 numbers you folks provided to me.So, I now present to you:  _a random selection of 91 of the top-300 people in my circles, chosen by you, the people IN my circles._This circle is made up of people and pages from all walks of life, and all corners of the globe, but they all have one thing on common - I found them interesting enough to circle, and they tend to be folks that I interact with on a fairly regular basis.(If you don't see your name here, do not blame me, by the way, I was completely impartial throughout this entire selection process.)2012-12-04 21:06:379230217
Jens „Google Plus Yoda“ Graikowski10,635Last share of the F1 circle (Part one) ...As I have completely changed my circle system and am working exclusively with my "Interaction Ladder" (http://bit.ly/VfSrjs) for incoming and my "Targeted Circles" (http://bit.ly/XSXBoR) for outgoing traffic I have decided to delete even my last themed circle, the #FormulaOne  circle.I believe that creating a #Formula1  community via a circle is impractical and cumbersome. A #GooglePlusPage  is better suited for this endeavour, so if you want to be part of a large #F1 community I recommend you try some of the pages around, like +F1 Circle (the page that belongs to this circle) or +Formula 1 Fans. I will share this circle in two parts (One of the reason that it is cumbersome. You can't share circles larger than 500) so it doesn't get lost for those who are still interested in it. I will delete it from my circles afterwards. This is part one with F1 aficionados from A to L. The M to Z part will follow in a second.Don't get me wrong! I'll keep on posting about the F1 and I'll do so publicly. You can still all read my Formula 1 posts. If you'd like to be notified of them I'll gladly add you to my Formula 1 targeted circle. Just +1 the first comment underneath this post!I hope we'll all enjoy the last race of the season 2012 and am looking forward to see you all again in 2013.And now go and share this circle all over the place, will ya!Greez,+Jens Graikowski ***************************************************************** #jgformula12012-11-22 23:02:21367418

Dede King0I Missed My Cake DayThe 2 November 2011 was my cherry popping entry into the land of Plus. A year later and I can honestly say it's the best social network I've ever used. I can't remember a time, ever, when I've looked more insane smiling, laughing and scowling at a tech device in numerous coffee shops across the map.I just wanted to say thank you to the thousands of amazing people who've circled me, some of whom I've been privileged to meet and get to know. I wish circles weren't limited to 5000 and a 500 share so I could ping you all.So, Thank You (with a special nod, hugs and kisses to the top 12, yes even you) for making it fun, interesting, exciting, textless, pouncable, inflammatory, lollable, educational, thought provoking, melt worthy, smile inducing, loving, warm - just downright fantabulous. All my plusses they belong to you. Literally. Who else am I going to give it to ? Facebook? This link gave me my public plus stats - all of it is thanks to you :) http://www.allmyplus.com/u/107635094329792651474#startI must admit, I'm grateful I posted the more contentious topics limited. Aren't you? Everything is so pubic these days.Yes I meant to say pubic.Did you miss it? You're getting old.I wonder how many of these post scripts I can do before I run out of things to say.Are you still reading?Still?I need coffee. As always, have an amazing day, week, month, year x2012-11-08 09:07:0949964675
Dede King0Google Plus says,"Dede King, the following people are relevant to you for the month of November."I say, "Spanks." I herewith christen it (so to speak), the MFK circle or The Block Party. Sometimes, I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion. If you get all the somewhat obscure references, all my plusses they belong to you.+The Best Circles on Google+ +Shared Circles (Обмен кругами) +CIRCLES on Google+  Relevance, I assume, is based on interaction over time.2012-11-01 16:05:5350026242163

martin shervington15,942New Commoogling Engagers in October. i.e. people NEW to me and that have kindly been so supportive over the past few weeks, especially around all of the  #commoogling  posts and events.I will be adding everyone into my Great Engagers circle - with a bit of a clean up this time on people who are not engaging...Note: I am not in this circle; and it is over 100 people so I couldn't notify you; So..please add and share this circle if you think you want to meet some new Great Engagers on Google+. I really want to support you all as much as possible and this is just one way that tends to work well.I look forward to many more interactions with you all.2012-10-18 16:57:451309722
Dede King0The Oontz Oontz Circle #Top500  According to Google. This started as a ♂ circle, then became a 'Let me test G+'s notification limits' circle, but gosh there's just too many. I need more estrogen in my circles if this is anything to go by. I was listening to electro-house music in the background. Connect the dotz.I'm pretty sure this is a good bunch, though there might be some rogue snipers that missed my wine toothed comb. I notified no one. I'm just throwing it out there because I can't sleep and going through my circles and rambling in run on incoherent sentences about it seemed like a good idea at the time.2012-09-12 00:43:30500163447

I have absolutely no idea what the algorithm for this is, but there are a few peeps in this circle that hardly ever interact with me and, because of that, some others who do, have just fallen short of being included. Actually I had to adjust the circle, because I had one in there who doesn't even have a G+ account :-/)Most of them are engaging with me on a daily basis by chat, mail or posts.Want to create your own?► Click circles on the tab on the right► Make sure relevance is selected (default)► Select the top 99 users. Technical delegate Jo Bauer put forward his findings after Saturday's qualifying session, claiming that both cars are in breach of the regulations. The effect of the strange looking torque maps is that maximum power is not delivered in the mid RPM ranges suggesting that the exhaust flow is used to influence the aerodynamics. G+ for weeks and months now ... now we went one step further ... in one of my last posts i asked all members of the circle to send me their's, since it was probable that they had some #foreveralone aficionados in their private F1 circle that weren't yet in ours ... and there were! ... our SUPER F1 CIRCLE has grown to impressive 593 members! ... since i can only share 500 in a circle, this is the first installment ...the next installment will follow in a second, but there might be a problem ... since google in its infinite wisdom decided to make every movement in your circles a circle addition i can't split the circle properly ... i tried to and because i had moved some of the F1 buffs around already, my circle page told me that i had exceeded my limit to add people to my circles ... i had only added about 20 but since i moved hundreds from one circle to another i was told off ... well, that is the subject for another post ...anyway, i'll share the second installment in a sec, but there might be some doubles ... that doesn't matter though if you just add the second circle to the first ... doubles will automatically ignored then ...if you still have your ow F1 circle, send it to me (share it with just me) ... i will add to the next update then ... like this we should be able to collect the majority of the F1 buffs in one all encompassing circle ... thx for your collaboration! ...please don't forget to share this post publicly! ... we want to reach every F1 fan out there and we can only do that with your help! ... and don't forget, we are going to start our formula 1 race hangout at around 6pm GMT! ... you better reserve yourself a spot ... read more here http://bit.ly/Lg58Xj ! ...greez,+Jens Graikowski ...************************************************************************permalink to this post: http://bit.ly/KJbun4 ... #jgformula1  if you'd like to be notified about these kinds of posts, please read http://bit.ly/JPJxor ... if, on the other hand you are already receiving these notifications and would rather not anymore, please let me know in a PM (no questions asked) ...2012-06-10 15:52:2850116412

Jens „Google Plus Yoda“ Graikowski3,652newest version of our #F1 circle ...updated on the saturday, the 14th of april 2012» honey, they're here!+Max Huijgen has finally shared his eagerly anticipated #formulaone circle ... just in time for the race weekend in china ... i added it to our already existing circle and we gained a whopping 96 new members! ... thx to his excellent work our circle is now 344 #formula1 buffs strong! ... that's impressive, though there must be more out there ... please share this circle publicly, so we can find them all! ... if you are reading this and are not yet included in the circle, but would like to be, give me a shout in the comments! ...» who are we?originally this circle was curated by +Brian Titus (with a bit of a helping hand by myself) to bring all the F1 fans at #googleplus together and discuss our favorite subject ... we have our own +page too, called +F1 Circle ... don't forget to add it! ... apart from discussing the news around the formula 1 circus we'd like to do more though ... i for example will invite the whole circle to a hangout at every #race (if i can't or won't watch a race, like bahrain, we'll find somebody else who starts the hangout) ... like this, we can watch the #grandprix together (it's always nicer in good company) ... if you have some other great ideas about activities, that could make our little circle more interesting, let me or +Brian Titus or +Max Huijgen know! ...and now, let's all have a great time together! ...greez,+Jens Graikowski ...****************************************************************************** #jgformula12012-04-14 18:59:363441007
Max Huijgen20,565Will Rob Smedley start driving the Ferrari himself? An F1 circle of fans!A few weeks ago I started collecting people who are real fans of F1. Now crowd sourcing has the disadvantage that there are always people who want to be in a circle no matter the subject. I have taken my time to go through comments and posts all over G+ and came up with the following hard core fans. Now I´m pretty sure there must be much more and I will gladly add you if you have a clue about the post titlle :)Now, there is already a +F1 Circle and +Jens Graikowski and +Brian Titus have been curating this. Last year +Kol Tregaskes and I made the same effort. The goal is of course to get to one circle to rule them all ;)It makes no sense at all to have fragmented circles so I checked mine against the existing ones and found 98 new names compared to the latest shard one, so that´s good news. Before I merge I want to be sure we have as many people who really love #F1 as possible and avoid taking on board too many people who just want to be in. If you already have the latest circle you can just add this one to it to win the 98 new ones. What I hope for however is that we will find even more F1 fans thanks to this post and that I can share an even larger one next time. So if you´re in it and feel others are forgotten please mention them. Oh, and if you don´t want to be notified just say so, and I make sure someone else can be on the selected list for notifications.2012-04-14 14:56:1417056622

I haven't watched tonight's debate yet (it's sat on the freesat box waiting for me to watch it tomorrow) but, I don't think Nigel Farage won many votes from the studio audience when he attacked them.

Some might say the race organisers screwed up.

Either they should have come up with a race route that avoided the railway or arranged somehow with the railway company so such a situation as this didn't happen.

Long story short, 80+mile round trip by car (even more time and distance if I tried to do it by public transport) to get to a cinema showing the new Avengers film so, I'm waiting for it to come out on Bluray.

Apparently it could have been as long as 3 hours but, it was cut down for the cinema release but, it might be possible to see the 3 hour version when it comes out on Bluray and DVD according to this article.

After yesterday's slight scare story (https://plus.google.com/+JimWall/posts/MegxAxkMBQj) , today +BBC News have posted an article explaining what ERTMS is. Although what I've always known as ERTMS they, call ETCS.

My only grumble is that they only mention the Cambrian line which in my mind runs between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth and not the Cambrian Coast Line which runs from Dovey Junction to Pwllheli (the bit I normally travel on) which was/still is part of the test track for ERTMS/ETCS.

Have to admit I did chuckle at:

"And there are some who think the work can be completed nationwide without causing chaos. Joe Little, of rail project management firm CPC, believes that although ETCS will be the biggest change to the infrastructure since the Victorian pioneers, it can be achieved with minimum disruption. "Traditionally you'd shut the railway down whereas now the new digital system can be overlaid on top of the old mechanical system so you can test it thoroughly before making the final switch.""

Although perhaps by us having all the problems in the first few months of testing on the Cambrian and Cambrian Coast Lines, it means it'll be less problematic for the rest of the UK rail network when it comes to roll out.___

Just when I seem to have dealt with the rooks and crows breaking the bird feeders and scaring off the garden birds, another problem appears in the last couple of days in the form of a cat I've been told is called Lemon.

It (the person who identified the cat didn't say whether it was male or female) seems to be considering the hedge with all the garden birds living in it and feeders hanging on it as a buffet by the looks of it, although shrews have been seen running out from under the hedge which might explain why Lemon is looking at the bottom of the hedge in the pic.

Lemon even had the cheek to sit on the outside window ledge last night and seemed to be spending half it's time looking at the birds and the other half watching me watching the tv.

Apparently Lemon has a very nice home further along in the village so, it's not a stray in need of a new home.... more »

A nice fun story for anybody travelling on the Cambrian Coast Line this morning (not).

The signalling system they are talking about is ERTMS which has been trialled over the last few years on the Cambrian Coast Line (bit of railway track i normally trundle along when travelling in train shaped things).

As far as I know it hasn't been hacked and if it had there's been no train crashes.

2 General Election thoughts/observations after watching things on the TV tonight:

1. According to a UKIP candidate in south west Wales, immigration is a big thing with people in south west Wales.

He seems to have missed the fact that the majority of immigration into Wales is from a little country next door called England and not in fact from other countries.

2. Some English people are losing their sh*t over the fact that a non England based political party (SNP, Plaid Cymru or one of the Northern Ireland parties) might have some form of power in a coalition.

Yet the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish have always had England based political parties governing them. So, here's a crazy thought but, how about a change.

According to information supplied to the US Copyright Office by John Deere (makers of tractors) and GM all those tractors that farmers thought they paid for and owned don't in fact own them and in fact "..receive “an implied license for the life of the vehicle to operate the vehicle.”

Having grown up in a farming community and in fact living in one now, I can quite easily think what the response would be from any of the farmers if John Deere told them that they didn't own their tractors they'd paid for and it certainly wouldn't be polite.

Having had several conversations over the last few weeks regards voting in the General Election and how there's a strong likely hood of the next UK government being a coalition of 2 or more political parties, and therefore every vote counts, I'm just left standing (or in fact sitting as I type this) wondering WTF! as seemingly sane, intelligent human beings are saying that they are either going to not vote or are going to turn up to the polling station and when they step into the polling booth and rather than vote they are going to spoil their ballot paper.

I don't think people should be forced to vote or penalised for not voting but, nothing's going to change if people don't get off their backsides and vote.

All those politicians who vote spoilers and non voters think are slimy pieces of excrement are likely to get re-elected and things will stay the same.

Mind you Brooklyn's dad is +David Beckham , which kind of explains the high numbers.

Strange new attachment to the outside of the big green box at me adopted station.

A guess would be that, rather than relying on the timer switches (there's one inside the big green box for each light on the platform) which had to be altered at least twice a year by a human, the lights are now controlled by a system that uses a light sensor (possibly in conjunction with a timer) which is what this funny thing attached to the big green box is.

Next to the shelter there is a little green box (approx 1/2 to 1/3 the size of the big green box) that contains the computer bits for the Information screen on the platform.

I did attempt to test the light sensor theory by covering it with me jacket in order to try and get the lights to turn on but,  there was no success which is why I suspect a timer(s) may still be involved.

It would be nice if there were to be a 4th series but, I'm not sure how they would be able to do it. It seemed to me like a bit of a strange ending.

Either they should have come up with a race route that avoided the railway or arranged somehow with the railway company so such a situation as this didn't happen.

Had a surprise when I looked out the kitchen window about 20 min ago because I spotted a Jay pecking up bits off the ground under the feeders.

Only ever saw a couple of them when I was a kid growing up  on the other side of Aberystwyth but, that's the first one I've seen here in Talsarnau.

Annoyingly it flew off in the time it took for me to go get get my camera so, you'll have to make do with a pic from the RSPB.

Those of you following me just over 2 years ago might remember that I brought a spotting scope with attachment so, I  could use it as an extra powerful lens for my digital compact camera (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+JimWall/posts/7YsFyy9K6ko)

Well, as well as testing the camera on the mini tripod (https://plus.google.com/+JimWall/posts/JnAj9Uco3yj), I hooked up my digital camera to the spotting scope in the kitchen and looking out towards where the birds were feeding on the ground.

The birds kept moving around so, I didn't get many up close pics but, here's a couple of the less blurry/out of focus ones.

A bit of test footage from yesterday.

Was originally to see if I could get the camera (on a mini tripod) close to the birds feeding on the ground under the bird feeders.

But, also turned into a trial of the enhancement features in YouTube. It's surprising how washed out the colours in the video were and how the greens in particular now actually show up properly.

Both tests seem to have been a success so, I'll most probably do some more with the camera in different locations and will look at playing with the enhancements on some of my other YouTube videos.

GOOD NEWS: It would seem that I most probably wasn't suffering from unintentional self inflicted food poisoning on Thursday (https://plus.google.com/+JimWall/posts/7FYcp5MdtHf).

BAD NEWS: Whilst it seemed I'd beaten whatever happened on Thursday and was recovering and on the mend Friday and Saturday, whatever the stomach bug was has reared it's head again with 2 of the 3 main symptoms (fortunately only farting and eggy flavoured burps) this morning when I woke to go to the toilet for a piss.

Decided to stay awake in case the 3rd symptom rocks up but, seeing as the other 2 have calmed down in last 90 minutes. It might just be a last gasp attempt to survive by whatever the stomach bug is.

I'm currently enjoying reading +Chris Hadfield 's adventures in space in his book "An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth" which includes his time on the ISS.

Almost woke up a bit quicker than planned this morning.

I  fortunately completely missed it somehow whilst sleepily going down the stairs to go to the toilet and only noticed it by chance on my way back up the stairs (thought at first it was a bit of dirt that had come inside on the bottom of my boots).

Fortunately it's even sleepier than I was  and just seems to be very sleepily wandering up the stairs.

Not really in the mood for possibly getting stung but, think I'm going to have move it.

Just hope this isn't a scout from the bees that set up home in part of the roof at the end of last summer when they were looking for a winter home.

Presumably this has occurred ahead of the Spooks film (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3321300/) which is meant to be in cinemas on May 8th

Once more, parts of Snowdonia are going to feature in a Hollywood film.

Unfortunately it seems filming will be up around Tryfan and not further south near where I live but, It does say in  the report that this film it's planned to be the first in a series of 6 films so, there's plenty of chances that they'll come a bit further south in the future.

Would seem that whatever I had yesterday was an approx 24 hour type thing. :)

Which meant I was off bookshop sitting once more in Blaenau Ffestiniog today. Nothing major to report, was sunny, there was customers, someone set fire to something outside of Blaenau and the smoke and smell could be smelt and sort of seen in Blaenau (rumour on the bus back into Port was that a local steam railway may have accidentally set fire to some dry vegetation although nothing on BBC Wales News website).

Not sure what the birds were up to whilst I was away but, I assume it must have been one hell of a party because I got back to find that they'd finished off 1.5 peanut feeders and approx 2.5 seed feeders in approx 10 hours.
