Masonry Algorithms

Looking at the new G+ today I was suddenly reminded of this shot I took during the #photowalkbamberg  ...
There seems to be still room for improvement in the algorithms used to sort the posts, there are still big gaps between the tiles ... on the other side we use them in the new frontend we just develop for a museum as well and I know how tricky that is to realize ...

Canal Boat London

Photowalking in Bamberg ...

or coming out of the cold. Well, we had a great photowalk in the lovely German City of Bamberg, regardless of the temperatures which exactly to the weekend dropped way below spring time acceptable. So I decided to start with a spring like pic anyway.

Fifteen O's - are you ready for the weekend?

I'm sitting back in class with +Chrysta Rae and +Alan Shapiro is the teacher. Last weeks assignment was shooting O's ...
To cite the teacher: So lets make this week easy. We're up to "O" so lets reprise an old assignment I gave Chrysta a while ago: shoot circles, Round things, Things that remind you of "O"s. Now here's the fun part, I want at least 20. Ready? Go ...

So I produced 20 shots counting round things from 1-20. This number 15, one I was really pleased with. If you want have a look at the other 19 in that album.

Canal Boats in London

London boast a huge network of canals and rivers beside River Thames. The canal museum offers a glimpse in those times where cargo was shipped with horse pulled boats, later with steam boats on those canals. Stepping out of the back door you can have a look at a nice set of well preserved canal boats and feel a bit like in Venice (beside the weather).

This shot is actually a stitch of three shots vertical. The bridge crosses the front part of the museum on the second floor. More an experiment than something special but I like how it worked out.

Teacher is to blame folks - as I didn't get any time to procrastinate I had to take all shots today - don't know what that means to the work side of my work-life-balance ... :-)
As O's are abundant I started to find an O here, and two there, and wait three there ... so the idea of an increasing sequence was born. (Sorry I'm an engineer!)

Beside hosting the famous track 9 3/4 Kings Cross is always worth some photographic minutes! Unfortunately I didn't have too much time to explore every angle but still I like the results.

On watch amidst silliness

A rare second when I was able to shoot the Horse Guard on duty in the archway. I tried to say a thank you but was not sure if he was able to hear me - the hordes of silliness flooded in again, crowding around, taking snapshots and not a single one I saw having the manners to at least have a nod of gratitude. He was all professional however, maybe due to the fact that he knew it was only about a quarter of an hour until he was relieved for the guard duty change.
