Set II: Down with Disease, Ya Mar -> Prince Caspian > Maze -> Shafty -> Possum -> Jam -> Cavern

Encore: Bold As Love

Notes: This show included the debut of Shafty, which was then briefly teased by Mike and Trey in Possum. Disease, Maze, and Possum were unfinished. The funky jam in between Possum and Cavern featured some stage banter from Trey about the funk jams the band had been playing. This footage speaks volumes to the child like joy that must exist inside of music and inside of bands. Their curiosity for something new, continuing education, playing new instruments, and respect for the pioneers of the genre, gave Phish the credibility they needed to “pull off” bluegrass in front of thousands of reverent and loving fans. This is for those fans. The real fans. This is for all people who love and understand the civilizing power of music. This is to inspire thousands to hopefully upgrade their life by simply learning to play a musical instrument.

It was hot and humid on Tuesday June 20, 1995 – the night after the Summer Solstice - when Phish played their first headline show at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The venue was a wooden, natural parabolic amphitheater designed by Peter van Dijk and set inside the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Cleveland. Phish had played Blossom once before in 1992 opening for Santana but this time they sold more than half of the 18,000 tickets to the eleventh show of a 22-show summer tour...
