Another from Torside Resevoir. Messing around with HDR and trying to figure out some ways of getting a more natural image. Think this probably needs a little bit more TLC....but I have so many to edit that it'll probably stay as is. I'm interested in developing my blending techniques so if anyone knows any cool links...feel free to drop em in :D

I lost my father to cancer late last year. This was one of the last pictures I took of him while he was in reasonable health. I don't want to be too sombre but he is missed a HUGE amount.
If any of you out there happen to have your parents or children near you right now, why not give them a huge hug and a kiss this instant before the moment passes. Our time together is priceless. Make it count.

Here's a quick one for my very own +Candid Mood Tuesday theme. Taken on Saturday at Hollins Hall in prep for what looks set to be an amazing wedding. Themes mooted include Lord of the Rings and Queen Album covers....so watch this space, there could be some rather creative wedding photography cropping up in the near future.
I just love it when clients have a sense of adventure :D

I always do engagement shoots as part of my wedding photography package. It's a great way of getting to know the couple in a relaxed manor before their big day. You also get the opportunity to try new things out. In this case it was a couple of free presets I picked up from Totally Rad.
This one seems to help the laid back natural feel I was after :)

Wow - I really have got a bit out of the loop with my postings. I have been working a lot but family stuff really has been taking priority.
Anyway, enough of the excuses. Here's an image from a recent wedding I did for a fellow photographer (no pressure!) on their friends farm. I used a speed light, remote on the right through an umbrella and then had a little play in photoshop (can you tell). Great fun, as always...and some nice results :)

Had a fun hour with +Neil Carter and the kids. This was taken just before the hay fever kicked (theirs not mine!) and looks like a nice candid image for #candidmoodtuesday ....even though it was totally contrived!
Looking forward to arrival of my Nexus 7 tomorrow, so if all goes well I'll be hooking up to the Gooniverse on a shiny shiny new device :D

Ok so it's not #caturday just yet...but I'm out all day at a wedding tomorrow and just wanted to sneak this in; my crazy cool cat montage.
This is Teddy (looking kinda like Garfield at the front) and Dilly, who I featured last Saturday. The shot took about half an hour (seemed longer) to physically take and another hour to process. It would have been well worth the effort just for the Teddy's main pose at the front...still cracks me up...

Meet Dilly. This wonderful cat was one of two stars of a catty photoshoot that I did on Thursday.
This shot was taken during a quiet and very long minute when Dilly just stood and looked directly down the lens...without blinking. I swear she was looking deep into my soul!!

This is from an engagement shoot I did where the couple already had kids...and it kind of turned into a family portrait shoot.

Raining a lot over here in the UK, but on the plus side we're getting some nice rainbows to boot. Here's a rainbow I found the other day...it was actually a double rainbow, and I was like, OMG what does it mean?...a double rainbow oh WOW!!
Hopefully some of you will get the reference...the rest will have to assume that I'm slightly mad. I'm happy either way...I mean I saw a full double rainbow....
BTW I know this looks like a single rainbow....but you'll have to take my word for it...it was double, and it was full ;)

Been doing quite a lot of walking, trying to gear my self up for a bit of proper exercise...because I've only gone and put my name down for a half marathon...aaaaargghh!! Anyway, apart from making me feel totally out of shape, the exercise does have it's perks. Every now and again I stumble upon the odd view.

Taken maybe a minute after the image below. Black and white seems to work much better on this edit...and you get a better idea of scale here. Emley mast, bottom left is so big that it can be seen on the landscape for miles around, and it's so high that it often breaches the clouds....and yet here it is dwarfed by drama above...

Just driving home from a wedding on Saturday and just had to get out of the car and take some more pictures, the light was unbelievable...that takes a bit of doing when you've been clicking away for ten hours solid I can tell you! Worth it though.

This is the fourth time since joining G+ almost a year ago that I'm sharing my photographers circle. I shared it with 500 photographers, 1,000 photographers, 1,500 photographers and now 2,000 photographers. I have to break my circle up into four 500 photographer circles as that is the G+ limit. Each day this week (Mon.- Thurs.) I'll share a different circle. Today is the fourth circle and includes photographers with the last name's Ro-Z.

Yup it's been a while. Just got back from a break in Wales. Took my camera but not my PC, hence no G+ posts. We put our time to good use though and managed to hike up mount Snowdon in pretty extreme weather. Quite proud of that.
Anyway here's a totally unrelated picture that I shot last year - just stumbled across it whilst looking for some other images that we'd had earmarked to print :)

Europe calling: the old giant wakes up and calls on its peeps! Part II
According to the latest figures 426.9 million Europeans now use the Internet
There is a is feeling that it would be great to get some attention from G+ for Europe with official hangouts from the community managers during European times, feature roll-outs from Google no longer restricted to the US, and last but not least the desire to have hangouts and interaction without having to burn the midnight oil.
To help solve this and get Europeans together on the same page I created +Europeans on G+ It already has four managers out of the community but feel to offer a bit of your time if you want to contribute. Circle the page if you didn´t already do so.

Seeing as we're doing a bit of a tour of the Peak District at the moment, here's one from Broomhead Reservoir.
It's a pretty place and well worth the visit. This image is of the steep incline that joins Broomhead to the next reservoir, the name of which escapes me.
Best viewed with a black border :D
