"My First Magazine"

While mulling over my intention of reviving my oft-abandoned blog, I thought of checking the Play Store to see if the new version of Flipboard was out on Android. 

Serendipity. 

The new version was just released last night. 

My 1st Flipboard magazine, entitled "Life Unscripted", is an experiment on an alternative way of presenting my photographs, updating the people who are interested on what I did and do, and, maybe, sharing articles/blog posts that I will personally write. 

It is very fluid at the moment and I hope it evolves to something of value. 

The "1st issue" is now available. Subscription is FREE. :D Just fire up your Flipboard app (or download it on your mobile device if you don't have it yet), search for my name, and hit the 'subscribe' icon. ... more »

After the "pop heard around the world", the most talked about person in the NBA over the weekend was Kobe Bryant. 

People and pundits alike have been discussing the possible fact that that may be the last we've seen of The Black Mamba strutting his wares in the NBA. 

If ever that will be the case, I am quite lucky to have seen him up close and in action during his active playing days.

"Color Her World"

She would usually shy away from me each time I saw her, clam up when I try to talk to her. 

After our portrait session in her school, however, she has since opened up and is always ready for me and my camera with a smile...

And lots of stories to tell.

Happy was I when I got her to agree to smile, looking at the camera (as she normally would not want to).

"For Posterity"

It has been a yearly tradition for my Mother's side of the family to get together to observe Holy Week.  

Part of the tradition is our active participation in a procession around a small area of our town.  

This time, however, I will be putting an end to my personal participation and begin a new one with my own Family.  

No processions being planned on this first year.  

Just a simple, quiet, and solemn time of reflection among us five.

"Create"

I do not have a waterproof camera or a waterproof casing for my camera so I had no business being in the pool with the swimmers to capture the action and come up with exciting photographs. 

Shooting from the poolside was the best...nay...the ONLY bet for me. This troubled me a bit since I can only do so much given the limitations of vantage point, lens focal length (max telephoto reach yesterday was only 70mm), and bad weather at some point.

Fortunately, Limitation is the sister of Necessity... and Limitation forces one to be resourceful. 

And with a bit of Imagination, who happens to be the sister of Invention, a eureka moment can still be had.

"Moments Like This"

My lifelong project of documenting my Family's life and times has helped me a lot with my recently chosen profession. 

While a good portion of what I capture is intended to be a visual record of the what's, the where's, and the when's, I also try my best to document the how's ~ the 'how did they feel during that particular moment'.

Expressions and emotions, I believe, are very important to trigger that rush of nostalgia and make my Kids remember vividly that moment in time.

I've been out of Google+ for the most part as of late that I almost missed out on this improved feature...  

Now that Google+ has just made cover photos ginormously huge, it has given me, and most likely everyone, enough reason to be creative with it. 

Since I treat cover photos as a branding tool, I deemed it apt to start off with this image... best way to tell everyone which little space on earth I inhabit.

"Not So Fast..."

When you're working alone, trying to cover as much ground as possible amid fast disappearing moments, you are bound to make mistakes. 

One instance, you thought you got the shot, only to find out when you chimp on your camera's LCD that your shutter speed was a tad slow. 

Don't delete it just yet.

It may turn out to be a type of shot that grows on you.

One of my goals this year is to start working on personal projects, presented by way of photo essays. 

I have been exclusively posting photos on a 'stand alone' basis with the hope of visually telling a story, sometimes augmented by short write-ups about the photo.

I am praying and hoping to find the idea/s and time to do so.
