Because making custom Magic: The Gathering cards is fun.
Here's a community to share your creations (with some resources to help you get started, too).

Other cards I haven't shared yet. Mostly creatures, and mostly playing with fun mechanics.

Some "Prison" enchantments I've been working on. They're meant to significantly alter the way the game is played while they are in play, while providing no extra benefit for any one player. In other words, mostly for fun. :)

I'm looking to get into Magic: Online, but have so many physical cards I don't want to end up spending more on digital copies and fragment my collection.
I was curious if anyone had given the game a shot, and if so, is there any (reasonable) way to collect new cards in the game without buying new boosters?
I'm aware there is trading, but can someone (who may or may not be good at trading) actually trade from a starter deck or two into a legitimate collection without spending anything? Are there other ways of obtaining cards?

Chrome extension devs:
I see an actor I enjoy. I head to his IMDb page to see what else he has been in. I see many movies and have no idea how to rate them in order to determine what else to watch with that actor in it.
If only there was a movie rating scheme... oh wait, I'm on IMDb.
Why aren't movie ratings shown next to the movie titles in the filmography section? I'd use the balls out of an extension that put them there.

I'm looking for an explorer that doubles professionally as an author to discuss porting some story-planning tools to Glass.
If you're interested, let me know and we'll set up a (text or video) hangout and chat about it. Thanks :)

The Google Play Games services api is pretty darn cool.
I wish they'd dedicate more servers to it to limit the loading times for the dialogs though.

A list of games using the new Play Game Services, how much they cost, and how many achievements you can get in each.
Grabbing most of them now. Seems like a fun weekend.

This extension is awesome.
It puts numbers on webpages into perspective by adding in little notes on the page equating the number to something you're more likely able to relate to.
For example,
"The hurricane displaced over 100,000 people and cost an estimated $3 million in damages."
becomes
"The hurricane displaced over 100,000 people [≈ population of Aruba] and caused an estimated $3 million [≈ cost of 30-second Super Bowl advertisement] in damages."
and
"How do you like +Project Glass? I was accepted, and am mulling over whether it would be worth the flight out there and the $1,500 while I wait for my pickup notice."
becomes

This is awesome.
There is the NY Times app that already alerts you to news headlines and gives you the option to have synopses read aloud to you through the bone conduction speakers.
Mashable's new Velocity app does something similar, but instead of having a curated list of news headlines, it tries to predict when a story is about to go viral and then notifies you of it (and also will read aloud to you).

I would love to see coaching videos like this available on Google Glass to whisper in my ear what to do when I want to try out new builds. Being able to glance up and see a snapshot of what your game state should look like would be a nice touch too.

What made the Jeff Bliss speech significant? A smart phone that was recording in the classroom.
Put the damn recording devices in the classrooms and tell the teachers too fucking bad, if they don't like it.
The teachers that you want should be happy to be recorded.

Hey programmers, I've got a question for you.
I have a Rails app that lets users modify content in a database. Right now the DB updates after each action from a user.
However, I'd like to have the DB continuously updating in real-time (it reflects real-world data) regardless of whether a user is updating it at any given time or not.
I am not sure of the best way to implement this.
I'd rather not update by cronjob, as I plan on eventually going up to 60 updates/second. Should I have a secondary process (in addition to Rails) that handles the frequent database updates and listens for db modification messages to perform from a user? Should I build some kind of middleware into Rails to handle this? Something else?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I can go more into what I'm actually building if it would be helpful.

Hey developers,
I'm building a web-based game-thing that revolves primarily around a 0-player game style ("players" will be usually just be watching a prettily-formatted output of a relevant piece of the database). Long story short, I need a database that is constantly updating in the background in real-time to simulate the world.
What's the best way to continuously update a database (would like to plan for at most 60 updates/second right now) that is also being accessed (read-only) from a web app? A separate process to continuously run, simulate the world, and update the database? Should I build some kind of middlware into Rails? I'd rather not do a cronjob, due to the frequency I plan to update the DB.
Any thoughts/ideas?
