Here is a very high resolution panoramic image of Palouse Falls. Made up of 108 individual photos, each one 36 mp by itself, this is an HDR pano image from one of the overlooks in Palouse Falls State Park.
This gives you some feel for just how amazing this place really is.
Created using specialized software, if it was printed at 300 dpi, (standard photo resolution), it would be over 5 feet wide!

Palouse Falls State Park in eastern Washington.
This place is in a pretty remote area, but what an amazing sight!

My contribution to Earth Day - Rainier by Moonlight.
This is the shot I had in mind when I went out last night. It sort of worked, but the mountain is not nearly as bright as I'd like. Too much light pollution and the moon wasn't at the proper angle. I'll try again sometime, preferably someplace not so well lit.
I suspect the "stars" are lens flare from the bright lights. It amazes me how Seattle is supposedly so worried about the environment, banning plastic bags and worrying about dust from coal trains, but never gives any thought to the massive amount of light pollution the city generates.
A few simple changes, like adding reflectors and shades, can make a huge difference in light pollution.

Return to Panther Creek
One of the first waterfalls I visited up here in Oregon was at Panther Creek Falls with +Brian Matiash, +Varina Patel, +Jay Patel, +Michael Riffle and +Patricia Davidson. I was instantly taken in by this place ... a beautiful stream dropping off to a massive waterfall ... it is certainly a sight. So on
+David Daniels's last full day in Portland I decided to head out there with him and +Jeffrey Yen to squeeze in some last bits of waterfall goodness. Then, while we were there +Michael Riffle randomly happened to show up with his family! I thought that was pretty cool :)
I was also happy to have found a few compositions I didn't photograph on my previous trips out to the falls; it's definitely one of those places where there is a lot of potential for different types of photographs.

Pre-Dawn Over San Francisco
-San Francisco, California
Welcome to the new people who have put me into a circle in the past couple of weeks. Feel free to look around Google+ albums (including this one of the Golden Gate Bridge) to get an idea about what kind of pictures I like to take. As always, your comment/+1s and questions are always welcome :)
Last month was a good one for taking pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge from many of my favorite spots, including this one. On this particular morning, I was up here by myself for about 1/2 hour before other people began to show up and watch the show. I like to get places early when I can, because it often seems like I capture my favoriet images in the forst couple of frames :)

The Milky Way, A Meteor, And A Cabin Walk Into A Bar - Mt. Shasta, CA
On Saturday, +Joe Azure +Natalia Stone +Casey McCallister and +Eric Leslie drove up to Mount Shasta to look for a cool place to photograph the annual Lyrid Meteor Shower. We stumbled upon this awesome little spot, where we could easily photograph the Milky Way and Mt. Shasta in the same frame....but we had to wait until 3:50AM when the moon set. I took a number of exposures, but this one had the best meteor trail out of all of them. Another weekend of 40+ hours without sleep...but it was all worth it (Minus the curious horses knocking over our timelapse rigs at 3:00AM)
And yes, this is my very first photo of the Milky Way. What was I waiting for?
Thanks to +Chris MacAskill for lending me his 14mm f/2.8, which I used to capture this photo
And how is that homework coming +Toby Harr... more »

Photographers. I'm looking for the best approach to showing geo-tagged photos on a map. I know there are several options on services like Flickr, but what's the best one you've found?

Spring has sprung, and it's time to get out and get shooting! Join +Jake Johnson, +Jacob Lucas, and +Michael Riffle at the Seattle Center for the first +Seattle Photowalk of the year!
We'll meet at the International Fountain for a group photo at 3 PM, and from there walk around chatting and shooting the sights of the center--including the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, and the EMP. Afterwards (around 6ish) we can go out for food and drink, and the die hards can meet up at Kerry Park for sunset.
All skill levels are welcome! Come out and meet some of your fellow plussers, and put some faces to those +Names. :)

Anyone using the Kelby Training App for the iPad? If so, are you having any problems with it? Mine constantly starts and stops and stutters and breaks up. Always figured it was connection issues on my end, but now I have fiber and 20 Mbps download speeds. I can watch high res videos without a hitch. So I thought for sure I could finally enjoy Kelby as intended. Nope, same problems...
Anyone have suggestions or solutions?

A rocky river revisited... and revisited and revisited.
My back yard at sunset. Well, not exactly my yard but the Sandy river is a short stroll from my home. It's a nice safe place to be when the floods come.
As most of my friends know I take a lot of photos from this area. If I'm unable to leave home for an epic location during a sunset I just take the dogs to the river and salvage the day. :)
I hope that everyone is have a wonderful Saturday. :) #oregon #river #sandyriver #sunset #sunsetsaturday #welches #garyrandallphotography +Gary Randall
