Riding the B train to Brighton Beach, New York 2013
I have not been very active around here, but I have a good excuse, I spent last week in New York doing what I love the most, wandering around, meeting new people, new places and shooting shooting shooting.
I did things a bit differently this time, i shoot a lot with my medium format camera, i already have the results and i'm happy with them, but i'm still not sure on how to present them as it is completely different from what i usually do and present here.
For now i leave you with a picture i took on an awesome day where i decided to go explore Brighton Beach, Coney Island and Brooklyn.

I like the first plan in this shot, but the background is to messy for my own taste. In this one i also got the tones i was more or less expecting from the Fuji Neopan, the light was not so good in the days i shot with this film, so i will blame it on that for now.

Manifestation de sans-papiers, Paris 2013
I was walking around Bastille some weeks ago and stumbled into a manifestation, it was a good opportunity to test a lens that i picked some time ago, a Elmar-C 90mm, its weird for me to take pictures with a small tele but it was a fun experience, once again i'm happy with the results.

The Portuguese Colonial War (Portuguese: Guerra Colonial Portuguesa), also known in Portugal as the Overseas War (Guerra do Ultramar) or in the former colonies as the War of liberation (Guerra de Libertação), was fought between Portugal's military and the emerging nationalist movements in Portugal's African colonies between 1961 and 1974. The Portuguese regime was overthrown by a military coup in 1974, and the change in government brought the conflict to an end. The war was a decisive ideological struggle in Portuguese-speaking Africa and surrounding nations, and mainland Portugal.

this is Lisboa, Lisboa 2013
Maybe i got a bit nostalgic or something like that, but when i saw this scene i thought to myself "this is really Lisboa", the so beloved azulejos on the walls, that everyone loves but no one preserves, the signs of construction (or deconstruction), the clothes hanging outside, this permanently unfinished state.
Anyway i'm starting to believe that Tri-x is good medicine for nostalgy, its working quite well for me.

Now that the weather starts to be a bit better i feel again like exploring the city and finding places where i have never been. Here is a picture i took inside a garage i found close to Saint Lazare.
This one is part from the second film i have developed at home, this time i had no problems with water marks on the film. Next week i will try D-76 instead of Ultrafin Plus to see the results.

Metronome, Praha Czech Republic 2013
The metronome is a permanent reminder in the area to memorialize the Czech struggles under communism. Cutting a wide path, the hand of the red metronome is over 75 feet long and is easily visible from the city and bridges below. While the metronome itself symbolizes the long struggle against Soviet control, the location of the metronome is a symbol as well.

Galata stairs or a ode to the great one, Istanbul Turkey 2012
I had a layover in Istanbul on my way to Tel Aviv, so i decided to leave to the city center and try to catch some pictures during the 5 hours i spent there. In the end i took a bus to Taksim square and from there i wandered around ending in Galata bridge. On the way to Galata bridge i stumbled upon some stairs that were familiar to me, they were the stairs pictured by my good friend +Adde Adesokan in one of my favorite pictures from him, follow the link to see it http://goo.gl/LPu0o and go through the album.
I felt that the world is small, this is not true, the world is huge, but i'm glad that i wandered around and made it a bit smaller.

the fruit seller, Ramallah fruit market, Palestine 2013
Visiting Ramallah was one of the things i wanted to do the most in this trip. I was a bit anxious about visiting it, but in the end it ended up being one of the most pleasant places i have ever visited. Everyone was welcoming us, we went straight to the fruit market, it started raining like hell, but everyone kept on smiling and going on with their normal life. I was not expecting this to be honest, we hided from the rain in a shisha bar http://goo.gl/V6g5k and drank some mint tea and later we had some epic fog http://goo.gl/TMSYI as you can see in +Adde Adesokan stream. I also got shaved in there, but i leave that for another time.
