I've been active on Google+ since the invite-only days, and every day since I've looked forward to following these people.  You've got artists, scientists, photographers, down to earth coolest people, others who've gone out of their way to help, inspiring individuals, funniest and geekiest mix in here.

Many of them I've interacted with on hangouts and found them to be amazing people.  Some of them I've personally hung out with in real life and made the time worth it (NY HIRL, Vegas, Los Angeles, SF).

Today's newly announced Facebook Home is very intuitive and a great move for Facebook, but like most cases it's a risky asset for users.

Underneath the slick UI, there is a ton of information collected on how you use your phone, and with the pipelining of your SMS messaging through their messaging app it provides them even more opportunity to monitor your communication activity.

Some of the ways FB benefits with this data is their expansion on their mobile and platform marketshare with non-FB users.  They can use the information collected to innovate further and optimize their software so that you get the best experience-- however, the crevice that comes with this is your privacy.

#ifihadglass  I would develop a fun fitness / health assistant. It could do many things like communicate and track weight, display heart rate (via Bluetooth heart rate monitor), and even expand the possibility of capturing a time-lapse video of running outdoor trails and sharing those socially for others to discover.

Lost Camara -- UPDATE #2: The landmarks surrounding the patio in which several of the photos were taken from is very clear that we've pinpointed the exact location (thank you +Google Maps street view).  Thanks to +Brian Spencer St. John, he was kind enough to stop by the neighborhood and visit the house that we suspected as the owners of the missing camera.

Unfortunately, the landlord has verified that he's never seen the couple before -- nor know anything about a cruise or a wedding back in March -- despite solid evidence we gathered to be the right house in which the photos were taken.

Here's what we know so far:
1) Camera missing since March 22nd, 2012 on a Carnival Cruise -- photos include wedding / honeymoon / other important photos.

Lost Camera: UPDATE #1:  I used other pictures in the camera and found further evidence of the exact house the photo was taken.  It's a bit scary what you can find out with the internet these days, but I'm sure these guys would rather want their camera back -- especially with the kind of photos on there.  I will be writing to them and keeping you guys updated on what happens.  Stay tuned...

The camera unfortunately never got redeemed on "lost and found" from Carnival Cruise, which makes me believe either the owners never called in or Carnival gets overwhelmed with stuff like this.  Since then it's been sitting in one of my drawers, unused, and I have no use for it whatsoever.

Check this out, super set to JavaScript that brings the optional Static Typing, Classes, and Modules. Can be used in server side (with Node.js) and client side.

1) You start in JavaScript and you end in JavaScript, unlike Coffee Script and Dart.
2) It doesn't produce bloat of JS when compiled like how others do it.
3) You can use classes, types, modules for large code bases
4) You can use any library like Backbone.js, jQuery, Angular.js
5) Rich tooling experiences, auto complete, intellisence, there is a plugin for Visual Studio 2012 Express+ for it.

You can code in JavaScript like how you always have done, and just use some TypeScript when you want to, at the end, the code is optimized.

Although the points in this article are strikingly similar to the techniques introduced in "Subject to Change", I've seen UX designers make cool looking things, but completely miss the point in what makes a design usable.

If an innovative design has no connection to solving a problem from other familiar designs, it shouldn't be used :)

It's Time For Something Different

I hate the entire job search process.  Don't you? Putting together a resume that will get noticed is too difficult.  Searching through job banks takes too much time.  Putting your resume out on current job sites results in too much SPAM or worse bad job leads.  Because the best engineers usually have an OK job, this leads to inertia.  

You may think that this is just what it takes to find a job but that doesn't make any sense.  Ask any growing tech company and they will tell you they are desperate for the right talent.  If good engineering talent is in so much demand, why do engineers have to go through this tedious job search process?

It's amazing how websites and applications are so rich, and a lot of what makes them successful is the way they can present their interface to the user. This really taps into the creative-side of things, and even now with rich javascript libraries (i.e. +jQuery) I'm starting to see designers transform into programmers, and vice versa.

To the G+ community, I need your help!!

Today, my parents flew back from Texas after enjoying a week-long cruise vacation. At some point during this vacation, they've accidently picked up a camera thinking it was theirs, but only to find out that it belongs to what believes to be a newly married couple on their honeymoon! There are over 800+ pictures on there.

Cherished memories like these could never be replaced. I want to get this camera back to the original owners somehow, but I don't know the best way to start... how would you guys suggest I go about this?

My thoughts on "The new iPad"

We lost the incremental title. My craigslist searching just got that much harder for finding an original iPad for sale.

Underwhelmed? Probably a majority of you are. 2012: There's a lot to look forward to. What more are we looking forward to exactly? The new iPhone? The new Macbook Pro? Are we going to be touching everything this year beyond our HD standards? Is OS X going to find itself tied closer to the iPad in iOS 6? (or should I buy a Windows tablet instead because I know Microsoft can manage to pull it off?)

I'm not an Apple fan boy, but these guys have proven to the consumers that they know what they're doing.... whether it's pure marketing genius or actual quality products.

What do you guys predict their 2012 will be?

Many questions started to appear in my head once I heard that the Android Market is changing their name to +Google Play.

Few things I've noticed:
1) "Android" is no longer mentioned.
2) Books, Movies, and Music have been renamed to Play Books, Play Movies, Play Music

So why the branding? My predictions is this will not just be a market, but a service -- or perhaps a subscription model that may be coming up. If we're eliminating "Android Market", then it could be that this service will somehow expend further than just Android (currently, Music can be accessed outside Android).
