Samantha Villenave1,065,357+Art+Talk #17, an interview with +David Sandum, hosted by myself and +Max Rubenacker. Oh, and kids, I am really excited about this one. About David:David Sandum was born 1971 in Gothenburg Sweden. Today he resides in Moss Norway and has a studio at Gamle Pikeskolen (since 2003), where he also teaches several private students.David is self-taught, though he studied art history at the University of Utah. He see's himself mainly as a colorist - and expressionist. Feelings, energy, and emotions are very much key to his work. The people he paints are never real portraits, "but inner portraits." Scandinavian influences are Munch, Karsten, and Sparre. Other influences are The German Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider) movement (1911-1914) spearheaded by Kandinsky, and continental masters such as Gaugain, Van Gogh, Bonnard and Matisse.A quote by Matisse sums it up well: "I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me."http://www.davidsandum.com/https://fr.twitter.com/DavidSandumArtAbout  #twitterartexhibit  :“Through art we can change the world.”* #Twitterartexhibit  utilizes social media and public engagement to generate income for charities and nonprofit organizations. In the past, #Twitterartexhibit has generated funds for children’s books at a local library and resources for a Women’s shelter.• Artists worldwide contribute a postcard-sized, handmade original artwork to the #Twitterartexhibit  • #Twitterartexhibit   organizes a local, physical showcasing of the art.• The public is invited to buy the art at an affordable, flat price. • 100% of proceeds go to the charity.• It provides artists with new avenues, audiences and benefactors, and appeals to art enthusiasts all over the world. • It’s fun!Art+Talk interview with painter and Founder of #twitterartexhibit, David Sandum2012-11-11 20:00:0029

G+ with Brushes1,928As I am returning to my regular second-half-of-week shift on +G+ with Brushes , I once again re-share our artists' circle, now 93 people strong. This is the circle where we look for paintings and drawings to share. Please, if you are an artist working in traditional (non-digital) media, and you are not in this circle, and you do want your work to be occasionally re-shared on our page, do the following:1. Add the page to your circles, if you haven't already (it's not because we want to pump up our followers' numbers, but just because we cannot add to a circle anyone who hasn't added us first).2. Tell us that you are an artist and want to be in this circle, so that we don't miss you.3. That's it, basically, but if you feel like it, you might also spread the word about our page to your followers... :)Yours truly,+Lena Levin 2012-10-18 18:00:1293646
Maude McDonald15,490I am trying to do some "circle management" today.  If you are a painter, work with a pigment, and if you have added me but I have left you out of this circle, please let me know.I also have an "Artist" circle for non pigment artists (charcoal, pen/ink, sculpture or 3D art, etc).  I will share that soon.  Again, if you have circled me and I have not added you, please let me know on that posting.2012-09-30 21:23:31430336
G+ with Brushes1,642I am re-sharing our current version of "Artists" circle. Please, if you work in traditional media, have our page circled and would like your work to be shared here occasionally, mention this in the comments, so we might include you in the circle. It would make the work of searching for paintings and drawings to share so much easier for us! Thanks in advance,+Lena Levin 2012-08-21 23:40:52731235
Samantha Villenave225,079Got Art? - Part 4: Artists - D - E (by first name)Part 1: Artists - A: http://bit.ly/NDM6ifPart 2: Artists - B: http://bit.ly/PlfKbXPart 3: Artists - C: http://bit.ly/NoWtDTThe text below is copied from the original circle share part 1, because, no, people aren't going to click to read it, and haters will hate, so I must reiterate. Sorry! :)At nearly 1000, my art circle is bursting at the seams. It's too big to share on it's own anymore, so I thought I'd break it down into several smaller circles, to share over a period of days. These people fill my streams with visual imagery, sometimes beautiful, experimental, evocative... each one has a unique perspective and practice. Most of these people are painters, drawers, illustrators, sculptors, etc. (I generally keep my photogs in a separate circle, with a few exceptions, for good measure. So yes, this circle is a different beast.)The desire to connect with other artists is what brought me to G+, and it is a huge part of why I am still here.********************************************************************************A note about this circle, and my sharing it.Every time I share a circle, I get a backlash of anger from people that are not in it. Honestly, it is to the point that I rarely share circles. Please know that this circle is not all of the artists that you should be following here on Google+, it is simply the artists that I follow. I have chosen them for personal reasons, and enjoy following each of them. I am sharing them because I believe that you may also enjoy following them. This circle reflects my choices, of whom to follow, please be respectful of that. If you are an artist, and not in my circles, please feel free to say hi and let me know in the comments, so that I can mosey on over to your profile and see your work! #art #sharedcircles2012-08-16 11:09:049710111
Kelly Dombrowski4,341Time to share the art circle!  It's been quite a while :)  I am sure I have some to catch up with myself.2012-08-09 00:14:25435816
Marilyn Fenn9,388My Top 100Just sharing the top 100 people with whom I interact (or who interact with me; not sure which way it goes).  I left out pages, and oops - accidentally deleted some pages from my permanent mega circle.  Did I lose you?And should you be here?  ;)2012-07-24 02:30:531012008
Marilyn Fenn9,303Sharing one of my many artists circlesI haven't updated my "Painters Painting" circle in a verrrrry long time, but I'm sharing it now anyway.  If you are a traditional media painter who posts mostly (or at least ~50%) about painting (your paintings, other's paintings, whatever), and IF you're not in this circle, please let me know in the comments, so I can add you. Also, feel free to share this circle, and to add these folks to your circles.2012-07-09 21:20:56277629
Samantha Villenave48,038I'm in the mood to ponder art and artists, and thought I'd spread the love a bit by sharing my art circle with you. I know, it's a biggie, but each person in it is a gem. They fill my internet life with beauty and creativity, some for over a year now. If you're an artist, and see this post, please feel free to leave a comment so that I can hop on over to your profile and discover your work as well! #art2012-06-25 17:30:5947823313

It has been some time since I started this circle and I now feel that it's complete enough to share the "full" version for the first time.           ☼ Daily Fine Art Themes™               artists circle V 1.0         next version open for nominations !!Lately many circles have been shared by the photography community but artists have not been as active in "Sharing the G+ love." So +Daily Fine Art Themes in conjunction with the Fine Art Theme sponsors would like to share the love of art with you.Artists don't need to contribute to the Daily Fine Art Themes™ to be included but we hope that they will add the DFAT™ page and share their art with us. For more information about the Daily Fine Art Themes™ see the about section of the page.OK - let us know who should be in this circle of G+ artists for the next version ?Nominated names will be verified so artists suggested for the circle should be active on G+, their about page should discuss their art, and their stream should be oriented primarily towards art. Arbitrary rules:• If their stream has little or no original art, they are unlikely to be included• There is no set number of people that will be added before releasing another version• If there are animated gifs in their stream they won't be included, period.• Both 2D and 3D artists can be recommended for the circle.• It's easier to keep track of names if you put each name on a separate line• Let us know the genre of art and why you have nominated them.• Refrain from nominating yourself, but we'll probably look anyway. :-))OK, let's keep this circle moving along, "nominate" the artists that you think we should add, and most all let's share the G+ love.◊Collapse this post2012-02-16 12:46:01199894727

Waterscape Art Wednesday0Thank you everyone for the another successful and lovely Waterscape Art Wednesday. We had over 35 submissions, 32 were posted publicly and are shared in posts right here on your +Waterscape Art Wednesday page. Plus, 20 of the artists who participated have also circled this page and can be shared in the circle below. I also want to thank the many people who added a +1, comment and shared one of the posts from today's theme. Eventually I would like to create "the big circle" which includes everyone because without viewing and commenting on a body of work it feels pretty lonely to be posting. And "hello" to the over 400 people have circled this page. I tried to circle you all back but I think I must be over my limit for today and will try again in the morning. Next week will be our last week for the Waterscape Art Wedenday Theme until January 11, 2012. Wow! So lets make it a great wrap up week on December 14th! I look forward to seeing then.2011-12-08 07:00:1220020

This is wonderful.

beautiful interplay between the musicians.
so on point and hypnotic. more and more so the longer they play.
thus really worth it to watch the whole thing.

youtube channel "avroklassiek" from the netherlands has lots of other full concerts and separate pieces of classical music as well, most of them in 720p.

Brahms: Tweede pianokwartet op.26___This is wonderful.

For #LandscapeArtTuesday sponsored by +Christina Deubel

This en plein air painting was done during the same semester as the still lifes I posted this morning and yesterday.

I took advantage of the brief beautiful fall days in Chicago to head over to Grant Park during my studio class hours. Nothing spectacular--in fact, another goofy composition (what was I thinking?). Anyway, it sure is enjoyable to paint in the great outdoors, when it's not 100 degrees, or raining or cold, and you don't have mosquitoes biting you. This was a perfect day!

I was trying out painting on gessoed Masonite panels, which I found fairly challenging, as I had always used canvas before. The paints slides around a bit, and you have to paint thicker. You can see the texture of the gesso poking through the paint on this one, and maybe I had to hurry to get back for my next class; that... more »

Well said +Tim Grosvenor I couldn't agree more.

I hate the New Years Honours' list. When you look at it most people are 'honored' for doing what they do anyway. They get paid for doing something and then they get a gong for it. I can see that in certain cases where people work hard for charity as an extra activity there is some merit in the awards system but sports people who get rewarded amply in their profession to then get an honor for it seems ridiculous to me. I noted that one knighthood was given to the chief executive of a large pharmaceutical company who was given the honor for services to pharmaceuticals (I am sure he has already been amply rewarded for his job)! A dustman could equally well be awarded the honor for services to keeping our streets clean. At a time when the issue of social exclusion is so pertinent it seems bizarre to me that we maintain any faith in this ridiculous system. I fear that we have become blind to the fact that privilege and wealth are rewarded for their own sake. The cartel of the privileged is in my opinion stronger than it has ever been in my lifetime. The wealthy and famous are a part of the club that is backed by the political system.
My New Years Honours would go to all those who do not feature on the radar of the system. The hidden stars. The forgotten. Those who keep our society going with little reward. The rich, famous and privileged don't need these honors. They are already eating off the top table; do they really need an honor to re-enforce the privilege they already share in?___Well said +Tim Grosvenor I couldn't agree more.

Lovely to have your comment on this book +Lee Tracy

amazing so far (arrived a few days ago) and already i encourage the reading of it! not just a vision, but the inclusion of ideals, that seems to suggest concrete ways to get there (attitude.) "The gift society" rings home to human nature.___Lovely to have your comment on this book +Lee Tracy

I wrote a letter to my pal +Jack Olson, an artist who's sensibilities I admire and one that seems to understand my pursuits.
There is a little "be aware" message hidden in the letter. For 2012 I will be calling upon my inner brat to get some good things done.
Well wishes going out to all.
