Devastating tornado tore through Moore, OK earlier today.. described by KFOR-TV as worse than May 3, 1999. Latest report is 24 children lost their lives in an elementary school in Moore, OK. I am at a loss for words... This is about as tragic as a tornado can get. Our thoughts and prayers are with those that lost everything with this tragedy. 

Here is video of the tornado taken by the Basehunters showing how violent this tornado was. And this supercell spun up so fast the warning was not nearly as advanced as the more long-track May 3, 1999 supercell. Thank god for Jon Welsh and Chopper 4 and the rest of the chasers on the ground providing as much warning as possible for this tornado.

Well - this week has almost ended without me taking another new photo, this must change soon, but for the meantime, here is another creation of my past - revisited for 2013 - Enjoy

The reason I shoot glamour work started with working with local models that you might not take another look at in the normal day, transforming them into something even they do not recognize is the best part of the hobby for me.

No better compliment than hearing - "Is that me?"

Nothing wrong with an ego boost here and there... and there is nothing better than a compliment on your own work when you know you have worked hard to produce a good product.

I think I like the changes.. I am not sure I like the specific changes each time as much as I like Google's willingness to continue to innovate and change...

Let the complainers continue to complain - being uncomfortable is not a bad thing... so many think working and dealing with things, even day to day things that are outside of your comfort zone is bad... Really.. I love it... 

When I started shooting stuff like the below, I was afraid to even talk to girls...!

I fixed that issue.... stepping outside your comfort zone and trying new things is very important in day to day life...

Don't like the new multi-column view? Switch to single column!

If you don't like Google+ coming at you in two or three columns, you can easily switch to a single-column view. 

Go to your "Home" stream, click "More" and find at bottom the "Stream Layout" toggle.

Interesting new Heart Rate Monitoring Technology
Wear it on your wrist - no chest harness or other sensors needed.

Continuous heart rate monitoring is interesting for both understanding health better and also for tracking. This unit uses bluetooth to connect to a smart phone etc. (not all so be warned)

It senses the volume of blood under your skin... go figure..

Sadly none of these devices do it all.. One device that does BP, Heart Rate, BMI, and Pedometer all built into one would be a great solution.. but then you would have a tri-corder.

+Fitbit is a great solution for Steps, Stairs, and Calorie burned estimates
This device is interesting for HR tracking and knowledge
Sadly no BP device is available that is not bulky

Hmm +500px now offers Google+ login.... So I updated and logged in and now I have a new account.... So it might not be working quite right yet... And there needs to be a way to merge accounts etc... Does say it's in beta so hoping for updates that fix the bugs or add features...

Question for all - How do you deal with haze when its all you have to deal with?

We get haze here in the SF Bay Area all the time.. what are your methods for dealing with Haze and overcast?

Make it part of the shot?
Give up and go home?
Change it up and make it more interesting in post?

For those that only take photos of one person at a time - it is always more interesting and in some cases much more difficult to shoot two people together. THe issues range from them hating each other to them clicking perfectly. Direction in a shoot is much more fluid or way too hard to keep under control as everyone thinks they have a better idea and in turn nothing looks right.

My weekend tip... branch out and push yourself to shoot out of your comfort zone .... you might be very happy with what you get... or if you do hate it at least you have pushed yourself to better understand a in turn learn something....

Not all learning needs to be a positive experience...

Running Wordpress? Are you a photographer? You might want to take a look at this new release from Graph Paper Plus - I have not tried it yet and am not sure of the quality of the printers used but it does seem like a plug and play solution for wordpress that might be what some need to solve the issue of selling images...
