This is my most carefully curated circle yet, and includes some of the most interesting people who have joined my G+ community over the past two and a half years. This group of artists, business leaders, educators, engineers, futurists, programmers, and scientists represents the kind of collaborative core we'll need to solve the problems of this century. Not everyone could make in. This circle contains proven friends and new acquaintances.  There are representatives of every continent and dozens of professions. Those who know me are aware that I do not ask for conformity, just civility and good will.Thank you for being a part of this community. Welcome to my world, our world. Make yourself at home and... Smart people seem like crazy people to dumb people.

I think this effects most of the G+ demographic. Another of my favorites:

"Don't worry about other people stealing your ideas... If an idea is truly THAT good, you will need to ram it down people's throats!"

It all goes back to people with the ability to predict likely futures or understand complex scenarios, objectively, from all angles. Only a handful of us exist. Everyone else doesn't even realize the enormous effort that big changes require. They prefer to keep things as they are, until the actual product or innovation is in their hand or on TV.

- a "genius or gifted individual" has an IQ of 140+ and make up less than 1% of all people... probably uses G+. We communicate entirely different among ourselves... a lot of subtle, dry sarcasm and speculating about random hypothetical.

LIVING WELL IS THE BEST REVENGE

This used to cause stress and frustration, until I researched to see how all the people who made a huge impact on society had to fight for it every step of the way.

Steve Jobs was fired by the company he started!

Walt Disney went out of business 10 times before making it stick, the whole time being mocked for being a shitty animator whose lofty dream of building a giant theme park was laughed at.

"No one will pay to fly across country for an amusement park!"

"Building Epcot will lower your cash-flow to an extent that if any movie flops, he'd go bankrupt."

Fuck them... not that I have any disliking or elitist tendencies, but seeing through the bullshit, breaking tradition, and knowing that Humanity is a single organism, which adapts to great change, is what my THING is.

- Some people play in the NFL.
- Some people make porn.
- I help to shape the future, despite the immense frustration that it causes me.

Most types of people keep us safe and keep society running. A few, including myself, realize when an update is needed, and start our multi-decade plan to make our children's world better than our own. It's not a choice as much as a purpose; an obligation.

If I can see something others are missing, and know of a way to improve it, I'd be a pretty heartless bastard to ignore that to seek personal wealth or power.

Make it so...

ENGAGE!

Creative Leadership: Business of the Future

There are infinite potential correct methods, which drives most people crazy. As long as it solves the problem, it is valid. This all goes back to my strong belief in teaching HOW to think over WHAT to think.

Before, things pretty much stayed close to the same for decades, so learning the "tried and true" methods led to success.

Now the world changes daily, so learning more than basic methods is a waste of time. We must teach people to be capable of walking into fresh concepts and be able to quickly learn to master them.

Logic, consistency, and extreme memorization used to build legends in business... Now, it's creativity, adaptability, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.

After all: Why spend years learning things that you'll only remember 20% of, when you can look it up and learn it on the spot, as needed (learning by doing increases the retention rate from 20 to around 75%).

With the addition of technology, society is shifting to more opportunities for creative individuals, even in roles previously thought not a fit for them.

Riddle Me This?!

A man is trapped in a room.

The room has only two possible exits: two doors...

- Through the first door, there is a room constructed from magnifying glass. The blazing hot sun instantly fries anything or anyone that enters.

- Through the second door there is a fire-breathing dragon.

How does the man escape?

Globalization: The Final Frontier
[TRANSPORTATION]

It's safe to say that ten years from now that pretty good quality, instant, and global communication will not only be possible, but a normal part of life.

However, the one big question for us is what the next huge leap in long-distance transportation will come. My personal vision is ultra high speed intergalactic railways.

Although flight was a better invention and is more advanced, I just feel confident that if we concentrated the best minds on it, they could solve issues of high speeds, etc.

I realized that by a company combining:

- an outstanding "work / life balance."
- an unprecedented amount of flexibility.
- providing cross-functional, multi-disciplinary experiences.

These individual elements will combine to cultivate PASSION from the staff. So, although improving quality of life is the method, improving quality of performance is the actual goal.

Work / Life Balance

This relates primarily to topics discussed in the article. The old mentality used to be keep work and personal separate, but advances in technology have us "on call" pretty much 24/7. I think that the ideal work / life balance in the future is a flexible 4-5 day work week (decided upon by the specific project being worked on at the time).

Figure out your schedule amongst your team, like grown ups. You can plan on working at 1AM every day. All that matters?

Badass results sitting on the boss's desk by the deadline.

If you are incapable of cooperating with a small group of teammates to reach a schedule that works for everyone, you will eventually be weeded out from negative peer reviews. Especially because of the high level of trust being placed into the employees hands, they will take extra pride in churning out incredible work.

Total Flexibility

Senior management and up:

Full time commitment. These people are being payed more, but the importance of them being full-time is that these are the individuals who are responsible for developing the primary aspects of the business.

It is the CEO imagining a big picture vision of their brand or a specific product, the core team brainstorming, refining, and creating a strategy. The strategy divides a conceptual vision into actionable steps to completion. It is the department heads. These positions are STATIC (although travelling to various locations will be needed).

Project Level Employees (Most of the Employees):

Creating nearly absolute flexibility for the majority of roles, such as advertisers, designers, developers, project managers, product marketers, computer science engineers, etc, which requires an entirely new way to look at employment.

This is based on analyzing future trends, the psychology of what motivates Millennials, and what I would as an employee. Keep in mind, I'm envisioning 10-20 years off (unless someone gets proactive and starts altering their operations & hr systems sooner)  ...cough...

In order to create unprecedented flexibility, project-level employees (including those managers), once hired, trained, and ready, can choose what projects they would like to sign up for (based on what's available and the requirements), and employees can NOT sign up for any projects they do not want to.

(There may need to be a minimum number of projects worked for year, or certain other restrictions that really cannot be solved until this started to take shape).

OTHER POSSIBILITIES

- Employees may sign up for projects at ANY of the company's locations, if they were a match.

- A certain amount of company housing would be available at each location, and the cost of the place to stay could be a perk or partially paid for by employee.

- Airplane tickets could be discounted, since the company would purchase so many.

Millennials are not motivated by job security, huge salaries, or separating work and personal. They are motivated by flexibility, work / life balance, the ability to travel, being passionate about their profession.

BONUS: employees will increase their abilities, because they will acquire diverse experiences: travelling to different places, working with several groups of people.

Also, companies could provide opportunities to more capable applicants. They can have a little extra staff, if they only pay per project.

This has a societal benefit of creating more jobs.

BTW: It's pay per project. So, take half the year off, don't expect a full salary. The idea is that it's up to the employee:

If they want to hike Europe for 3 months, they can. The main point is that our new generation would prefer the extreme flexibility over an extreme salary.

PS: This is not one of my BIG projects.

g2020: Google in Five Years

My unofficial proposal to +Solve for X: A Five year plan to restructure Google, by integrating the amazing features from existing products, newly acquired products, and features still-in-development. Reimagining Google's vision for The Future, and setting in motion a plan to gradually transition the current array of products into an intuitive, simple, next generation communication, knowledge, and life tool.

Google has all the tools at its disposal. I do not have the technical knowledge to build those tools, ones like them, nor do I have any desire to duplicating what's already been created. g2020: Google in Five Years

However, one thing that Google should do, IMO, is to reimagine branding and the product lineup, by regrouping features based on how regular users utilize Google.

1. Strategically select which combination of existing and new features (acquiring outside products, making improvements to existing products, or inventing original ideas during this process).

2. Erase all existing notions of how Google's products are branded; Forget "how it used to be." Pretend to forget, lol!

3. Look at all the individual features at Google's disposal.

4. Reimagine Google's product line-up, based on what role / purpose each "product" executes for the user, and name the products based on that role.

TWO HYPOTHETICAL PRODUCT IDEA EXAMPLES (I have more...):

1. [g]NOW.

This replaces Google Search, integrating 'search by image,' and this particular product can lead the user to any other product, since it serves as the primary "Hub" for a user to communicate with Google.

It is called [g]NOW, because anything it handles needs to be done NOW. Things I want or need to know or do NOW:

- [Reactive - User to Google]: User inputs a command (vocal, touch, brainscan, etc) to Google.

- [Proactive - Google to User]: Google "knows" the user's current situation (location, contacts within proximity, time, weather conditions, traffic conditions, tasks to complete, interests, habits, etc, and automatically prompts the user with types of things the user likes or needs to be prompted about.

If you were to combine Google Search and Google Now, along with a better understanding of human behavior, that's where I see [g]NOW. It's (Search) "on-demand" information or (Now) "automatic" prompts based on extensive personal customization.

2. [g]DISCOVER

When we "google" or "search" for something, we actively have a curiosity or need to learn about a specific topic. However, we also "discover" content. What I mean by discovering content is that we set out to "discover information" by:

- Launching the +feedly app (to read any RSS feeds a user is subscribed to).
- Going to a specific website that hosts a variety or specific interests, such as +StumbleUpon +4shared
- Browsing the feeds of their social networks (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc) to see what their connections share.

[g]DISCOVER integrates aspects of Feedly, Google+, Google News, YouTube, or anything else that involves the "discovering" of cool content.

The user no longer subscribes to RSS feeds and reads them in #Feedly.

- By +1ing a general website, the user automatically subscribes (with lowest intensity) to that site's RSS feed in DISCOVER home.

- By +1ing specific content, it increases that site's intensity (likelihood of user seeing any content from that site), and it also increases the intensity of content (from other sources) that share the same topics of interest.

For Example: Plus1ing an article from Nasa.com about the future of space exploration, it will automatically increase the relevance of articles from Nasa.com and increase the relevance of articles about Space, Technology, The Future, and Aerospace.

MAYBE???The same thing but with other users???IDUNNO

You +1 them, if you see potential in them, and any additional plus 1 increases their relevance to you.

The primary idea is that managing content discovery and user discovery will be a thing of the past. No longer will the user need to waste hours configuring their feeds, the only thing that needs to be clear is:

USERS SHOULD PLUS 1 PEOPLE and Websites and ARTICLES and Subjects that they like.

Google will automatically customize the user's feed in Discover. They can filter by topic,  search the feeds manually, remove any sources that they do not want.

Oops!! they accidentally +1'd iliketowatchcreepyvideos.com. Although on the surface everything is automatic, intuitive, and congruent, users can still manually configure their settings, especially for situations like that, lol.

It Doesn't Matter How Brilliant an Idea is, if Nobody Understands it.

Nobody thinks in exactly the same manner as you, meaning multiple individuals can read the exact same material, yet visualize completely different ideas in their heads. So, to lead innovation, introduce change, or simply present a concept to people (your team, investors, etc), it can be immensely helpful to pair it with a stunning visualization.

Medical Malpractice Advice - Ovarian Cancer

Does anyone know a lot about --- or know someone who does know a lot about --- Medical Law? Specifically, knowledge on malpractice lawsuits...

My Mom was diagnosed in 1995 with endometriosis, and as a result, her doctor performed a complete hysterectomy. With endometriosis, sometimes doctors will try and leave one of the ovaries, if possible, since ovaries create all estrogen in women's body.

- no ovaries = no estrogen.

- No estrogen = the person has to take supplements for the rest of their life.

With my mom, however, the doctor said saving both ovaries was not possible. Therefore, he immediately started her on estrogen hormone replacement medication, which she's taken ever since.

Two years ago, her bloodwork came back as positive for Ovarian Cancer. She believed that the blood people made some kind of mistake... it's impossible to have ovarian cancer without ovaries.

The doctors took a look around inside to figure out what the deal way, and it turns out that, even though her doctor from 1995 was supposed to remove both ovaries, and medicated her accordingly, he did not remove one of her ovaries.

So, although the doctor had no malicious intention, as direct result of his negligence, my mom developed a terminal disease. A lot of these cases have a lot of grey area and room for interpretation. However, not in this case:

The doctor was paid to remove both ovaries, claimed he did, and medicated my mom in the way consistent with that (if he intentionally left an ovary in, he wouldn't have needed to prescribe estrogen supplements to her, since too much increases the likelihood of ovarian and breast cancer.

She, my dad, and I have no interest in the money... I'm in the process of starting a company and will have more than all of us could ever need, but that's not relevant, either. It's the point of the issue. As a result of his error, she is now going to die at a much younger age.

Something needs to be done, to lessen the chances of that happening to anyone else in the future.

Any help = amazing! Thanks,

Chris

YouTube Logo Suggestion

This picture is obviously a joke, since the comments for YouTube videos had a very spam-filled troll haven (It keeps improving). However, this joke picture caught my attention to something I hadn't noticed before.

Now, I know this is a subtle thing that 99.9% of the population wouldn't notice or care, except for perhaps whoever happens to be in charge of +YouTube (If I knew, I'd have sent a private message).

This is petty and small, but you should never stop chasing perfection, when it comes to design.

The You" and *Tube are, in my opinion, too far apart. It makes it look like the brand is "You Tube," instead of "YouTube." My suggestion is to have the red box surrounding "Tube" underlap slightly with the end of "You," to bring the two words closer together.

Experience Designing the Workplace

A hot topic in modern business, Customer Experience has an equally important cousin: Employee Experience.

What is Employee Experience?

Employee experience is using a blend of psychology, personality types, observable behavior, interests, mental and physical ability, styles of learning, game theory, and gamification to create a custom tailored workplace.

Everything that can be customized to increase a person or group’s effectiveness will be customized.

Christopher Nolan's Interstellar - Official Trailer

We've always defined ourselves by our ability to overcome the impossible, and we count these moments.

These moments: when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, or to make the unknown known. We counted these moments as our proudest achievements, but we've lost all that.

Perhaps, we've just forgotten that we are still pioneers and that we've barely begun. Our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us...

Batman VS Superman - [First Look] - Ben Affleck Wearing the New Batsuit Next to the New Batmobile

I'm not as upset --- about Affleck being cast to play my favorite superhero --- as I initially was. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, although it does concern me that Christopher Nolan didn't continue to serve as Executive Producer of all #Batman and #Superman projects.

It's unrealistic to expect someone so creative and talented to keep directing one franchise forever. At least with Man of Steel, he didn't direct the movie, but still oversaw the creative vision and have the final call.

Either Nolan wasn't keen on continuing to be involved, he had creative disagreements with Warner Bros, or WB cut him out to save $$$.

How do you feel about Affleck as the Caped Crusader?

... About Nolan's departure from the series?

In addition to Lex Luther, who has been confirmed to be played by Jesse Eisenberg (awesome casting!), do you expect any Bat villains? Who?

Glass Finds its First Professional Home

Google has had the #glassexplorers program, which allows individuals to purchase #Glass for personal use, but they have also donated pairs of +Google Glass to various industries and professions.

This was to see which industries found usage of the device beneficial, right out of the box. By "right out of the box," I mean using the product as it currently exists, which is essentially glasses with a built in camera and a display that projects an Augmented Reality menu to navigate (along with a few basic apps).

By "right out of the box," I mean using the product as it currently exists, which is essentially glasses with a built in camera and a display that projects an Augmented Reality menu to navigate (along with a few basic apps).

The Future of Glass

Possibilities are endless. Along with releasing the base models of #Glass, Google also released Glass's API. This means that, as we speak, developers from all over the world are testing out and building Apps made specifically for the device.

In general, it's mutually understood that eventually #Glass will be able to (at least):

1. Automatically identify objects and people, using facial recognition and object recognition (remember Google Googles?).

2. Determine which objects or people are relevant to the user.

3. Present useful data, relevant to the user, about the world around them, in an augmented overlay.

All of this will happen in real time, and only in ways that will help the user. It will be possible, but horrific, for #Glass to identify everything in view and present information about it. The idea is that #Glass will become smart enough to know when to present what info:

"Technology that's there when you need it, and invisible when you don't." This is my paraphrasing of Glass's original mission statement, and is the entire reason for its existence. The idea is that technology is awesome and helps us in so many ways, but has negatively affected our social behavior. We text and drive, text and walk, text and eat, surf and poop, google while having conversations, and are constantly looking down at a screen.

With glass, we're accepting that technology is too beneficial and enjoyable to eliminate from our lives. We're also accepting that our current set up is not an ideal one. We're smarter, more globally connected, and more productive, but at the expense of being less social (in real life) and less engaged in our surroundings.

Wearable Technology is Born to Bring us the Best of Both Worlds

With wearable tech devices, such as Glass, we do not have to choose either being immersed in technology or being engaged in the real world. We will be able to have our cake and eat it too. Getting to that point will take a bit of time, advancement of the technology, trial and error, and lots of tweaking (not twerking). However, it is a certainty, as all of the foundational building blocks are there.

Come back in a decade, and you'll see a different, improved society.

The Medical Industry has demonstrated the strongest immediate benefit of utilizing this new technology. The video/audio and communication capabilities of Glass are the primary functions being used, currently, but more uses will come...

Doctors Using Glass ~2024:

- A doctor, wearing #Glass, walks into a patients room.

- Glass automatically identifies the patient, using facial recognition.

- Glass pulls up the patient's medical records.

- Glass displays the most relevant aspects of the records in an augmented overlay being projected directly into the doctor's eye, so only he can see the info.

- The doctor says, "OK Glass, let's do a physical exam."

- Glass opens up a medical app for performing physicals on patients.

- The questions that the doctor needs to ask the patient pop up in his display.

- As he asks the questions, Glass records the patient's responses, converting speech to text, filling out the exam.

- After the questions are complete, Glass displays the next steps for the doctor (i.e. Check blood pressure, heart rate, reflexes, temperature, earcheck, throat check, etc.).

- In real time, the Medical app is not only filling out the forms automatically, it is trained to spot certain patterns.

- This advanced pattern recognition compares live, incoming data, the patient's history, and a database of medical knowledge, #Glass pops up a recommended diagnosis of the patient.

Yes, I know exactly what I'm implying. This gadget, considered a high tech, $1,500 novelty toy by the mainstream, could essentially replace doctors (as we know them, now). I don't think doctors will be eliminated, by any means, but I do see a future where Medical school is 2 - 4 years, of schooling plus another 2 - 4 years of hands on training.

Google Glass will be the Calculators of the Medical Industry (and several other industries):

You can do complicated math problems, manually, but why would you waste the time? Do it quick on the calculator, reduce time and errors, and then spend the extra time doing something actually beneficial.

Same as the future of medicine. Keep doctors, but will it be necessary for that much schooling, memorizing hoards of information, to make a diagnosis that a device can do faster and more accurately?

Doctors of the Future -  - Learn the basics of the industry.
- Become a master of the tools.
- Reduce education expense and time.
- Improve ability to diagnose complex illnesses (Some illnesses may be so complex that they currently cannot be discovered).

Also, utilize the exponentially increased productivity to:

- Personalize treatment.
- Invest more in research.
- Provide medical care in places of the world with a shortage of doctors.

#BuildaBetterPlus

Google+ Profile Enhancement:

- Include interests on the main profile page.

- Allow users to select interests they are interested in.

- The interest graph adjusts the strength of each topic, based on what posts the user +1's and reshares.

This allows users to glance at different profiles and get an idea of if they want to circle the person.

We live in an attention-starved society, so although it'd be nice to read a well thought-out essay describing every aspect of themselves in detail, but the harsh reality is that nobody on the planet wants to read that.

They want:

1. An attractive profile photo.
2. A catchy tag line.
