Art BySilent Studio11,827Since Google limits profiles/pages to just 5000 I am limited to the number of circles that I may be able to create. This is the recycling of the seventh Circle of Artists, art pages & Art Lovers that followed this page (new people have been added to compensate for attrition). I will continue to find ways to promote those that follow this page. I have thought about creating a community which at this time has no limitations in sharing the members of the community. If you go to the profile section of this page you'll find two communities one strictly geared for Digital Artists the other is open to all genres of art. I enjoyed sharing art created by others as well as sharing my own may I suggest that joining the communities either both or one that fits your own point of view that way sharing instead of 5000 broken down into circles less than 500 I can share the communities which at this time have no limit. It's your choice and I thank you for support and you have shown for the art that I have shared including my own.Let me know if you would want me to create a community for this page (personally I think the two communities that have already been set up will do the job nicely without adding an additional community)The short links to the two communities are:http://goo.gl/qoVdqhttp://goo.gl/88LzN2013-03-08 21:31:21442216

Christina Trapolino54,573#CircleSunday  November 18, 2012It's been several months since I last shared this Circle with you guys, but I'm really glad to be starting it up again.  I have been taking your suggestions into consideration, but this week I'm sharing three people with you who have been on my radar for some time:---+Isabelle Fortin is someone I found through a neat hashtag event called #MovieMashupTuesday .  The idea...well, you can find it by clicking on the hashtag.  Some of the images they come up with make me laugh out loud... IRL.  ;)  Isabelle's stream is also just plain interesting -- she is a self-confessed foodie (and so am I), and one of the few people whose Instagram posts don't annoy me.  I'm certain she'll add some quirky fun to your streams.I've been following +Ralph Roberts for quite some time -- he worked with NASA on the Apollo program (*dreamy sigh*), so you can take posts with titles such as "Does chocolate make you clever?" very seriously in his stream.  Furthermore, ever since I got an iPad, I've found Ralph's posts to consistently liven up my feeds with beautiful images.  If you're from Austin and you know who John Aielli is, you might understand why I freakin' love Ralph Roberts.Last but not least is +Chris Hoeller, who has been in my Circles for a very long time.  His posts are sometimes a lot like reading a Twitter feed -- short and funny -- but he also makes incredibly thought-provoking posts about technology and social media.  I suspect that if you enjoy my posts on the subject of communication, you'll like Chris a lot.---That's it for this week! Please feel free to recommend yourself or others for a #CircleSunday   feature by using the "Send an email" button on my profile or sending a tweet to @cmtrapolino-- make sure you include a link to the profile you're recommending, as some names are not unique.Happy Plussing, everyone!2012-11-19 03:11:2212014227

Christina Trapolino48,549July 15, 2012 #CircleSunday  It has been storming for almost a whole week in Austin!  Those of us who remember the wicked drought from last year (I wasn't a resident then, but a visitor several times) are grateful beyond words for the lower temperatures and the higher water levels in the lakes.  I am especially grateful for the storms because I can actually get more than 4 hours of sleep when it's raining.Stormy Sundays are probably the best thing ever (apart from brunch), and I've spent most of today browsing G+ and adding new folks to my 'potential Circle Sunday' list.  Here are the pleeps I've chosen for this week:---+Lil Peck has a slight obsession with horses.  I don't share that obsession (although I do like horses, and spent many summers as a little girl learning to ride them), but Lil Peck's Stream is just so dang interesting that I read it obsessively, anyway.  My favorite content of hers is tech-related -- especially when it's Google+ related.  Her latest post is an example of this (it's about how to make sure your Stream is drama-free): http://bit.ly/NvrXZV+Rachelle Doorley is an arts educator.  She also publishes something called Tinkerlab, which is actually pretty fascinating even if you're not a DIYer.  Speaking of DIY, my favorite part of Rachelle's profile is her suggestion of which Circles to add her to.  She lists DIY twice!  Whether it's intentional or not, I got a chuckle out of it because that's actually a fair analysis of her content: it's a lot of DIY/crafts stuff.  That said, I keep her in my "awesome A-list" Circle because her posts are fresh and unique.  Check out her latest post here: http://bit.ly/NJMquE+Jonathan Abbey is a testament to the power of the Nearby Stream.  By that, I mean that I found him through the first version of the mobile app for G+ -- he was posting from near my location, and I added him on a whim.  Several months later, and he's still on my read list!  He posts a lot of political stuff (fair warning if you like Romney -- Johnathan's Stream is unforgiving), but he's not preachy.  Talk about a rare find.  Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/NqjhFk---That's it for this week! Please feel free to recommend yourself or others for a #CircleSunday   feature by using the "Send an email" button on my profile or sending a tweet to @cmtrapolino-- make sure you include a link to the profile you're recommending, as some names are not unique.Happy Plussing, everyone!2012-07-16 01:21:3911718125

Christina Trapolino47,824July 1, 2012 #CircleSunday In a few days, it'll be my one year anniversary on Google+, but the platform itself celebrated its birthday this past week.  As a result, lots of people posted fantastic stories about their time here (check the #MyFirstPost  hashtag to peruse the Stream of posts), and I made a lot of new friends.  All three of my Circle Sunday recommendations below are a direct result of that.  I hope they bring something fresh to your Streams, as they have mine.  :)---+Mark Bruce is a regular #ScienceSunday  contributor who came to me via a shared Circle this past week.  If you're looking to beef up your science Circles, you can file Mark under awesome.  He hails from Adelaide in South Australia, which is where I went to some university a few years back.  It's a great, albeit quiet little town full of smart folks like Mark, IIRC.  Extra cool points awarded due to his self-proclaimed enthusiasm for transhumanism.  Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/LJ9YLLI have never recommended a Page in my Circle Sundays, but that's changing this week.  I stumbled across a Googler's new yoga page -- +Quantum Yoga -- during my Stream surfing this week and fell in love.  I want to get into yoga, but I've had some trouble making time for it.  +Brandon Seils' Page is helping me to increase my interest in the practice by highlighting its geeky side.  Maybe my next step will be to find a good yoga Hangout!  Check out the Page's latest post here: http://bit.ly/MNqKNf+Ivan Yudhi is more proof that commenting thoughtfully will get you noticed and Circled by people with common interests.  I found Ivan while hopping around several I/O conversations.  He posts a lot about sports as well as different smartphones and their creators (and other tech, in general).  His profile indicates he's into photography, and while I don't see a lot of his photos in his Stream, I'm hoping he'll take some pictures soon and share them!  Check out Ivan's latest post here: http://bit.ly/LYLBek---That's it for this week! Christina Trapolino47,287June 17, 2012 #CircleSunday Hello again, Google+!This month has been tremendous for me -- as I continue to search for cultural clues that prove my hypothesis that society is evolving its use of social media, I've learned a great deal about the relationship between brands and bloggers (or, as I like to call them, citizen journalists).  More on this later in the week, when I share my takeaways from the Blog Her Food '12 conference in Seattle. For today, I'm very pleased to share these fine folks with y'all for Circle Sunday!---First up is +John Maguire, who is a clinical researcher at the University of Kansas. John livens up my Stream with fantastic posts about all sorts of topics (seriously, they range from sports to outer space), but my favorite thing about him comes from his profile: "Being green is [sic] doesn't have to reflect one's political status, rather learning how [to] better our way of living and sustaining a better place to live for future generations." Hear, hear! Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/MzMHzrI have well over 500 photographers in my Circles, and they are all super talented.  They certainly remind me that my Instagram account is strictly amateur.  Many of them have enormous followings, but some have been less exposed than others.  Case in point?  +Rainer Steinke is a street photographer whose taste and style are, in my opinion, spectacular. This is my favorite of his recent posts: http://bit.ly/MXbUkM+Kyle Sullivan is an exobiology major (bonus nerd points) whose posts are endlessly interesting.  I like Kyle's Stream so much because he mixes NASA information with a quirky sense of humor (he initially caught my attention when I saw some re-shares of his #AwayTeamPorn posts -- y'all know how I feel about Star Trek).  Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/M5sdws---That's it for this week! Christina Trapolino46,899June 3, 2012 #CircleSunday  Hello again, Google+!  I've been a very busy girl for the past couple of weeks, but I've still been surfing my Streams and looking out for great people to feature for Circle Sunday.  Today, I'd like to share the latest three additions to my #CircleSunday  Circle:---+David Garcia has been in my Circles for a long time, and I've been meaning to feature him for much of that time.  His posts are uplifting and his message is something we can all relate to from time to time.  David has a blog called, "Keep it up, David!" and it's about his battle with losing weight.  He's doing a great job, which is nice to see, but what makes his approach really special is that he doesn't focus on weight all the time.  Rather, he chooses to highlight great things to eat for their taste and nutritional value, which makes his content engaging for anyone -- trying to lose weight or not.  Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/LrbDGU+Gunther Cox only has about 1,100 followers and I have no idea why he doesn't have way more than that, so I'm hoping this feature will help spread his content to a larger audience.  Gunther posts about what is probably the coolest thing ever -- robots.  He makes them and posts about them!  Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/Le1mBLI'd like to let +Jonathan Chalker's profile speak for itself (boy, I love when people really take the time to fill that sucker out): "I am a proud first generation G+ user. In G+ I write articles about science, technology, music, design (web and product), philosophy, media, and customer service in the digital world. I also follow quite a few people, read most of their posts, and actively comment (yay, me)."  He really is an interesting guy to follow! Check out his latest post here: http://bit.ly/KZtWV6---That's it for this week! Please feel free to recommend yourself or others for a #CircleSunday   feature by using the "Send an email" button on my profile or sending a tweet to @cmtrapolino-- make sure you include a link to the profile you're recommending, as some names are not unique.Happy Plussing, everyone!2012-06-04 00:43:5110912025

Chris Lion6,744Hey folks, this is my RANDOM-CIRCLE.or my GIVE IT A CHANCE - Circle!!! ;)it includes a random selection of people and i don't know what they'll post, and i don't even know why it includes exactly 442 people, but i believe that every Google+ User deserves to be circled. Scot Duke2,583Share My Circle The Best of G+It's time again to help out the Newbies to G+ by giving them a leg up on finding the people in G+ who are interactive, responsive and down right COOL!I hear there are a few million more here since my last so I am sure they are probably sitting there scratching their head with a look of confusion on what is going on. I remember when I got here, that was my thoughts. Wish there had been someone then sharing quality Circles. So here is my Inter-circle of real live people. If you are not in this circle here might be why.To be placed in my most cherished circle of friends you have had to: -Be someone I know personally-Have at least made one comment made to any of my posts, -Have a nice headshot photo,-Have a full profile-Make a number of original posts-Understand how social networking works.Sounds simple doesn't it! Well it is and how you should look to building your own circle. Here is your start. If your current circles are not producing the interaction you are looking for you might need to flush them and start over with this one.Warning: If you load this circle into your account to start spamming these people I can only warn you these people are well trained at using the Block for Spam button. Plus, there are a few people from G+ hidden in this circle who are very proud of their creation and I have actually witnessed them removing Knuckleheads like a bouncer at a bar.Have fun socializing..it will pay off ten times more than just gawking or becoming a Knucklehead.2012-03-20 12:07:3131326715

Some pretty big things happening for me and Jessica. I am taking on a new executive role at Purchasing Power LLC in Atlanta. I start on Feb 3. Jess and I have already found a house there and will close on it toward the end of February. We're keeping our house in St. Pete and will be renting it out. Jess will stay back close to a month and I'll travel back and forth a bit until we can move our stuff into the new house. Jess already has solid leads on OT work in Atl as well. Sort of a steam train of events. :)

This is 1.7 seconds of a 3 minute animated short film I am currently creating. This 1.7 seconds is at least 14 hours of work, which was done over two weeks in my "spare" time, mostly after 10PM. Each frame is hand drawn (albeit drawn digitally).

Animation is a tedious and nearly masochistic pursuit. The documentary film, The Thief Who Never Gave Up about legendary animator Richard Williams (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) begins as such:

Once upon a time, there was a young Canadian animator who had an idea to make a 90 minute animated feature film based on the art and folklore of the Middle East. Today, 14 years later, after spending one and a half million pounds, the animator still has 80 minutes of film to finish and 10 million pounds to find

I was reminiscing today about a tour I saw back the early naughts with David Bowie and Busta Rhymes, called Area2. There was also Moby and Blue Man Group but I remember distinctly that Bowie stole the show and that Moby bored the crap out of me. I was also thoroughly impressed with +Busta Rhymes  even though I wasn't into much rap of that time period. Busta's style was really fresh in that the lyrics flowed together so seamlessly that it was hard to tell where one word became another. Today I was thinking that I pretty much know what Bowie is up to because I keep track but it seemed to me that Busta had fallen off the face of the earth, so I wanted to check in and see what he's got going on. I played the video linked here and in the first short segment I was disappointed because I thought it sounded like a lot of the newer laid back stuff ...all "click pow", which is pretty unoriginal but then not too far into it, Busta takes off as only Busta can. After that Eminem brings his classic self shunning the copycats and extolling himself as the real thing. It's a lot of fun. Check it out.___

I just hit several of 2014's top indie music artists lists and it is encouraging to me how many of those new releases bear strong similarities to +LowHero.DLL (consider I haven't released anything in at least a year while I've been focused on animation work). I keep expecting synth-oriented indie pop to fade away completely in favor of a a purist folk pendulum swing (really, every dude in Atlanta looks like a lumber jack or character on Boardwalk Empire) but instead all the neo-folk artists keep adding more and more synth to their sounds.

I'm back

I've been monitoring G+ via mobile during my move to Atlanta but for the most part, I've been out of commission for a few months. It's just been 100% occupation between the new job and moving into the new house. Today I feel like I am finally getting situated, having set up my studio and media workstation. Most of my social media engagement tends to come during downtime from media projects and I should be participating more now that I am getting settled.

Film Preservation Effort #filmpreservation

Hi everyone, I would really like to hi-light this special opportunity to truly geek out by pre-ordering a rare film on Blu-ray dvd that has been in the can for more than 10 years and on the verge of being forgotten.

In 1999, we set out to make a real film, shot in 35 mm (yes, before youtube and the digital imaging revolution) that captured a time, a place and a theme in a way not quite done before.

Sleeping Pills is a showcase of +M Lauter's talent as a cinematographer and visionary. I have come to appreciate the sub-plot so much more than the surface story. Like the band or not, I almost feel like Arcade Fire had some psychic connection with this film when they released The Suburbs as a reflection of the fast-disappearing environment of their 70's and 80's childhoods. Hi everyone, I would really like to hi-light this special opportunity to truly geek out by pre-ordering a rare film on Blu-ray dvd that has been in the can for more than 10 years and on the verge of being forgotten.

Sprawling shopping malls and strip malls are quintessential symbols of our generation. These modern castles of commerce are now as disposable as plastic microwave dinner trays. More than this, this cycle of build, destroy, and replace is accelerating. Not only are nearly all the shooting locations for Sleeping Pills gone, but last time I was in Denver, a mall that was the grand new thing being constructed the same year we filmed is already dead in favor of another shiny new thing and will surely be gone within another 5 years.

Please consider supporting this campaign to release a new and improved edit of Sleeping Pills by pre-ordering a $25 Blu-ray DVD. If you're from the Denver area, go for the nostalgia. If you favor visual storytelling over thick dialog or action-packed special effects, you might also get into it.

This is totally excellent. A Twitter chatbot that finds people making unsound/stupid anti-science (anti-global warming, etc) arguments, and then automatically replies back with suitable, correct sciency arguments.

In a way, what Leck has created is a pro-active search engine: it answers twitter users who aren’t even aware of their own ignorance.

This '98 Pavillon Rouge / Chateau Margaux was fantastic. Jess and I had it in the "cellar" since 2001 (actually a wine fridge since we're in FL). It was mature and we didn't want to take a chance at it turning, but upon tasting it still had some youthful qualities and I think it probably could have stored for another 5+ years. It has a bright red cherry forward, tannic mid-section, and a long peppery finish. Very well balanced with good body while still having that Bordeaux subtlety.

Orson Welles, Citizen Kane and a Universe of Superheroes

When I see a photo like this, I'm reminded of the days of Old Hollywood, when a risk-taker could take on a project like this. When they poured their entire existence behind the films they believed in. I think of the greats of the 60s and 70s, and I remember when Hollywood revolved around more than the visions of Disney, the dancing numbers in the heads of the studios bean counters, and the machinations of Marvel. Film making was so much more than a thousand CGI artists and the computing power of a Cray and days when a box office take of $200m could be considered a failure.

I'm wistful for films that go beyond the superheroes and sure bets of teen vampires and games of hunger. Maybe we'll never see another director like Welles, but I'd take someone who had 1/10 of his guts when they make their films. So much... more »

My wife and I use Airbnb at least 60% of the time we travel. As I type this, I am enjoying the pool and waterfall at a host property in New Orleans for my anniversary.

The gentleman this article is about - Tim - is a neighbor of mine. He's so low key, I wouldn't have realized he has such a high profile in both sports journalism and new media. Though I am not a huge fan of animated gifs, it's a really interesting article about a really interesting guy and I can now at least understand the utility and practicality of gifs for getting these bizarre moments out to the world at light speed.

I just submitted my second graphic to Minted for their most recent framed art design challenge. I think I am starting to get the hang of Minted in that it seems artwork that is a little more ambiguous and suited to decorative purposes does a bit better in the voting process.

Hack this Car

I am not super-crazy about the aesthetics of the finished out-of-the-box version of this build it in an hour car kit. I do think it is pretty astonishing how functional it is for such a low price and assembly and I think it would make a great platform for hacking out more specialized and stylish custom vehicles.

Is This the Last Smartphone You’ll Ever Need? ... SmithsonianMag - "Dutch designer Dave Hakkens has a novel idea for a smartphone that can change your life. Yeah, we’ve all heard these kinds of proclamations before, but what really sets his device apart is that it has the potential to be the last one you’ll ever need.

The phone doesn’t tout any radically futuristic features or even specs that are vastly superior to anything else already out on the market. The secret sauce is in the way that Hakkens re-imagines the phone—each important functional component is a separate modular block that can be added to or removed from the device. By allowing the various parts, such as the speakers, camera and processor to be easily swappable, owners can upgrade different features of their phone individually without ever having to purchase a new one. By allowing the various parts, such as the speakers, camera and processor to be easily swappable, owners can upgrade different features of their phone individually without ever having to purchase a new one. In essence, Hakken’s Phonebloks was conceived to be future-proof.

Hakkens came up with Phonebloks as a way to cut down on the ever-rising pile of non-biodegradable phones and other electronic products consumers are habitually discarding in favor of newer versions. Globally, the problem is referred to as e-waste and statistics complied by the Earth Day Network, a consortium of environment NGOs and activists, show that Americans generate about 50 million tons of e-waste each year and 75 percent of the junk sits in landfills. ..."

This is incredible stuff. This technology should be able to scale really well and I am sure you can imagine all sorts of ways this could be used. That said, I am sure the self assembly idea will scare some people.

Small cubes with no exterior moving parts can propel themselves forward, jump on top of each other, and snap together to form arbitrary shapes.
Known as M-Blocks, the robots are cubes with no external moving parts. Nonetheless, they’re able to climb over and around one another, leap through the air, roll across the ground, and even move while suspended upside down from metallic surfaces.

Inside each M-Block is a flywheel that can reach speeds of 20,000 revolutions per minute; when the flywheel is braked, it imparts its angular momentum to the cube. On each edge of an M-Block, and on every face, are cleverly arranged permanent magnets that allow any two cubes to attach to each other.

Why don't tripods have 4 legs?

I was having a short conversation with someone about the differences between quadcopters and tricopters and at some point I was thinking about stability because it is obvious to anyone who has sat on a 3-legged stool or driven a car with 3 wheels that 4 appendages is more stable than 3 (a disadvantage that doesn't necessarily extend to copters). But then, I started thinking about tripods and the expensive, sometimes heavy equipment we entrust to them and actually thought these words:

Why don't tripods have 4 legs?

An absurd phrase no doubt but as I tried to think of better ways to say what I meant, it became almost more convoluted.

Go ahead. Laugh at me and tell me I don't get it. Tell me how close to a half billion users can't possibly be wrong. Call me a hater and neophyte but I just don't on any level enjoy Twitter.

As a consumer of media, Twitter makes me loath the brands I used to love. As a social networker, twitter makes me utterly not care about the stuff my once-respected colleagues babble.

I've been on Twitter for several years and I haven't been able to bring myself to follow more than 100 entities simultaneously. I have followed several hundred and un-followed nearly as many. I think I am following 75 or something like that now and I still feel like it is too much of nothing. I never look at my feed and think, hello baby!

I think I am following 75 or something like that now and I still feel like it is too much of nothing. I never look at my feed and think, hello baby!

I don't tweet much myself and some are going to say that's why I am not having a good experience. That if I was a blogger, a foodie, a consultant, a philosopher, or just plain more clever and prolific, I'd be enlightened. That if I liked ... wait ... favorited and re-tweeted more tweets, people would engage me and I'd be part of the community. I still don't understand why I would favorite something that isn't actually my favorite thing? And how engaging are these people really?

True that @bikefanatic42  #4wheelzr4puzzies

Most of my issue with the feed comes down to cadence. I love +Dwell  magazine. A visit to their site can amaze and inspire my wonder and curiosity. But do I go there every day? Every week? No. Same for +Fast Company and dozens of other media outlets that on any given day might have something legit to pique my interest.

I simply don't understand how any brand - and I mean any brand - expects to maintain my interest every hour, let alone every 15 minutes. Some will tell me that's not the point. That yes, no one really expects me to be engaged every hour and that the whole strategy is about being there in the first page of my feed when and if I do decide to glance at it. But if that's the case, what's the point of following several hundred entities, all tweeting obscure chicken scratch plus a link  attempting to get my click? I see 20th tweet from Dwell and think, seriously guys, I just looked at the goddamn top 10  list of  award-winning curvilinear polygonal structures and got my fill for the day. Now you want me to check out the top 20 most genius small spaces in Manhattan? I need to go feed my cat then I'll try to get to it right after I get done with _The 7 Simple Truths Of Leadership I Learned In My Days As A Rodeo Clown.

On the social side. I have some of what I'd call peers I guess. But after seeing these people tweet like every 5 minutes, I have lost all respect for them. No lie, it's like: off to dreamland

The name of the playlist says it all

I curated  this playlist to jam in my office while I work on projects. Of the 30 or so bands/songs (I keep adding), how many do you recognize?

Also feel free to suggest more tracks that fit.

You're a dope and will never amount to anything. All hail raw, naked intelligence:

"Taylor Wilson was restless in school so he built his first nuclear reactor at age 14. But Taylor didn't stop there. He wanted to do something novel, and so Taylor, now a Thiel Fellow, decided to tackle the problem of nuclear fusion technology, which he says is stuck in the 1950s.

In the video below, courtesy of NBC News, you will see Taylor's design for mini-reactors that he claims will be safe from the threat of meltdowns..."

#SynecdocheNewYork  or #HolyMotors  ?

If you're into this sort of cinema (I know ... niche crowd for sure), which of these films did you appreciate more? Why?

I just saw Holy Motors tonight and wow, I really loved it. I am totally on the fence as to which is better. Both films speak to me in a similar language.

Unfinished #Animation  Project

I worked on this animated music video for my song, Insect Joy, off and on over the past couple years. It was a really ambitious project and was taking a really long time, so I shelved it to work on other projects including a new animation project that I think I am a lot more likely to finish in a reasonable time frame.

I can actually see the whole finished 5 minutes of animated video in my head. Some day I hope to return to this project and finish it up.
