More Google Auto Awesome HDR awesomeness.
I am floored by the capabilities of this new feature. I did literally nothing here except take the 3 bracketed photos and upload them to Google. Auto Awesome does the rest!
This feature really opens the door for more people do produce really good HDR shots without having to spend hours editing and developing their photos. Great stuff, +Google+ Photos!

A test of Google's new Auto Awesome HDR feature. All I did was upload 3 unedited bracketed photos and Google did the rest.
Not too shabby, Google!!

...I imagine it looked like this. A late morning view of Jókulsârlon. We hiked around and found a place off the beaten path...glad we did. The clouds were moving fast, but this spot was sheltered and and relatively still. - with +Daniel Sjostrom +Simon Doughty +Jaycee Crawford #plusphotoextract

The early morning fog rolled into the bay this morning that it covered partial of the Marin Headlands but leave the city alone :). No Golden Gate Bridge towers that you can see , only the Sutro Tower still stand there. The fog formation was interesting to see it from Mt. Tamalpais. I wish they open the gate early that I can be in this east peak to see the sunrise colors or the dawn colors :) May be next time.

.... I couldn't help myself - had to go take one picture at least :)
If the fog is too high - get higher ... even if it means being farther away and using a bigger lens :)

Timelapse Reel (2011-2013)
As I started getting into photography, I knew from the beginning, that I wanted to get into timelapsing. So over the past few years I started collecting timelapses from various locations. No plan in mind, just shooting when I felt like it. It this point I just wanted to get a better feeling and understanding for it all. I was learning and will always be learning photography. So I wanted to touch up my skills before jumping right into timelapsing. As I am now starting to invest in a track, I realized it is finally time to put together my first edit of all my previous work. Enjoy.
Locations:
Zakim Bridge in Boston, MA
July 15th Aurora at Sparks Lake in Bend, Oregon
Perseids Meteor Shower in Davenport, CA
Mount Sopris/Milky Way in Carbondale, CO
All over San Francisco and the Bay Area
Gear:
Canon 7D

It was one of those remarkably clear weekends in San Francisco that really makes you love the city so I decided to head up to take an evening snapshot of a Bay Bridge and city skyline view that I never get tired of.

Bridge Meets Art. The lights are up and under test for the Bay Bridge lighting project. The 25,000 LEDs are programmed for various animations which look really cool in person, but the impact is somewhat lost when it comes to still photography.

Plus One Collection - UPDATE #5 - Who is in print book + FUNDRAISING
You voted very soundly for including more artists in the book, and we're going to do just that. Here's your list of who's work is going to be included in the print version of the book - http://plusonecollection.com/2012-artists/
Now that you know, we really need to up our fundraising. We have just 9 days to make print book possible, but we're only 55% there. Quite a mountain to climb.
YOU CAN HELP HERE - http://www.indiegogo.com/plus-one-collection-2012
As you asked, we're making cheaper version of the book available at $99 or $125 if you live outside US. You can also contribute directly, aka "open contribution." I still think Limited Edition is best because you get a collector's version of the book, a beautiful print and you're maximizing y... more »

It's funny how you can overlook shots like this when initially processing a batch of images. I'm not entirely thrilled with the composition, but the sunset was just too fantastic not to share. This scene was unfolding behind me as I made myself continue shooting in the other direction, focusing on the composition that I had carefully chosen before sunset. After getting something satisfactory, I waded out further in a last ditch effort to chase the amazing light.

Dreaming of sunrises.
With views of the city and the bay, Battery Spenser Park is a great place to watch a sunrise. It seems there are always at least a dozen photographers (like the one in this photo) capturing the beauty of the bridge from every angle.

As we come up on the end of the year I started looking at some old photos that I previously scrapped. I took this one evening in late December last year walking on the beach at Crissy Field.

We had a lot of rain here in the Bay Area this weekend. Yesterday I decided to brave the storm and check out Cataract Creek, which was absolutely gushing. I was lucky enough to catch a break in the rain, though I was still wiping my lens off between every shot because of all the mist.
Yes, I planted that leaf. I'm not a journalist :)
